6. Rain Sound

Zelo's P.O.V.

Sitting in English class, all I can here is the pitter patter of the rain against the window. The sunshine and blue sky from the afternoon was overtaken my gray clouds and rain. I try to concentrate on finishing the poem that we're expected to hand in next class. One more line and I'm done! At the sound of the last bell of the day, everybody, even the teacher, immediately pack up their thing to go to get the hell out of there. I turn on my phone and place all my belongings inside my backpack. Maybe if I'm quick enough, I can walk home with Kevin and Carter? Excited, I make my way towards the door when I feel my phone vibrate. Did someone text me? Who would text me? Even though the guys have phones, as old-schooled as they are, they'd rather talk then text someone. Looking at my caller ID, I see that it's Kevin. What does he want?

Hey, It's Kevin. You remember me right? I can't walk Carter home because her older brother and I were going to do something after school. Do you mind walking her home for me? Unless you don't want to then that's totally fine -Kev :)

I didn't know she had an older brother. Kevin, that guy. Him and Carter seem really close. I learned that they were childhood friends, but they were separated for nine years. Well, the years must have been good for them. The way they are together seems as though they were never separated. But does he really think that Carter and I are close enough to wallk each other home? Taking this as a chance to become closer, I texted him back.

No, it's fine with me. I'll wait for her at her locker - Zelo

As I walk out of the classroom, I see my friends all waiting for me.

"Hey, Zeland, are you going to come with us to sign up for the Mathletes club?" said Gabriel.

"No! I thought we were going to sign up for the Chemistry club?!" whined Chris.

"Fine, we can do both." said Aiden.

"Uh, guys, I can't come with you. Just write my name down when you sign up. I have to meet someone right now," I said, trying not to reveal too much.

"Oh... I see. Is that someone Carter? It seems Zelo over here has finally discovered girls," said Damian with a smile. The way he said it made him sound like such a perv.

"Whatever. I'm leaving now.Meet me at my place, OK?" I said as I made my way towards the end of the hall. With a smile on my face, I walk to her locker with an emergency umbrella that we maybe use together.

Carter's P.O.V.

Once the last bell rings, everyone had already left the classroom. Knowing that there was no one to wait for after school, I take my time packing and head towards the door. I have no homework from homeroom and math so I there's no need to go back to my locker.

As I make my way towards the front doors of the school, I can hear the sound of the rain from outside. What the hell? It wasn't supposed to rain in September! And this afternoon, it was so sunny! I don't even have an umbrella with me. Mother nature, I personally think you've gone mental.

Trying not to get soaked from the rain, I start running towards the front gate in hopes of getting to the bus shelter. Suddenly, I find myself face plant the pavement.

"Ow!' I scream. I can feel a bruise starting to form in my legs. You've got to be kidding me. Did someone just trip me?

"Sorry, I didn't see you there. Here let me help you up," said a male with a low voice. As I look up, it's looks to be a man in his thirties to forties wearing a gray trench coat. Sticking his hand out to help me up, I take it. Without warning, he grabs me up and I find myself tightly wrapped in one of his arms, the other covering my mouth. What the hell is happening?! I try to bite his hand to take his hands away from me, but it's no use. Two other men come out of the shadows, one holding pounding his fist against his other hand and the other with a hankerchief wrapped around one hand. Feeling my heartbeat racing, I try kicking the man off of me. Out of nowhere, my head turns from the impact of fist-to-face contact. My jaw is the one who recieves the blow. Holding back tears, I try to scream with all my might.

"Someone, help me!!" I try to say, but the man's hold on my mouth is too strong. Already, my face feels full of bruises. Is this really how I'll die? From the hands of a stranger?

"Hold still. It will all be over before you know it," whispered the man into my ear. No, I want to tell the man, but it's impossible. Slowly, the third man makes his way towards me. Out of fear of what will happen next, I keep kicking and squirming around I hopes of him releasing me. Suddenly, the first man releases his hand on my mouth, only to find it covered with the hankerchief. Yelling my lungs out, I feel my body becoming limp. What did they do to me?! Help, someone! As my mind begins to shut down, the last thing I hear is the pitter patter of the rain against the pavement before I hit the ground.
