3. When They Met

The bite on his hand was large. It was bleeding, a bit.  But, it didn't seem to be that bad. The raccoon was small.

Leon lay in the grass and rested his head on a large section of decayed flowers.  He grabbed a particularly long petal and wrapped it around his hand.  He watched the sun rise, for a second Leon wondered, if he walked long enough, he may just be able to touch the sun.  Then he noticed how crazy the thought was.

Leon looked in his bag to see what food he brought.  He saw an apple, jar of peanut butter, a bag of Oreos, some left over pasta from two nights ago and a box of crackers.  He figured he had been quite smart with his pickings.

He also looked at his poach he kept his money, he found his life savings.  one hundred and twenty dollars, forty eight cents.  This money was earned by a series of Lemonade Stands, garage sales and bets with Ian Parker.  The forty eight cents was the part he earned from Ian Parker.  Although, there was still twenty dollars needed for Ian to pay of his dept.

Leon smiled, his bets with Ian were just about the best part of school.  Leon didn't know why Ian continued to make bets with him.  Leon always won.

Suddenly, Leon felt a foot crush his hand.

Sally had survived three day purely of the twenty- five dollars she had in her pocket.  She bought her breakfast, lunch and dinner at the On The Run TM.  She was starting to get worried.  Sally had managed to spend every penny of money she had.

Suddenly, it struck her.  Sally had to go home.  She had no money, therefore nothing.  She hardily had time to let that thought process, for she heard someone say a single word:

"Ow" This word changed Sally's life forever.
