Ericka's Opus: The Journey of Discovering Myself

Ericka Madison Horan. The 15 year old daughter of Niall Horan and Olivia Horan (former Carsons/Clifton). Only child, plays soccer like her mom and writes music like her dad. When she was about 8, she's been working on composing one of the greatest opus of all time, and hasn't stopped since. Most would say that's something a prodigy would do, but it's her past time. But when something from the past comes up that could change her life, Ericka realizes that life is not just about the music, it's about the journey. (Third installment of Start of Something New trilogy)

8. Jarret's house

"Ericka," Harry says as we pull into a driveway. "Welcome to where we used to live until we moved to America." In front of us was this beautifully decorated house with a flower bed out front and a swimming pool in the back. There were many bushes and shrubs that surrounded the house. So far, I have come to the conclusion that houses in England are WAAY nicer than the houses in America.

We step out of the car and I grab my luggage. We walk up the pathway and enter the house. Now I've come to the conclusion that English houses are WAAAAAAAAYY nicer than my house, and basically all of the other houses in America. Besides the White House.

"Come on." Jarret says to me snapping me back to reality. "I'll show you to the guest room." We walk up a set of stairs and when we reach the top, Jarret shows me where all the rooms are: his bedroom, his parents' bedroom, the bathroom, and the many guest rooms. How many people are over here?

"And here's where you're staying." We come across a door and he opens it wide. I was greeted by three white walls and one painted green wall. There was a green dresser with white drawers, a white desk with a green spinning chair, and a bed with a white bed frame and green comforter.

"Jarret," I start. "This is a gorgeous room! And there's even a view of the street below and the park in the distance." I say going to the window and looking out.

"Well, it's a pleasure for you to spend some of the summer with me. I really appreciate having an American friend actually come out alone with me to Holmes Chapel." He thanks.

I set my suitcases on the bed, pull out my laptop and phone, and place them on the desk. I pull out the folder that contains my opus and set it down next to the laptop.

"You're still working on that opus?" Jarret questions.

"Yeah. Why?"

"Nothing. It's just that you've been working on it for so long and that... I'm trying to say is that you should really stop."

No!" I yell. "I will not stop! I've been wanting to create an opus since I was eight! That was seven years ago! Now I'm fifteen and learning about the musical business of songwriting!! So please, let me continue."

He puts his hands up in surrender. "Okay. So whatcha wanna do?" He asks.

I shrug my shoulders. "Wanna go out and get something to eat?" I suggest.

"There's this bakery my dad used to work in before the whole famous thing." He brings his voice down to a low whisper. "Not to mention that he has loads of tattoos."

"I HEARD THAT, JARRET!" Harry screams from outside.

Emma pops her head in. "Sorry about him, Ericka, honey. Harry's... Just strange. Oh, and if you're going out, money's on the counter. Have fun!" She leaves the area.

I look at Jarret. "So how about a little pre-finding my dad snack at that bakery you were talking about?" I ask.

"Okay." He answers. We go downstairs, grab the money, head ourside, and begin our walk to the bakery.

A:N: Sorry for the long wait! I haven't really got an idea for the story until today.

So first hand prediction for all of you. Who do you think is Ericka's dad? Is it Niall, the one who's cared for her for her entire life? Or Louis, who doesn't even know she exists?

So yeah. Late night chapter and I'm good. Thanks for reading!
