13. leaving

“yes! lets go! but first…” Sara took Kili’s hand, and pulled him up the spiral staircase to her chambers “i need to take some things” picking up a small bag, Sara crammed in an extensive amount of clothing, and then smiled up at Kili, so excited at the prospect of an adventure. they both ran down the spiral staircase, and Sara  wrote a small note: whoever finds this note, know that i am safe. do not look for me, for i do not wish to be found. i will come back someday.. when  the time is right. -Sara. looking up at Kili, she felt confident that she had made the correct decision. “There’s no turning back now.” she said, then reached up to plant a kiss on his lips.
Kili smiled as she packed her things. When Sara had written her note he answered: “No, there’s not”. But as they left her home behind he said. “You know that we always could return, if you really want to one day…” Kili mounted the horse and reached out a hand for her. “Are you ready?”
Sara took both of Kili’s hands, and looking into his beautiful brown eyes, she replied “I dont think i could ever be more ready. I love you, and being with you.. i just know its the right thing to do!” pausing for a moment, she then went on to say “Kili, my love? I’ve never been on a horse, i dont know how to ride one.. and well…please do tell me where we are going”

Kili laughed kindly when she told him about the horse. “Come here I’ll help you”. He gave her a hand as he helped her up on the horse, making her sit in front of him. Then he flicked his hands and the horse started moving. “I was planning on going to the woods outside of Bree” he told her. “It’ll be a long journey, but i figured it would be harder for the other elves to find you if we rode over the mountains… But don’t worry, I know of a few safe paths”.

Sara leaned back into Kili, as they rode together on the horse. It was strange, to be so high above the ground. “I dont know how i feel about being so high up” She said, laughing nervously “Must be quite a fall down…” She said, starting to feel quite afraid. but having Kili right behind her made her feel safe. she knew that she would come to no harm as long as he was with her, and she knew now for a fact that he would never leave her. after Kili told her about her plans to travel to Bree, Sara answered “How long do you expect for it to take, my dear? The skies are already starting to darken, and though I am not afraid to ride in the dark (because i am with you) you need to rest. you haven’t slept in so long, my love.”

Kili chuckled. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep you from falling. As for Bree; I don’t know. At least a few days I reckon, we’ll have to stop at a few places to find food”. That she worried about him getting sleep made him smile. “I’ll be alright for a few hours, but you’re right, we’ll have to find a place soon. But first I wish to get out from your parents land, it is to easy for them to find us here”.

They rode quite quickly through and soon they were out of Mirkwood and they could start to look for a place where they could rest. “This meadow will do just fine” Kili mumbled, jumped off the horse and then helped Sara down. “Or what do you think?”

Sara agreed to ride on with Kili, but made him promise that after they were out of Mirkwood, that they would look for a place to rest for the night. True to his word, Kili suggested sleeping in the meadow. “Its perfect, my love” Sara smiled to herself for a few moments, thinking about what it was going to be like, sleeping with Kili. after Kili let go of her after helping her down from the horse, Sara went to skip her way to get something to sleep on, but tripped, twisting her ankle. though it hurt terribly, she stood up, seeing Kili’s concern, and said “I’m ok” with a slight smile, but after standing for a total of three seconds, her foot gave out and Sara ended up back on the ground. she let out a quiet “oh” of surprise.
