11. Inconvenience

     Niall's POV

The plane was crowded, but silent. Everyone aboard was deep in thoughts or asleep. I set my carry on, a white Jansport backpack, borrowed from Alanna, on the middle seat. I slowly sat down in the window seat.

The outside was so beautiful, I almost couldn't stand it. I didn't want to leave. I had no idea what England would be like. A gentle wind blew through the trees, and carried a couple leaves to my window. I placed my hand on them, through the window. Then came the flashbacks.

The days I've spent with Alanna, our bond and trust. I already missed her so much. Hopefully she found the ticket.

"Is this seat taken?" an alto female's voice rang. She had black hair and bright, blue eyes. Her expression was friendly, and seductive.

"No, no. G-Go ahead." I replied. She smiled, placed her backpack beside mine, and sat, her hands on her knees.

     She turned abruptly. "I'm Kaleah."

     "I, I.." I stuttered. "I'm Niall." we shook hands.

     "Call me Leah."

     "Le-Leah." I smirked.

"Good morning ladies and gentleman." the plane's speakers boomed. "The flight will be delayed two or more hours. We apologize for the inconvenience."

     Leah scoffed.

Her hand crept it way to mine. Leah and I had been sitting on the plane for atleast three hours, getting to know eachother. She told me things that I never expected anyone, not even Alanna, to tell me. Leah gazed into my eyes, and I fell into a trance and begun to do the same to her. Her head leaned in and her lips grazed my own, like a warning. Still in a trance, I leaned back to her and our lips pressed together. She backed out. "I'll be back." she giggled, wiping her lips with her right forearm. I threw my head back in delight, smiling, laughing a bit, even.

"N, Niall..?" a scratchy and tired voice came from the aisle. A shaky sniffle seemed to awake the whole plane. Everyone looked my way.

Then I looked up, and lost my breath. It was like my lungs had checked out. I wish I could unsee, undo it:

My one love of my life, standing before me, eyes tearing up, her baby-pink lips frowning, eyebrows curled in pain. A drop of salty water dropped from Alanna's left eye. Pain. I stood, my mouth open, trying to say something. But I couldn't find any words and all that came out were a couple puffs of squeaking air.

Alanna looked at me, her watery eyes gleaming in the setting sun, as if she was saying I thought you were different. She backed away slowly, shaking her head in tiny movements.

"Alanna, I--" I screamed. She turned and took of down the stairs, and I followed her, Leah trailing behind me. "Love you." I watched her run across several yards of asphalt, after I had stopped to catch my breath. Now, it was my turn to cry. Pain swelled up in my eyes. It caught me off guard.

     "I love you." I whispered.
