Lost Without You

Melody was never one of those girls who fit in with any groups. She tried to make friends, but it always got worse. They either told her to get out, she's not worth it, or that she didn't belong anywhere. Even her parents said so. Her thoughts consisted of having one special person in her life that would care about her, but she knew it would never happen, and that it was just a dream.

Melody never realized that she had a guardian angel, Mason Jai, who completely cared about her.

But when Melody meets a handsome young lad named Harry Styles, she thinks, "Are my dreams really coming true? Have I finally met someone who would make me 'happy'? Someone who would actually care?" But what if he had to go? Would Mason take over? Is she 'lost without him'?

Who would she fall for? Her guardian angel, or the lad she thought who first noticed her?

5. Trouble

 Melody’s POV

I woke up, and Harry was nowhere to be found. It was only 7:30 when I checked the clock. I got up and gathered my things to leave, when I passed by him in the kitchen.

“Don’t you want breakfast?” He offered.

“Oh, I didn’t see you. Uh, sure why not. I should get to school though. I don’t want to be late.”

“Why don’t you just skip today, and stay with me?” He asked with puppy dog eyes.

“I would love to, but I still have to learn you know.”

“Bloody hell. Who likes to learn? Pretty please?”
“How about no. I’ll be here after school. Can’t you wait?” I said with a smirk.

“Aw, okay. Well off you go, my princess.”

For the first time ever, I was leaving a place with a smile across my face. Harry made me feel better about myself. He made me realize the good things that’s coming ahead of me when I was about to kill myself. That day of meeting each other at the park was remarkable and I wish I could replay the moment again and again.

Harry’s POV

Melody Brooks, I love Melody Brooks, Melody Styles, Melarry

Bloody hell. I’m going crazy. Or crazy in love? Writing Melody’s name over and over continued to have more meaningful thought to it. Could she be the one? My other half? I wanted her next to me right at this moment or forever in general. I felt like it was too risky to even think that way. Don’t do anything stupid Harry. Let it happen on it’s own. Don’t rush it. But how could I not think about her? She was so beautiful, kind-hearted, understandable, perfect. I wanted her forever. Forever seems too promising right now, considering we’re not even together. Why am I too coward to ask her? It’s one question. But what if I don’t get the answer I was hoping for. Now I’m overthinking it. Harry just stop. I walked back to my room to find her phone on the night stand. Her phone is locked. harry is what I tried typing in, and it actually worked. Well isn’t she just fantastic? We have the same type of thoughts about each other, but neither of us have done anything about it. Ugh, why? I hope she’s not hiding anything from me. Like a boyfriend or something. That was just be embarrassing.

*10 minutes pass*

I can’t take it anymore. I want to talk to her. Knowing she’s not in my presence is killing me. 8:10 is shown on the clock. If I run, I might be able to catch her before school starts.

“Melody! Melody! Stop walking please,” I say out of breath.

“Harry? What are you doing here? Why aren’t you at school?” she said worried.

“I’m missing it today. I want to be completely honest with you, Melody. Don’t make fun of me though.”

Okay, this is my chance. My chance to confess.

“I’ve fallen --”

“Sorry, Harry! I have to go. School starts in 15 minutes. We can talk about this later, okay?”

“But Melody, I need to get this out now. I can’t wait anymore.”

“I’ll see you later Harry.”

And off she went. Why did I wait until she left the flat to get this off my chest? I am such an idiot. I hate myself. Who is that guy just staring at her so awkwardly? IS THAT HER BOYFRIEND? IS THAT WHY SHE HAD TO LEAVE ME? I just watched him carefully as I started walking away.

Mason’s POV

Finally. Melody is here. Maybe I should actually talk to her instead of just watching her from a distance. Just wow. Thinking about it...this whole time, I’ve been watching her instead of talking to her. I’m such a creep.

“Hey, Melody! Wait up!” I yelled. Oh my. Not only am I a creep, but an idiot. She looked at me with confused, yet gorgeous, eyes.

“Oh, hi Mason. Can I help you with something?”

“I uh. Wait, need-” I stuttered so badly. This is ridiculous.

“Mason, I’m sorry but can we hurry this along a little? I need to get to class,” she said sternly.

“Okay, so maybe I kind of like you. You’re just so beautiful, I don’t see why nobody would,” I tried saying in one breath.

“Oh. That’s great. Thanks for sharing, but I don’t really know you. Maybe you can talk to me during break or something? Get to know each other better. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover,” she winked and walked away.

Oh my goodness. Melody actually talked to me. She even winked at me. Is this real life? I couldn’t stop looking at the sky with a smile on my face. Then all of a sudden, I’m pushing into a tree.

“Aw, wittle Mason has a crush on the out cast. Perfect for each other, aren’t you?” Zayn said pushing me.

Of all people, the new kid from Bradford decides to bully me. What a joke. ‘Imma Bradford bad boy’ is all he says.

“Back off. I have a little crush but that’s it. Leave me alone please.”

He lets go, and walks away snickering. Don’t start a fight. You know you’re not stronger than him. I just walked to class. Melody was still in my sight. Some girl was picking on her for her attire. Her outfit was more girly than usual, but she looked stunning.

Melody’s POV

What did Harry need to get off his chest? It seemed so urgent, but I didn’t want to have to think of what he was saying during school. I already have to think about several things when I’m here. Did Harry want to tell me that he has a girlfriend? Did he just want to stay in the friend zone and not--. My thoughts were cut off when the bell rang.

“Ew, did you hear that Mason actually likes that freak Melody? She is so ugly, but I adore her outfit. Where do you think she got it?” Perrie said.

“THE THRIFT SHOP!” yelled everyone.

“I can hear you guys even though you’re far across the room.” I finally stood up for myself. But, no one heard. Mason actually likes me? What? He was so cute, but I wouldn’t think he would like my loser self. Oh no. I forgot my phone at Harry’s flat, and I’ve written things in my notes about him. My password was sort of obvious too. That was besides the point but, how can these two sweet, caring, and kind-hearted guys like me? Being cute was a bonus. I only cared because I’m a sucker for dimples. Harry had one, and Mason had two. Harry’s green eyes, and Mason’s bluish green eyes, I just couldn’t help but look into them when they say something to me. Just thinking of Mason, he’s nearly 6 feet tall, brunette hair, lean and fit body.. yeah, he’s to die for. And Harry.. he’s nearly 6 feet too. Curly brown hair that brings out his eyes.. They’re both just perfect.

It’s 12:45, and it’s lunch. I see Harry in the corner of my eye. Of course, he’s standing there waiting for me. But, instead. He picks me up before school even ended. Was this even legal?

“Harry, why are you here? School isn’t over until 3:45.”
“Too bad, come on. I want to take you to Gullivers World,” he said impatiently.

“But Harry-” he grabbed my arm before I could finish talking, and off we went.

Mason’s POV

Where was Melody? I just saw her leave with the same guy I looked at this morning. Who was that? I was in need to find out. I thought we were going to hang out during lunch too. I guess not. Should I still even try? I kicked the trash can making it too obvious that I was pissed off.

“Are you okay Mason?” Josephine asked.

“I’m fine, thanks.” I said harshly.

“Why are you so upset? I just wanted to make sure you’re okay..” Josephine said with a caring tone.
“I’m sorry, I have a ton on my mind at the moment. Don’t take it so personally.”
“Want to talk about it? I’m all ears,” she said with caring eyes.

“Can we sit down first, sorry. Anyway, do you know Melody? Well I kind of like her, but I don’t think she likes me. This may sound really creepy, but I’ve been watching over her and making sure she stays safe. During that, I guess I started to fall for how pretty she was. But don’t get me wrong, you’re beautiful too,” I explained.

“Oh, I don’t speak to her much because I have a feeling that she doesn’t like me or I just don’t have time. But did you tell her you liked her? Maybe she’ll want to open up to you more.”

“I tried, but she had to go to class and then she said she was going to eat lunch with me, but she left with some guy.”

She looked confused with what I said, but it was pretty straight forward if you ask me.

“Oh, alright. I’m sorry that had to happen. But I need to start heading to class. The bell is about to ring,” she said softly.

She walked away looking a bit upset. What happened? I didn’t do anything.. right?

Harry’s POV

We finally arrived at the amusement park. I was a bit hesitant while I was driving here, but we got here safely.

“Harry, why couldn’t you wait until I was out of school to take me here?” she sounded annoyed.

“Because I told you I couldn’t wait, and-”

“Harry! This is illegal! You can’t just take me out of school when you feel like it.”

“Well, I can’t undo it now can I?”

She rolled her eyes and looked around.

“Have you been here before?”

“I actually haven’t. It seems really fun,” Melody said in the most monotone voice.

“Melody, please lighten up. You’re here already.”

“Fine. I’ll try,” she huffed.

Now, I didn’t have to worry so much about her being so upset that she’s out with me. She should actually be happy she’s out with me. I can be fun.. Maybe not because I have the guilt inside of me for pressuring her to be here.

Melody’s POV

I really hate the fact that I’m skipping school right now because Harry couldn’t wait to talk to me. I like him and all, but what was so urgent? I don’t understand why 3 hours was too much to handle.

“Harry what did you need to tell me?”

“Well... I’m starting to fall for you. Yes, we’ve only talked for 2 days.. But it seems like enough to you know..” he tried explaining.

“Oh, I like to you too. You make me feel safe around you, and I’m able to open up to you, without being judged.”

I started to blush. I’ve never told anyone that before.

“Now that we’ve gotten that off our chest, let’s go ride some rides!” Harry shouted.

Whew, at least I don’t have to hide that from him anymore.

“Harry, do you mind if I have my phone?”
“You can have it when we leave, so I know you’re not planning for someone to get you here. By the way, I like your password, harry.”

“Well of course I wouldn’t do that, but I need to check to make sure my parents don’t call. Remember, I wasn’t at home yesterday? I don’t think they would just let that slip by you know.”
“Don’t worry about it. Your phone is safe in my pocket, I will let you know if they call you or not.”

“Okay fine I guess.”

*An hour later*

buzz buzz. buzz buzz. Caller ID : Mom

Call ended. 5 missed calls : Mom

“Harry, is that my phone? Can I see it? Hurry!”

“Oops, sorry. I didn’t feel it vibrate,” he apologized.

“Hello? Mom why did you call? Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll be home in a couple of hours.”

“Harry, I need to go now. My parents are waiting for me at home,”

“I don’t want to get beaten up again by them.” I mumbled.

“What? Get what by them?”

“Nothing...” I say. In such short time, he knew what I said. He knew that ‘nothing’ meant something.

“Harry, can you please take me home now?” I asked before things got awkward between us.

Harry’s POV

Right when she mumbled I knew what she meant. I didn’t bother to ask again because the word ‘beaten’ was too strong. Neither of us could handle it.

“Sure, let’s go now. I’m sorry for putting you to all this trouble. Is there any way you can forgive me?”

“It’s okay, Harry. And don’t worry. I forgive you. Thank you for this adventure. I’m glad I met you.”

When I reached her house, I had completely forgot to ask her something important.

“Wait, Melody!”

“What is it? Can’t this wait?”

“When can I see you again?”

Before she could even reply, we hear her dad screaming out his lungs for Melody. It was not a good sign.
