The Trash Bin of Cliches

This is a series of shorts about the life of established author, Willow Parker.

Whilst living in London with her best friend Kennedy, Willow gets writer's block. Something she deals with by getting, what was supposed to be a temp job, at The Agency: a company that is invested in a bunch of media industry fields. While helping out with a photo shoot Willow meets one of the world's most coveted bachelors, Sawyer Huntington, one of the boys from the internationally popular group Once Upon.

Thanks to one of her new model friends, Yvonne, Sawyer gets his hooks into her and she wakes up after a night of partying with someone else's boxers on. After that it's one thing after another, starting again when Once Upon books their new music video shoot with The Agency. When she is mistaken for an extra and Sawyer picks her to play the opposing role in his scene, sparks fly, now all Willow has to do is try not to catch fire.

12. Prelude: Kitchen Counter Dynamic: 10th April 2012

“So,” the interviewer said to Sawyer, “Everyone’s wondering about this mystery girl you’ve got going on, some people say it’s a media ploy, some people say she’s legit. What can you tell us about her to put those no believers in their place?”

“Well, I’m sure there are much more interesting things to talk about,” he starts, he’s met with a chorus of awe’s that make him laugh adorably to her television screen. Typical of him, he’s beautiful as always, and she’s covered in several different colours of paint, wearing sweats, with her hair in a wavy rats nest.

“The audience has spoken!” This time Tyson is accompanying Sawyer in this interview, he raises his hands like he’s received a very important message. Sawyer stares straight at the camera and gives it a look, she drops the paint brush.

“Shit,” Willow utters, not from dropping the wet paint brush on her feet and getting spatters on the wall; but because she’s seen that look before. She knows that look, and if they aren’t naked or about to be, it means she’s in for it. She watches as he turns back to the interviewer.

“Oh, alright,” the audience cheers, “Oy! If I’m about to be speaking about this I want you lot to be very hush-hush alright?” He winks and she cringes, she can almost feel the impact of a world of swooning girls from her television. “Well, first off, she is one of the most disgusting people I’ve ever met.”

The interviewer raises an eyebrow, this was not what he was expecting apparently. Tyson chimes in before the interviewer can say anything.

“Don’t forget about her eating habits!”

“Oh, yes, and she eats like a pig.”

“A very nice picture you’re painting for us there,” the interviewer laughs and he shrugs, smiling back. “Is that all we get? That she’s disgusting and eats like a pig?” The audience cheers in agreement.

“She is an avid, I think she calls it fan girl? Did I get that right?” The audience shouts yes at him, “A hermit-”

“A hermit?” The interviewer cuts him off laughing.

“Yes, she’s my little hermity nerd girl,” Sawyer says, a little smile on his face that Willow only catches glimpses off when he thinks she’s not looking, “and I love her.”

The audience says awe but Willow is too busy falling down and slipping on paint as she tries to get to her cell phone. I’M GOING TO KILL YOU! She texts him, how dare he say he love her for the first time on a television show! She throws her phone on the couch and starts slashing with her paintbrush across the canvas. Five hours and a faerie landscape later, she’s picked up her phone as she walks to the door. She opens the door as she inputs her phone password. Reading the text he sent her back before she looks up. WE’LL SEE ABOUT THAT WON’T WE?

“Wha-”     He’s swept her into a mind blurring kiss and backs away.

“I love you, please don’t be angry, and I apol-”

“Did you just,” She cuts him off and  presses her surprisingly clean index finger gently to his lips as he nods, “You got on a plane and flew to...” He nodded again and she just shook her head.

“I wannd to apolomig-” He tries to say around her finger, lightly kissing it.

“I love you too, just don’t do it again,” he sheepishly smiles at her. Willow can tell by his eyes he knows what she means, no more taking serious steps in their relationship on air in an interview without her knowing. She moves her finger from his lips and tangles the rest of that hand into his curly mane of brown hair. Pulling his face to hers. Later, when she gets hungry at midnight like she always does, she’s thankful he had enough sense to put the box of chocolates on the dishwasher before he hoisted her up on the counter and did a lot of unhygienic things Kennedy can never know about.
