2. An Old Friend

The rain poured down like needles. I pulled up my hood and ran to the nearest shelter. My phone started to vibrate in my pocket. I pulled it out to see Catherine's caller id on the screen. I sighed. I clicked the green button.

Catherine: "Nialler? Where are you? Are you hurt?"

Me: "Hey Boo bear. I uh... Can't talk right now. I can't hear you over the rain."

Catherine: "Annie come home. We miss you... It's been months since we last saw you."

Me: "I know I know. I'll come home one day... But not yet. I have things to do first. "

Before Catherine could say anything else, I hung up and shoved my phone back into my pocket.

Like Catherine had said, it had been months since I left that day. I'd disappeared off the map... Well that was until the following morning when I got hundreds of phone calls from the girls. Since then I'd been living on the streets. I knew how to handle myself and I made sure not to be noticed by anyone that may have known about my disappearance.

I carried on walking through the streets until I reached the familiar building of the Scotland Yard police station. I pushed through the door and asked the receptionist if she knew whether Detective Inspector Greg Lestrade was currently in his office. She sent me up to see him straight away. As soon as I walked into his office, he jumped up and shook my hand.

"Ah. Annie. We were starting to worry about where you had gotten to. Are you okay?" He smiled

"Yeah I'm fine. Just anxious to get searching for this Moriarty guy." I replied dully.

Lestrade sighed and nodded. He turned and sat back down behind his desk.

"There's a guy who can help you. People think he's Moriarty's arch enemy. But he's good when it comes to solving things. And he can pretty much deduce your whole life story in a matter of seconds."

Lestrade scribbled something on a bit of paper and handed it to me.

"Good luck little one." He smiled.

"Thanks." I turned and stopped when I got to the door. I turned around.

"Oh. And I'm not a little one."

Lestrade laughed, then said "I know. But no matter how old you are I will always think of you as a little one. Be careful."

I nodded then left.

As soon as I was out of the building, I opened the slip of paper.

221B Baker Street, London. Mr Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John Watson.

I raised an eyebrow slightly and then shoved the piece of paper in my pocket. I put my hand out slightly as a taxi approached. The taxi stopped and I got in and gave the cabbie the address. As we sped off, I pulled out my phone and texted Catherine.

"I love you Boo Bear."

I put my phone away. I started fidgeting, not knowing what to expect when I arrived at 221B Baker Street. The cabbie pulled over and I payed. I walked up the steps outside 221B. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
