2. Divergent (Veronica Roth)

Like The Hunger Game, Divergent is about an appealingly ordinary girl in the futuristic dystopian society. In this future, people are divided into factions based on a primal human characteristic: selflessness, courage, friendship, knowledge, and truth. When a teen of the City turns sixteen they are required to take an aptitude test to determine which faction they are best suited for. In this case Beatrice Prior is a strong female lead that uses he unique personality to change society. She discovers a valuable secret about herself and the government controlling her.

This book has been one of my favorites to read. I expected it to be similar to "The Hunger Games" in the way that there is a female main character who navigates her way through a country that was mislead by a wrong power many years ago. But as I began to go deeper into the story I realized that it was more than that. Every time I flipped page the unexpected happened. Each chapter is a new piece to the whole puzzle. After finishing the second book "Insurgent" I discovered that the turmoil that Beatrice had gone through was only the frame, the edge pieces, to the bigger picture. For days I had been obsessed with the ending to "Insurgent", how surprising it was. Not only to the story but to the theme. Realizing that you may think you know the whole plan but you are only a pawn in this whole game. That each piece (character) is necessary to the entire inter-workings of the government conspiracy.

Diverge is a great book for people who love adventure and action twisted with family troubles, hidden pasts, secrets, and a love story.
