Embracing laughter

Patricia is just an ordinary girl, or maybe not. She has things happen around her that are not just odd but downright creepy. The days Patricia knew are about to change as a whole different kind of people meet her. Will she run to follow her heart or stay in the safe embrace of Salem.

How was this even possible? Her grandfather was definitely one of us but that meant her father should be too. How could he possibly be so discrete? That was hard even for the elders of our pack.

Patricia left promising to come back tomorrow morning. Would that be soon enough for me? There was an odd empty feeling inside of me, what was wrong with me. Everything was just being out of the ordinary today. The pack left together on our way home, all my bird bodyguards had left except the duck with the funny feathers, he perched on my back on what seemed like lookout. Maybe it was just in my head but I truly thought maybe Patricia had whispered him instructions to keep me safe from the pack. I kind of found this sweet and funny at the same time, 'Just wait till the pups see you! They will be so happy' I thought, thinking of the little ones in our caravan.

I wondered if Beckett knew what Patricia was, I would have to ask when we were alone. I trailed behind the pack, still feeling her fingers in my fur. Lingering at a place by the creek that smelled strongly of her. The duck on my back seemed to understand he picked up some grass and leaves that smelled immensely of her and climbed back on. When I got back to my wagon I let the duck off and shifted throwing on some clothes. I carefully took the things with her sent from the duck and laid them next to my bed.

Now I had to find Beckett, I gave the duck some bread and water and left. First I went to Beckett's wagon but he wasn't there, ah, the elders tent. We gathered there when anything unusual happened or we were debating letting another enter our secret world. I desperately hoped it was both.
