2. PART 1 - Hit

The sun, shining through my small, circular-shaped window, awoke me. I heard mild speaking through my door, and I knew that my sister and her boyfriend, had already risen.  My phone shone brightly in my groggy face, as I read a text from my best friend, Maeve. "Be at my house at 10. Hurry c: xoxo, Mae" I knew she expecte me to arrive earlier, hence the 'hurry'. Slowly, I slipped into my pink, fuzzy slippers and shuffled over to my closet. I pulled my loose, red, crop top over my head, and squeezed into my khaki skinny jeans. My slippers were replaced by my white converse, and I ran out the door with my camera, strap around my neck.

Behind me, my screen door slammed shut. I could hear my mother yelling at me to come back in the house for breakfast, but I didn't look back. I had to get out of my house.  I hadn't left since summer break began, a week ago. I was afraid that if I didn't leave, sooner or later, that I would turn into my mother, the lady who never left home, and considered anything outside of her close-knit house and family complete irrelevant.  Hearing the laughter of children, which to me was my cue, I pulled my camera towards my face, ready to get a picture to post to my blog. Out of the corner of my screen, I saw a small and frail figure waddling across the street that lies directly ahead of my house and the orphanage.  On the opposite end of my sceen, a fast moving big-rig traveled across the road. Instinctively, I dropped my 1500$ camera onto the sidewalk and sprinted to the figure. Ahead of the child and me, I noticed a matress beside a trash can, waiting to be picked up. Lightbulb. I raged ahead faster, lifted the child off the street and plunged him towards the matress. His landing was the last thing I saw, when I felt metal digging into my right side.
