Chapter 9

The taxi soon pulled up outside The Ivy, a restaurant just off Covent Garden next to the Ivy Club, attached to the restaurant and opposite the mousetrap theatre. How I hadn’t noticed it this morning I had no idea.

By the way the doorman stood outside dressed in a suit and hat I could tell it was posh and I couldn’t help but wonder if I was too underdressed to eat in here, Tom insisted that I wasn’t as he said people often came here after or before a trip to the theatre, but even then I thought you’d dress up more formally than I was dressed for a trip to the theatre, I would have done anyway, but then again I was one who enjoyed dressing up and did at any chance given.

Tom helped me out of the taxi taking my hand and giving me a kiss on the cheek before putting his hand around my waist and guiding me towards the doors of the restaurant.

As we neared the restaurant cameras and microphones were flashed in our direction and journalists and photographs called Tom`s name.

“Tom is this your girlfriend”Tom...Tom”

Tom`s grip on my waist tightened and he pulled me close whispering in my ear that he was sorry, that he’d sort it and to go inside and find Amy and Jay and that he would be there soon. He let go of my waist and approached the journalists and photographers whilst I headed to the door of the restaurant.

“Good Evening, Miss” said the doorman. I gave a weary smile and looked back at Tom one last time; he was smiling his million dollar smile and posing for photographs. I smiled to myself before taking a deep breath and walking into the restaurant in search of Amy and Jay.

The Ivy was beautiful. Very posh. I could see why there were so many paparazzi outside as it looked like a restaurant many famous celebrities would come to.

Whilst looking for Amy and Jay I couldn’t help but take in my surroundings. Big silver chandeliers hung from the ceiling whilst red canvases with silver glitter patterns contrasted the chocolate brown paint on the walls.

Each table was sectioned off with a thick stained glass window allowing people enough privacy so conversations couldn’t be overheard but painted so you could still see through and see when your food arrived. The tables were each decorated with thick white table cloths and a vase which contained a single red rose.

I soon found Amy and Jay snuggled together in a booth at the back of the restaurant. Ah young love. I guess it was to be expected as they were to be married by the end of the year. Another excuse for me to dress up! I approached the booth with a goofy grin on my face.

“Hey guys” I said taking a seat closest to the stain glass window opposite Amy so Tom could sit next to me once he joined us and sit opposite Jay.

“Someone’s happy” Jay smiled.

“Guessing you had an amazing day” Amy continued.

“Oh my god, you have no idea, it was beyond AMAZING!”

“Told you you’d like it” Amy winked. “I know you better than you think” she smiled.

“You do indeed”

“Where’s Tom” Jay asked.

“Oh, he got caught by the paparazzi. It was really weird having cameras shoved in my face. Guess its something I’ll have to get used to”

“Why might that be?” Amy asked with a wink. Just then Tom approached the table out of breath. He saved my back; I wasn’t going to tell her when Jay or anyone else in the restaurant could overhear us. His face lit up when he saw me showing his pearly whites. I smiled back as he came over to the table.

“You okay, mate?”

“Yeah, Jay, im fine thanks mate, just got caught by the paps. Cheers for choosing a restaurant which wouldn’t keep me low key.” Tom laughed at his joke. “Ehehe.” Once he`d finished laughing he continued. “Yeah, cheers, Jay, much appreciated”  Tom said sarcastically shrugging off his leather jacket and putting it over his chair before taking a seat next to me and kissing me on my cheek.

“Sorry about that, darling” Tom apologised taking my hand in his under the table.

“That’s okay, Tom, please don’t apologise. What did you tell them?” I asked.

“I just said that you were my friend who is in town visiting and that we were having dinner. Nothing more. They then dropped it and asked about my next project and that was the end of that.” he leaned in to continue so only I could hear “I didn’t want to say that we were a couple until you were comfortable with it or until we had discussed it first” I smiled and nodded.

Jay noticed that we were whispering in the corner and asked what we were talking about.

“Nothing, I’ll tell you later, mate. So how was your day” Tom replied trying his best to avoid the conversation that me and Tom were together. We would each tell them when we were ready and out of public hearing so it didn’t get out further. I think both Amy and Jay knew by the faces they gave us after Tom`s answer but they didn’t push it and replied that there day was good and that it was spent at the cinema and in the park talking about wedding plans. The waitress then came over and asked if we were ready to order asking what we wanted to eat and drink. She took down each of our orders before leaving us to our own conversations once more.

Conversation flowed about our day at the V&A and how beautiful it was, how much I enjoyed the exhibition and Tom`s company and how it was even more special when it was just us two in the exhibition giving us both a chance to really appreciate the costumes and get to know more about each other purely via the exhibition. I told them how we acted out a scene from Romeo and Juliet, how emotional I had gotten on seeing the little black dress worn by Audrey Hepburn and explained the whole day and exhibition aswell as showing them the pictures we took in the Disney store.

Just as I was finishing telling Amy and Jay about our day our dinners arrived, Tom ordered the Bannockburn Rib Steak, Amy the Dover Sole fish and Jay the Cod, Prawn and Salad pie while I ordered the meatballs.

Over dinner the conversation turned to the wedding with Jay and Amy saying that they wanted to get married before Christmas so they can go on their honeymoon in the New Year. With it being the beginning of October and December a couple of months away it gave us just enough time to plan everything.

It was 11 o clock by the time we finished dinner and had our deserts. The way Tom always got excited about pudding would never fail to make me laugh. Once we had finished our meal we paid the bill, each of us paying for our own. Tom insisted on paying for mine aswell but I was having none of it as he had paid for everything today and I said it was only fair that he let me pay for my own. Amy and Jay went to the loo and said that they would meet us outside. Tom finally gave in and got up from the booth taking my coat off the back of my chair and holding it out for me to put on. I smiled and shrugged into it. Tom’s hands moved to my waist giving me a quick kiss on my neck before taking my hand and leading me out of the restaurant to find Jay and Amy.

We agreed to all get a taxi together as it seemed pointless not too when three of us were going back to the same house and Tom didn’t live that far from their house so agreed to walk home from there. I didn’t want him to leave me after such an amazing day but it would seem weird if he stayed especially as Amy and Jay didn’t yet know about me and Tom and would be weird for all of us if either of them found me on the sofa with Tom or Tom in my room as we both knew we wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing that we were in the same house but not actually together.

We all piled into the taxi and around twenty minutes later it pulled up outside Amy and Jay’s. Jay paid the driver as we all got out, Tom offering me his hand as he got out first. Once we were all out and the taxi had drove off Jay and Amy said their goodbyes to Tom, Jay saying that he would meet up with Tom in a couple of days for a pint to sort out plans for the wedding, suits etc.

We were then outside alone, left to say our goodbyes for the evening. I didn’t want this day to end, it had been so perfect. We both smiled at each other, looking into each others eyes, wanting to stay in our little bubble for a little while longer.

Tom pulled me into an embrace, he smelt heavenly I buried my face in his neck hugging him close before kissing up and down it. His grip on my waist tightened. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you, darling” Tom warned me. I chucked against his neck “And why’s that, love?” I asked knowing very why not. I continued trailing kisses up his neck to his cheek before kissing him on the lips. He kissed me back a moan falling from his lips. “Because id have to lead you into Amy’s and have my way with you right now darling” he replied huskily in my ear. “And why cant you” I asked innocently. He groaned. “God, don’t tempt me, love. I don’t want to rush this, no matter how much I want you” I kissed him again moaning into his mouth. He pushed our bodies flush together, my hands finding there way into his hair and tugging a little. Tom moaned into my mouth before pulling away and resting his head on mine, catching his breath. “Forgive me” he breathed. “I`m so sorry” Will he ever stop apologising? “Oh, no Thomas, you do not apologise after kissing me after a lovely day or for kissing me at all. That’s the last thing you have to apologise for.” He kissed me once more looking into my eyes taking my hand in his and swaying me back and forth in an imaginary dance. I smiled.

“I’ve got interviews all day tomorrow but can I take you dancing tomorrow evening at the club opposite the restaurant we went to this evening? I’d love to dance properly with you” I smiled.

“Id like that very much, darling” I replied. “It will be an end to another lovely day, im going shopping with Amy tomorrow, sorting out wedding plans and outfits for her to wear on her honeymoon.” He smiled. “Tomorrow evening it is then my love; it gives me something to look forward to through a day of press” I smiled “Me too. Thankyou so much for a lovely day, Tom, it was absolutely incredible.”

“It was my pleasure, darling, to see the smile and raw emotion on your face made me realise why I do what I do, so Thankyou aswell love.” We smiled and stared into each others eyes for what seemed like a long while. Tom finally spoke saying that he had better leave as he had to get up early for interviews. He pulled me in for another passionate kiss before bidding me goodnight in perfect Shakespearean and walking off down the street back to his house.

I went into the house with a goofy smile on my face. Amy and Jay were cuddled up on the sofa with cups of coffee. I poked my head in through the door saying good night before going into the kitchen and making myself a cup of tea to take up to my room so I could read before I went to bed.

I went into the spare room putting my tea and phone on the bedside and getting changed into my pajamers before settling into bed with my new book from the V&A. My phone buzzed a few minutes later.

Thankyou for a lovely day my darling.  I didn’t want to leave you this evening, wish I could have come in and held you until you feel asleep but alas work calls early in the morning and I would have trouble leaving you, just as I did tonight. I do however; look forward to a lovely evening spent in your arms tomorrow evening as I guide you around the dance floor. Parting in such sweet sorrow. A thousand times goodnight. Sweet dreams, my love T xxx

I smiled rereading the text over a few times before replying saying how much I had enjoyed the day and his company and that I was looking forward to tomorrow evening before drifting off to sleep with dreams of Tom.
