A story from a girl in Harry Potter's year that tells the story from their perspective.

12. Rumours

It was rumoured around the school that Harry Potter and some of his friends had gone out after dark, to visit Hagrid, and had been spotted by none other than Draco Malfoy.

"Who else would tell the Professor?" said Darren.

"Luckily, Malfoy got a detention with them!" said Amy, gleefully.

"I overheard Hermione saying she had to go to the Forbidden Forest!" exclaimed Jenna.

The gang turned around to see Harry, Ron and Hermione sitting at the Gryffindor table, looking glum. Some of their house had tried to disown them, as they lost 150 points for Gryffindor, meaning there was no way they could win. The four hour glasses were at the back of the Great Hall, and, at the moment, Ravenclaw was in the lead, with Slytherin not far behind. This meant Hufflepuff was third, but it was a close call.

It was now almost April, which meant exams were nearing. Jenna was particularly stressing out. Amy didn't know why, she had got either O's or E's in every subject. Amy had only got two O's in a subject, and that was in Quidditch and Potions. She laughed for 3 hours about Professor Snape's surprised face after she handed him her finished Awakening Potion. After that day in late November, she had gotten O's ever since. Pansy Parkinson was so jealous!

Jake was always stressing out this time of year. He would say so in his letters home. His anxiety got worse and worse as the years went by, and this was his fourth year, the penultimate year before he was a N.E.W.T. student. Charlie and Adam just scrape past each year, not really caring about their futures, they just want to live life by their rules and not by the teachers. I see their point, and they'll go places. Not to a job or a house, but places.

Amy really wanted to make friends with Harry, Ron and Hermione. The Golden Trio, they were known as. Nobody could touch them, they barely talked to anyone but each other and they were in Gryffindor.

The teachers were really looking tired now. Darren said it was an 'end of term' thing, but Amy thought there was something else. This school is massive, so there must be secrets below in the dungeons, or past there, buried beneath the school, waiting to be opened...

The first exam of the week was Charms. They had to make a pineapple dance across the table. Amy's sort of did a little jig and then starting rolling around. Professor Flitwick gave her a disapproving look.

After a hurried lunch discussing the Charms exam, the next one was Transfiguration. Professor McGonagall stared at the students whilst they changed a mouse into a snuffbox. Amy's came out rather well, for once.

The students had no time to waste brooding over the first two exams, they had to study for their Potions exam the next day. Jenna was particularly worried about this one, as it lasted over two lessons of the day. Snape was particularly harsh to Harry and Ron, but after them it was Jenna. Amy never understood why. She was a model student, similar to Hermione Granger, but less of a show off.

After finishing their final exam on that Friday afternoon, Jenna, Amy and Darren walked down to the grounds bordering the Forbidden Forest. Amy saw Harry and Ron talking with Hagrid in his hut, which made her a little jealous. None of the other students had that sort of connection with a teacher! It's probably just because he's Harry Potter, the famous boy who lived, who's parents were murdered by You-Know-Who!

Amy's Uncle Jonathan had been murdered by a Death Eater twelve years ago. No one had made a deal about him! Her cousins, who were 12 and 9 at the time had been heartbroken. All's Jonathan got was a tiny article in the Daily Prophet.

"C'mon guys," Amy muttered darkly. "We can't see anything in the Forest at this time of day anyway". Jenna and Darren hurried along in her wake, until they reached the looming castle. Her home. Her real home.

There was only another week to go until the summer holidays. It dawned on her that she needed to speak to one of her brothers about where she was going to stay over the holidays.

"I have to go guys, I've got to go and speak to Jake!" Amy mumbled as she ran towards Hogwarts, to find her oldest brother.
