8. Bank Robber

I stared at the newspaper. The headline read:

They had it wrong. There were five guys, but there was also a girl. That girl was me. I abandoned them. I read on;

They stole a total of $50,000, but only $35,000 was recovered. No one knows where the other $15,000 went.

That was my cut. I had it tucked away in the peeling corner of my wall. The men approached me a week ago. I got a name for robbing small stores and they heard I was good. So they decided to give me a big cut to get me in. I ran out with the money before the cops came. The other men were not happy.

I sat there for what seems like hours, but it is only a matter of seconds. I didn't know what to do. Should I to jump out and run to their car hoping they won't drive away? Do I ram my car into theirs and risk hitting Amber? Ugh. I sat there puzzled, dumbfounded, and in shock. I decided to slowly follow their car after they left. I waited and watched as they filled up their gas tank and argued with each other. They seemed unsure of where to go and what to do with Amber. I still had the $15,000 at my house back house. That's probably what they wanted.

They pulled out of the gas station and after 20 seconds of letting another car go in front of me I started to follow them. I checked the mirror to make sure I don't look like myself. You couldn't see my hair and my face was loaded with makeup. No one can tell. Finally after 30 minutes of trailing them, they stopped at a fast food place. I parked across the parking lot to make sure they couldn't see me. I watched the four men stroll into the building. If four of them went, then no one is guarding Amber. I grabbed a crowbar that I had stashed away under the seat. I lept out of my car and ran to their van as fast as I could. If this is going to work, I had to get away before they can see me.

I took the crowbar and smashed the front seat window. I looked in and Amber was tied up in there. I quickly looked behind me. No one is here. I stuck my hand in the window and unlocked the doors. Then I opened the passenger door in the back and hopped in. I rushed to the back and took a second to stare at Amber. Her long blonde hair was knotty, tangled, and dirty. Her bright blue eyes lost their color. She was still in her dress from the party. It was gold and used to be sparkly, but the sparkles fell off. Amber looked at me with so many mixed emotions. I don't know if they told her or not what I did.  I quickly started to try to rip off the duct tape. It was very thick because it was wrapped completely around her. I took my crowbar and start to try to rip through the tape, but suddenly I felt cold, ruff hands grab me. Then something hard hit me in the head. Everything went black.
