Unspoken Words

Hazel Adams had a rough childhood. Her mother and father died in a car accident when she was seven. She hasn't spoken since. Even after ten years, Hazel hasn't said a word to anybody. But in her alone time, she sings. It was always her mother's dream, for her daughter to become a singer. Hazel has an amazing voice, but she keeps it to herself. Kids at school think she's weird, shy, and sometimes they believe she's just a deaf mute. She is a mute, but she isn't deaf. She can hear their snickering nice and clearly. She doesn't care, though. That is, until, a boy comes along. Like usual, she expects him to walk away and not bother trying to break her silence but, he does the complete opposite. He tries, in all his power, to get Hazel to talk. Will she eventually burst or will she stay unspoken? (One Direction FanFic)

1. The Accident

It was raining out, I screamed at the thunder. I was shaking violently. My mom and dad were coming to get me from Grandma's. I was sitting on the couch, snuggled into a warm, cozy blanket. It was storming out. Really bad. Just then the house phone buzzed with that familiar tone.

"Hazel honey, could you bring Grammy the house phone?" My grandma called from then kitchen. She was sewing, as usual. I got up, and waited for my legs to stabilize before I grabbed the phone off the side table and brought it over to my grandma. I was only seven, and thunderstorms are my worst fears. Besides the dark, and spiders. And being alone.

"Thanks sweetie pie." She said, taking the phone from my hands and answering the call. "Hello?...What?...We'll be right there." She said through the phone, her voice slightly shaking. I gave her a confused look but she just ignored me and started dialing another number into the phone, shooing me away. I wonder what that was about. I walked back into the living room, and on cue, a loud shutter of thunder cracked from outside. I lunged on to the couch, and curled myself into the blanket, hiding myself from the reality of the storm that was taking place right outside my window. This night couldn't get any worse.

Grandma came bolting through the door, coat and everything on, tossing me my little coat mumbling a quiet "Let's go"

"Where are we going?" I asked, looking at my aunt and my grandma who were sitting in the front seat of the car. My grandma can't drive, so whenever she needs a ride she calls my mom or my aunt.

"Hazel, sweetie, there's been an... accident." My aunt said, looking back at me then turning back to the road. What does she mean an accident?

"What?" I asked, looking from my aunt, to my grandma, back to my aunt.

"Your mom and dad... they... got in a car crash" My grandma says, noticeably holding back tears. Water rushed into my eyes and I started crying. I knew what happened when you got into a car crash. You... You die.

"It's going to be alright, Hazel, everything is going to be alright." My aunt said, but I knew it wasn't. Everything was not going to be alright.

And it wasn't.
