The Trash Bin of Cliches

This is a series of shorts about the life of established author, Willow Parker.

Whilst living in London with her best friend Kennedy, Willow gets writer's block. Something she deals with by getting, what was supposed to be a temp job, at The Agency: a company that is invested in a bunch of media industry fields. While helping out with a photo shoot Willow meets one of the world's most coveted bachelors, Sawyer Huntington, one of the boys from the internationally popular group Once Upon.

Thanks to one of her new model friends, Yvonne, Sawyer gets his hooks into her and she wakes up after a night of partying with someone else's boxers on. After that it's one thing after another, starting again when Once Upon books their new music video shoot with The Agency. When she is mistaken for an extra and Sawyer picks her to play the opposing role in his scene, sparks fly, now all Willow has to do is try not to catch fire.

11. His Weirdly Understanding Girlfriend: 14th July 2012

She opens the door and there he is, panting; his hair is a mess, and he shouldn’t be sexy but he is. Her eyes widen in surprise, then joy, but she squashes it down. No need to make him more arrogant.

“Hi,” she smiles, “I didn’t know you were coming or I would have cleaned up.”

“Hi? Are you kidding? Is this a test?” His British accent is thick, he sounds panicky.

“What? Are you coming in?” He walks past her.

“Is Kennedy here?”

“Yeah, she’s in the living room,” Willow says slowly, she turns around and closes the door, following him into the living room, “Are you alright?”

“Did she see them?” He asks her flatmate.

“See what? The pictures of you making out with chap-stick McGee? Yeah, she saw them,” Kennedy answers without looking away from the television where their Doctor Who marathon is playing, “Pretty sure everyone with an internet connection has seen them.”

“Is that what you’re on about?” Willow tries not to laugh.

“Why are you so calm? Why aren‘t you upset?” His eyes are wide and lined with bags, his hand gestures are everywhere.

“Because I trust you,” He looks at her with disbelief, “What? I love you; you have to kiss people all the time, you kiss every female interviewer ever, you even kiss the boys sometimes, and I haven’t had a problem. People flash you on a daily basis, throw themselves at you, rip their clothes off, that sort of thing.”

“You really think I would get angry over some girl kissing you? Sawyer, I was in the limo with you when you couldn’t see outside the window there were so many boobs, me and Henry started playing a game about it. We aren‘t in an open relationship or anything and if you sleep with anyone else I will not stop Kennedy from ripping your dick off, but we wouldn‘t work if something as small as a tabloid kiss would send me packing.”

“Alright, well,” he pauses, “I love you,” she smiles, goes on her tiptoes, and kisses him on the cheek.

“I think that’s been established, would you like some breakfast?” He nods, “A scalp massage and a nap too?” He looks at her, “Yes, I’ll be joining you, but there will be sleep, provided you don‘t have to be somewhere today?” he shakes his head, smiles, and sits on the couch beside her flatmate.  She walks into the kitchen.

“Seriously?” She hears from the living room, “You flew here to make sure she wasn’t mad at you? Don’t you have family you haven’t seen in ages and friends and stuff? Also work?”

“Sod off Kennedy.”

“Make me pop star. You had sex in my kitchen.”

“That was 3 months ago!”

“3 months does not erase my knowledge of what happened on my counters!”

“It was spontaneous!”

“It was disgusting is what it was!”

“Oh my god guys, shut up or no cinnamon buns!” Willow yells from the kitchen, Kennedy glares at Sawyer, no longer paying attention to Rory coming back from the dead. Sawyer is trying his best to ignore her but by the time Willow comes in with the cinnamon buns he’s breaking.

“Stop it! Stop looking at me!” Sawyer is shaking his arms at her flatmate and she’s wondering if he’s actually slept since the story came out. She hands a cinnamon bun to Kennedy.

“Maybe don’t play with him for moment?” Willow sits on the arm of the couch, and hands a cinnamon bun to Sawyer before setting it on the coffee table beside her. She puts an arm around his shoulders and leans his head on her lap, but not before she sees Sawyer stick his tongue out at Kennedy.
