Ericka's Opus: The Journey of Discovering Myself

Ericka Madison Horan. The 15 year old daughter of Niall Horan and Olivia Horan (former Carsons/Clifton). Only child, plays soccer like her mom and writes music like her dad. When she was about 8, she's been working on composing one of the greatest opus of all time, and hasn't stopped since. Most would say that's something a prodigy would do, but it's her past time. But when something from the past comes up that could change her life, Ericka realizes that life is not just about the music, it's about the journey. (Third installment of Start of Something New trilogy)

20. Who can it be now?

"Why did you do this Ericka?!" Mom yelled at me while we were in my room. "No one was suppose to figure this out!"

"Well you shouldn't have told your best friend Emma about this because if it weren't for her I wouldn't have uncovered the truth that I knew I would figure out later!" I yell back.

"What are talking about?!"

"My temp! My license! College! You know what I'm talking about!"

"You already have a birth certificate!"

"It's not the right one!"

She puts a hand on her forehead. "I still can't believe you would do this...why would you even go across the Atlantic just to find out that Louis is your father?"

"Why didn't you just tell the truth to Niall in the first place?! That way we wouldn't even be having this conversation in the first place and I wouldn't have to live under a lie for the past fifteen years! I can't believe you kept this from me for my entire life so far! I couldn't even look at you the same when I found out!" I stand up from my bed. "You know how us kids have to earn parents' trusts? Well it's the same opposite and you just lost all of my trust in you! All of it!" I storm out of my room and run downstairs, leaving her in my room. I run out of the house, ignoring hearing my name being called by Niall, Louis, and Jarret, and out of the house and down to Linden Park.

I used to go to Linden Park a lot as a kid, I would always sneak out of the house just to go swing on the swings until mom found me. But now, I wasn't running away for fun. I was escaping. I find an empty swing and sit on it, tears rolling down my face.

I think big time about all of the things mom said, about all the things I said to her.

So when I hear her voice, I get up and walk away.

"Ericka I'm not losing you too!" Losing me too. Niall must be furious.

"You already lost me." I speed up. Running.

I must've not been looking where I was running because the next thing I hear is my mother calling my name, a car horn, and bones crushing.

What could I see?

So I wrote all of this within a half an hour so that's why it's short. But earlier today I was at an event to meet Marissa Meyer and she gave some advice for writing if one has trouble writing a chapter. And she said to write a list of things that could happen in a chapter and go off of that. So I did that and one of the ideas was similar to when Olivia was hit by the car in Right Here, Right Now. So I went off of that. Now I'm gonna continue that method if I'm ever stumped!
