The Words He Whispered

When Sadie West, ordinary 16 year old girl from Seattle, gets a text from her cousin to spend the summer with him and his friends, she's thrilled. Why wouldn't she be-when her cousin is THE Louis Tomlinson of One Direction, and she'll be spending two months with the boys! Little does she know, things are about to get a lot more complicated in the romance department...

3. Niall

I knew from the second I saw her. I loved her. How could anyone not? Her laugh, her smile, the way she seemed to always be at ease with us. It was something I had never felt before, with anyone, that feeling where everything will be all right, as long as you have her blue eyes and light laugh there with you to hold you. How could I have fallen so hard for a girl I've known for a grand total of five minutes? Sadie West, so ordinary, so usual... yet so perfect and amazing and unreal.  And why her? The girl who Louis hinted had a rough past, who he would trade any of his mates for. My mind floats back to the warnings Louis gave to us. "Stay away from my cousin. She's had enough heartbreak in her life already. Make any move at all, even just a flirty smile, and you'll be sorry." The edge in his voice had let me know he wasn't joking. And yet I still wanted to hold her, to kiss her. I shook myself out of it. "Knock it off, Nialler" I muttered to myself. But my heart wasn't in the program. The car pulled up to the lakeside cabin, a large structure with miles of woods around it. I grabbed the suitcases out of the trunk, and Sadie stopped me.

"I've got that Niall," she said insistantly.

"No, no," I said, feeling a shiver when she said my name "I can take it,"

"Niall, please, at least let me help," Sadie said, grabbing the suitcase, her braid trailing behind her. As we hauled the bags inside and set the bags in the front door, I noticed a long scar across her arm, but of course, I didn't say anything. "Whoah..." Sadie said, stunned. The house was beautiful, with a massive fireplace, a cozy corner with a television, perfect for late night movies, a long spiraling staircase, and best of all- a huge kitchen stocked with delicious foods of every shape and size. I smiled at her awe.

"Let me show you to your bedroom," I said, taking her hand and leading her upstairs to her room. I had to admit it was pretty cool. It was medium sized, with a bunk bed in one corner covered with soft blankets. The biggest beanbag chair I've ever seen sat in another corner, along with a huge bookshelf, and a flat screen TV. "Like it?" I ask.

"Love it!" Sadie says turning to me and giving me a hug. Just then, Louis walked by and shot me a glare. I dont think it was the hug, more us just being in the same room, alone. I gave him a sheepish look, and went downstairs, leaving Sadie and Lillian to unpack.

The boys came me a curious look when I came in. "Louis tell you off?" Harry muttered sympathetically.

"Yeah, how'd you know?" I responded.

"He was talking to me earlier, saying you looked a little too interested in Sadie. And he totally got in my face when I said she was cute." Harry laughed. My face went red. Was it obvious that I liked her? I hoped not.

"Really?" I say, trying to appear nonchalant. And apparently failing, because Harry's face suddenly got a mischevious look, and he lowered his voice.

"Niall, do you like her?" Harry asked. Way to just come out and say it Hazza, I thought to myself.

"No comment," I say, turning my back to Harry.

"Louis!" Harry calls.

"NO!" I hiss and jump at him, but all Harry says is,

"Niall and I are going for a walk! Be back soon!" Harry steers me out the door and onto the beach. "So, what's da scoop?" He asked, being as annoying as ever.

"There is no scoop!" I prostested.

"Yeah right," Harry smirked

"Okay, fine, I do like her,"  I confess "A lot. Like, I love her," Harry whistled.

"Well, it's not often we see Niall this serious," he said "But you know Louis' rules with her, she'll be a hard one to get to,"

"I don't want to 'get to' anyone!" I protest

"Sure," Hazza says, unconvinced. "Well, keep on trying, mate. Getting Sadie will be tough, seeing as all the other boys are probably in love with her to. As for me, her friend Lillian seems like a nice girl, and she's not restricted," he gave me a wink, and I knew that even though Harry was talking big, he liked Lilly just as much as I liked Sadie. I laughed and punched him playfully on the arm. One thing kept echoing in my head, though. That all the other boys are probably in love with her. A twinge of jealousy shot through me, but I pushed it away as pasted on a smile as we arrived back at the house.
