The Words He Whispered

When Sadie West, ordinary 16 year old girl from Seattle, gets a text from her cousin to spend the summer with him and his friends, she's thrilled. Why wouldn't she be-when her cousin is THE Louis Tomlinson of One Direction, and she'll be spending two months with the boys! Little does she know, things are about to get a lot more complicated in the romance department...

4. Zayn

She was- is- amazing. Caramel hair, piercing blue eyes, and a laugh that can make the gloomiest day feel warm and gentle. Remembering Louis' warnings, I stayed away, but I knew this summer would be... different. And when Niall told Harry that he liked her- that was hard. Really hard. Niall is one of my best friends, and us both liking the same girl wouldn't work. So I tried to ignore Sadie's warm smile and pretend that every time she looked at me, a pleasant tingling didn't surge through me. Of course, it didn't work.

"Hey, Zayn," Sadie called from the couch, where she was working on homework.

"Yeah?" I said, coming over and sitting down next to her.

"I have this project for art that I just can't seem to get right. Lou told me your a good artist..." she trailed off uncertainly.

"I'm not that good," I said "But maybe I can help," Louis shot me an evil look from the other side of the room, but there was no way I was going to pass up an opportunity with Sadie. "Let's see...."

A few hours later, the sketch was finished, and Sadie had gone upstairs to work on the painting itself. She had decided on doing a beautiful golden retriever dog surrounded by a rainbow of swirling lights and colors. Sadie truly was an amazing artist. She could make a simple line come alive and turn into anything, and everything looked breathtakingly real. But a few minutes later, she came down frustrated. "A dog won't work," she simply said, and then grabbed my hand. "Come on," she said, "We're going to the beach instead. I have an idea"

Down by the beach, the wind was blowing ever so slightly, but it was warm and sunny. "Stand here," she instructed, planting me just out of the reach of the waves. Then she took out her book and began to sketch. A few minutes later, she shut the book, smiled, and took my hand, pulling me along.

"Where are we going?" I asked, laughing.

"I have no idea!" she giggled, and we took off together down the beach. Soon, we had reached a small cove, and we stopped, exhausted. We had a lot of fun, sitting and chatting for about an hour. But Sadie seemed to be slightly withdrawn. Every time we got too close together, she scooted away abruptly. I didn't push it, since technically, Louis could have my head for just this, but I had to admit, I wanted more. When the sun begin to sink below the horizon, we headed back to the cabin, where Harry was cooking up something delicious.
