5. Their Journey Begins

Sally woke up the next morning to the sound of Leon's snoring.  She grabbed a gum wrapper from her pocket and put it on Leon's mouth.  When his mouth opened to snore, he nearly choked on the wrapper, luckily, Leon woke up before he could.

Sally laughed so hard, no one had made her laugh for a long time, not since Roger Felcon.  She got up and reached out her arm to Leon.  He took it and she pulled him up.  "I just realized I never asked you why you were here."  Sally said.

"Do you want to know the truth?"

"Yes, of course!"

"I'm running away." Leon's grin faded as he remembered this.  He thought of his foster parents reaction, this made him smirk.

"Why?" Sally asked, ignoring his cheeky look.

"I had enough, I was being constantly tormented by, well, everyone.  They treated me like that rag doll at the back of the toy store, no one cares about." Leon's smirk slowing became a frown, he looked up at Sally's face.  It was then he noticed just how pretty she was. "What are you doing here?"

"I ran too." Sally said.  She began to walk towards the large area of trees about one hundred metres ahead.  Leon followed her.

"Well, it's only fair you tell me some back story.  I just, pretty much gave you my lives story and all I get out of you is 'I ran too.'"

"Leon!  I never agreed to this!"

"You should've seen it coming, gosh!"

"Fine, I'll tell you, but, just don't go telling everyone."

"I won't, now tell me!  Please!" He begged

"I guess, when watched so many people die and you hear all of those stories, you, stop caring.  For awhile I just watched everything happen, but eventually, I had enough, so I ran." Sally felt multiple tears fall down her cheek.  Just before she wiped them of, she felt Leon's hand do it for her.

"Well, do you won't some breakfast, lets have Oreos!"

Sally laughed, "I refuse to have Oreos for breakfast!"

The two children walked towards the sun, debating what to have for breakfast, they wouldn't have known it, but this was where there journey began.
