2. Chapter 1

Today was just another dreary waste of time. The harsh and cold air of England was all but welcoming. The busy atmosphere in the streets of London was expected, but never pleasant. Tomorrow was the day I had dreamed of my entire life, my interview for the internship at the National Gallery, the reason I moved to England. My whole life I have felt a connection to art, the way a painting can tell a story it would take a person years to tell, the way it can start, and just as quickly end, an era. In my seventeen years of being on this earth, I had never felt loved, ever, so art was really my only comfort, a shoulder to cry on.

I roamed the streets of Westminster, still taking in all that there was to see. I had lived here a whole year and I still hadn't seen all the tourist sights. I didn't want to feel like a tourist, as this was my new home, so I slowly discovered things as I went.

This internship would not only be an amazing experience, but would guarantee me a scholarship to the Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts, my dream school. It all started when I was about six, a girl at school had gone on a holiday to London because her sister had attended there. I looked it up and instantly fell in love. Being in an orphanage, you learn to deal with people crushing your dreams, but no one would take this away from me. I promised myself I would move to London and attend that school, and here I am today, a citizen of England, and only six months away from my dream. I would get there whatever it took.
