19. The Right Person

Zelo's P.O.V.

When I finally got home, I dumped all my textbooks on my desk and planned on doing my homework. I turned on the stereo and it started playing TVXQ's "Mirotics". A pink and white striped notebook caught the corner of my eye. Remembering I picked up her notebook after her quick dash to the library, I never had the chance to give it back to her. Curious as to what was inside, I opened it. Flipping through the pages, all I could see were names scribbled on the sides of the pages, names of bands I did and didn't know. Shinee, Infinite, Nu'est, I didn't know she was such a fangirl. So this is what Carter does during her spare time in homeroom. Finally made my way to the last written page with the title "Bucket list" written on it. Reading the list, I made a mental note of all the things she wanted to do. Suddenly, my phone rang.

"Hello?" I said into the phone.

"Zeland, do you think you can make some time to hang out with me? said Carter softly.

"Yes!" I said a little bit to quickly. "Um, I mean, yeah, I with I can do that."

"Great. Can you come over to my house?," she asked.

"Yeah, sure," I said before she hung up the phone. It took me a minute to register what just happened. Did she just ask to hang out with me of all people?  Taking my phone out once again, I called the first person I could think of.

"Hey, Lewis. Can you come with me to hang out with Carter? I don't want to go by myself," I asked.

"Are you really asking me?" said Lewis irritated.

"Now that I think about it, why did I ask you?" After a few seconds, he replied.

"Fine. I'll meet you at your place," he said before hanging up. Twice in a row, I've been hung up on. I made a mental note to make sure that if they call me ever again, I'd be the one to do it. Going through my closet, I picked out a pair of dark washed jeans, black t-shirt with a red and white letterman jacket to protect me from the cold breeze outside. Standing in front of the mirror, I pushed up my big, blue framed glasses, then grabbed my keys, wallet, and went for the door forgetting about the pink and white striped notebook.

"Dude, you knock," I said. Standing in front of Carter's house. My heart raced so fast I was scared Lewis would be able to hear it.

"Why do I have to do it? You're the one who brought me here," said Lewis with his backpack slung across right shoulder.

"Well, you're the one who agreed," I shot back. Not admitting defeat, he made his way to the door and knocked.

"Oh, hello. Are you Carter's friends?" said Mrs. Smith smiling. Her face was the splitting image as Carter's. I took notice of her green eyes which happened to be passed onto Callum while Carter inherited her dark, brown ones.

"Yeah, she invited us over. I'm Zeland Choi and he's Lewis Jae," I said.

"Mom, don't talk to my friends," said Carter from behind her mother.

"Why not?" said Mrs. Smith.

"Because I'm scared you might embarrass me."

"Ok, ok, I'm leaving. Gosh, this is how you repay the woman who gave birth to you," said her mother heading towards the kitchen. Her mother was really...something.

"Hey Zeland. You brought Lewis with you," said Carter.

"See, she doesn't want me here," Lewis said.

"No, no, no, it's fine. The more the merrier," replied Carter smiling. "Mom! Me and my friends are going to hang out for a while!" she screamed. Grabbing her keys, jacket and bag, we left her house. Walking down the street, I had no idea where we were going. "Do you want to go to Wonderland? My cousin who works there gave me some free passes. I just texted Alexandra if she wanted to go with us and she said yes."

"We're going to an amusement park?" asked Lewis smiling.

"Have you even been to one?" asked Carter. Clearing his throat, he replied with a no. When we reached the bus stop, we met up with Alex. Lewis, for the first time, was jumping around with excitement. It kind of freaked me out seeing him so happy. He would look so much better if he was always smiling like this.

"Guys! The bus is here!" yelled Lewis.

'I don't think it will fit all four of us," said Alex.

"Aw, I want to go now! How about this, me and Alex will go on this one and we'll all meet up there. Bye!" he said holding onto Alexandra's hand and going inside the bus. Now it was just me and Carter. All I want is for the butterflies to go away.

"Why do you suddenly want to go to the amusement park?" I asked.

Can you help me forget?" she said disregarding my question.

"Forget what?"

"Forget what the pain in my heart feels like," she said sadly smiling at me. Slowly, I placed my hand in hers.

"Do you think I'm the right person?" I asked, my heart beating so fast it felt like my whole body was beating.

"Yes," she said.
