Last Breath.

I am George Sterton, i'm 15 and this is my story. A story of how my life was before and how it was now. I was in the war....

6. Why world?

I was given a gun, army greens, a pot of food and other things I had no idea what they were or how they worked. I went with the troops to put the army greens on. I then sat down with the others, eating food, which I hoped after the war I would be going home and having some of mum's shepard's pie.

About an hour after that we were called, we had to go to the war zone. I grabbed my gun and marched off proud, I knew what was going to happen but still kept my head up high!

As I approached the ladder, I had second thoughts. I had to turn back! " What do you think your doing boy?" A man said. " I can't do this!" I replied. " You can't swap and choose when you go to war do you think any of us want to be here?" He shouted. " Do you want to be shot by your own side for cowardness?" He demanded. " No sir!" I was alarmed they shot their own? I was forced to turn and march towards my death by, the man had an expression on his face looking at me as if I had said the rudest word ever!

I kept walking, I climbed the ladder and saw the war zone...

Thats when it happened, everything seemed to slow down as I examined the world around me, it was, it was hell! All the men running, shooting, praying for their lives. I saw smoke, gas and mist everywhere, how long will this last? I saw men drop to the floor, men already on the floor and men whimpering over their best friend being shot.

How could the world let this happen? Nobody at home sees how bad this is, innocent people are dying because of one person declared war.

This made me more determined if I fight and survive I could tell my children to never let this happen to the world again. Children, wives and girlfriends have lost many relatives in this war so far. Who says when it finishes? How does it finish?
