Ericka's Opus: The Journey of Discovering Myself

Ericka Madison Horan. The 15 year old daughter of Niall Horan and Olivia Horan (former Carsons/Clifton). Only child, plays soccer like her mom and writes music like her dad. When she was about 8, she's been working on composing one of the greatest opus of all time, and hasn't stopped since. Most would say that's something a prodigy would do, but it's her past time. But when something from the past comes up that could change her life, Ericka realizes that life is not just about the music, it's about the journey. (Third installment of Start of Something New trilogy)

16. paradise and war zone

Zayn allowed us to stay the night with him and his current fiancée, supermodel Gigi Hadid. Apparently he and Perrie Edwards were only engaged and such but it broke off. So here we are, Jarret and I, at the house of a once boy band member turned solo artist and his model fiancée.

I was able to borrow some of Gigi's pajamas for the night and I walked into the guest room that Jarret and I were sharing.

"They seem nice than I expected." He said as I crawled into bed and he gets in on the other side.

"Yeah. It was nice to get to know them and hear some of Zayn's songs." I remark to when we were watching his first music video as a solo artist that made me feel like I was in a modern day music video for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Yes I love olden rock music. My dad has CDs from artists like Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stone, The Beatles, NSYNC and Backstreet Boys. There were more but I liked those couple that I mentioned. I learned that one of NSYNC member Justin Timberlake became a successful solo artist back in April.

"It was." He said looking at me. It looks like he wants something because he's never looked at me this way.

What the hell is up with him?

"Jar, why are you looking at me like that?" I ask.

"Er, can I ask you something?" He then asks afterward.

"Have you ever been kissed?"

I choked on my own saliva.

"I'm sorry, what?" I ask finally catching my breath.

Jarret sits up blushing beet red. "I'm sorry it was sudden." He looks down.

That's when I sit up. "Look, Jarret. I didn't have any thoughts about kissing anyone for the past 15 years other than my parents. And now with trying to figure out who my real dad is, I don't know what to—"

That was where I was cut off by Jarret.

With his mouth on mine.

My eyes widen from the sudden gesture that is now happening in the vicinity of my life. This is a milestone for me. My first kiss with my best friend and I don't know what to do because I'm just sitting here.

Jarret pulls away and I'm left sitting there. His lips felt warm and comforting and...I don't know how to describe it.

"I'm sorry." He says suddenly. "I didn't know what I was thinking and you're only 15 and it was—"

This was when I cut him off by grabbing the collar of his shirt and pull myself in to kiss him.

I guess you can say that the rest of the night Jarret and I watched Captain America: Civil War, discussed how I wanted our school to put on Hamilton as our next musical, and kissed.

So the next morning, we got up, said our thanks to Zayn and Gigi, and went off to the train station to Doncaster.

As we got on the train I began to think of all of the benefits of me kissing Jarret last night.

But while there were many benefits, there were equal amounts of costs.

If all of this story were true, today (May 15, 2016) would be Ericka's first birthday!!!
