Beautiful Goodbye. [Liam Payne]

I was stupid, and childish. I should’ve told him it was going to be okay, and not to worry. But I was stupid. I should’ve been there for him, like he always was for me—But I wasn’t.
The sirens sounded more distant now, than ever—like they were never going to reach me. I heard a car’s breaks, and the sound of multiple doors opening but never closing. I barely made out the sound of footsteps, and light sobbing. “Charlotte!” I heard my name called. I knew exactly who it was. I tried to call back, but couldn’t. The smoke clogged up in my throat, and I coughed. “I love you.” I said—barely above a whisper. As I breathed heavily—smoke was ever where, and the flames illuminated almost everything. I couldn’t help but think—I hope they get to me in time.

3. Chapter 3: Tickets To London.

*Charlotte’s POV*

I woke up to the steady, loud beeping of my alarm clock. I slammed my hand down on my clock, shutting the infernal beeping off. I rolled over, lazily shoving my head back into my pillow. I stayed there for a few minutes, before pushing myself up off the bed. I shivered, as my feet came in contact with the cold hard wood floor.

I stood up, and stretched before grabbing an outfit from my unpacked clothes, and going to the bathroom.

Half asleep, I ran the water for my shower until I got it to my liking before stripping down and stepping in. I stood there; motionless for a good 5 minutes just letting the warm water run over my body.

When I was fully awake, or close enough to it, I started washing my hair, and all that other mess you do in the shower. When I was finished I wrapped a towel tightly around me, and stepped out. Using a dry washcloth I wiped off the fogged up mirror. I stared at my reflection. Propping myself on the counter with my hands, I just stared at my reflection.

I slid the mirror to the side, pulling out my make-up bag. I unzipped it, and got my make-up stuff for today, Eyeliner and mascara. I was tired, what do you expect? I slowly and as precisely as I possibly could, put on my eyeliner, and then I switched to putting mascara on. When I finished, I put them both back into my make-up bag, and zipped it shut. I then got dressed in my outfit for today. ([polyvore] )

I ran a hand slowly over my shirt smoothing it out, as I stared at myself in my full-body mirror. I walked over to my bed, and picked my phone up and slid it into my pocket. I hoisted one of my duffle bags onto my shoulders, and held the other one in my hands.

I made sure I had everything before exiting my room, and closing the door. I had to slowly make my way downstairs, to keep from falling. I set my two bags down by the door, and went into the kitchen to get some breakfast. I swear I opened every single freaking cabinet, and there was nothing there. Okay, fine there was stuff there but not what I wanted.

“Charlotte, what are you doing?” I heard Nicole ask. I lifted my head slowly from the counter. “Where’s all the breakfast food?” I asked, ignoring her question. “Well, since we’re leaving today I didn’t see the point in buying anything.” She said sipping her water. I narrowed my eyes are her.

“What time are we leaving?” I said giving up. “Plane takes off at 9.” She said chuckling and going back to her room. I glanced over at the clock. “It’s only 7…… WE HAVE TIME TO GO GET FOOD!” I shouted after her. I waited impatiently for her to respond. “Fine, then. Don’t respond to me... I didn’t want to talk to you anyway.” I said as I plopped down on the couch in the living room.

I flicked on the TV and channel surfed. 7:45 rolled around, and Nicole finally came back down stairs. “I was watching that.” I said without taking my eyes off the now black television screen. “Well, you’re not now, if you want to get to the airport in time, we have to leave now.” She said walking back into the hallway.

“What if I don’t want to go?” I said as I heaved myself off the couch, and followed behind her. I hoisted my bags back onto my shoulders, and walked out the front door, not bothering to wait for her.… I was kind of in a bad mood.

I shoved my bags into the back of her car, and leaned against the passenger side door, my arms folded tightly almost protectively around my chest. “You got everything?” Nicole asked as she closed the doors, after placing her stuff in.

“Yeah.” I said looking from the ground up to her. I stopped, looking over her outfit fully for the first time. ([polyvore] ) “Interesting combination of colour’s.” I said opening the car door. “I’m making a fashion statement.” She said slowly; looking down at her own clothes. I pulled my iPod out of my back pocket, and climbed into the car.

“Why didn’t you ever tell me you had family in the U.K?” I asked as Nicole started the car. “It never came up.” She shrugged it off. “Who are we staying with?” I pressured on. “We’re staying with my brother, Liam.” She said pulling out of the driveway. “Interesting.” I said under my breath.

“Why are you asking all of these questions all of a sudden?” Nicole asked glancing over at me. “No reason.” I said, as I unlocked the screen of my iPod. As soon as I knew she wasn’t going to say anything else I opened up Temple Run, and began to play.

It was 8:43am before we ever got to the airport. (Hehe, I made her stop for food.) I locked my iPod’s screen, and slid my iPod into my back pocket, before throwing my pink and black duffle bag on my shoulder. I balanced my other one in my left hand as I closed the door with my right.

“Wait for me!” I shouted to Nicole, who was halfway across the parking lot. I picked up my pace, so I could catch up to her. “What about the car?” I asked catching up with her, as we walked through the big doors leading inside. “You remember Tanner, don’t you?” She asked pointing in front of her.

“Who could forget him?” I said un-enthusiastically. “Be nice…. I’m letting him take the car home though.” She said as we made our way through the crowds. “I’ll meet you at the gate.” I said, before she could drag me over to where Tanner was sitting. A smirk plastered on his face.

“You don’t want to see him?” She asked shocked. “No.” I said before turning around and walking in the opposite direction. When I reached the gate, I dropped the bag I was holding in my hands to the floor, and waited. It didn’t take long for Nicole to come back, and I’m glad. As much as I didn’t want to go, the airport was so crowded, it made me want to.

“Tanner said to tell you hi.” Nicole said as she handed the tickets to the lady. I rolled my eyes. “Well, I would like to tell him some things…” I mumbled. “Why don’t you like him?” She asked as we boarded the plane. “He’s just one of those people that I hate for no reason at all.” I said hoping she would drop the subject.

“That makes no since, Char.” She said looking at me. Just my luck, she didn’t drop it. “It makes since in my head.” I said defensively, as I sat down. “Well, it doesn’t to me; Tanner’s really sweet if you get to know him.” She said sitting beside me. “Can we just stop talking about Tanner?” I asked, hoping she would realize I didn’t want to talk about it.

“Sure.” She said confused. “What time will we be landing?” I asked taking out my iPod yet again. “About 1pm.” She said pulling out a book. I didn’t respond, I just put my headphones in and leaned my head against the window of the plane; Looking out of the window, periodically.

I scrolled through my songs, I clicked on one of my most recent downloads. It was also one of my favorites. The familiar beat filled my ears. I smiled. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Nicole staring at me…

I didn’t think my music was THAT loud… I shrugged it off mentally and went back to watching the people outside of the window. They were loading the luggage. I mentally played a game to see if I could find ours… to no luck. I eventually went to creating a personalized playlist on my iPod for this plane trip.

Once I was done, I locked my screen and put it in my front pocket. I closed my eyes, hoping to go to sleep. I ended up humming along to three songs before I fell asleep.

~Some Hours Later~

“Charlotte… Charlotte! Charlotte!” I opened my eyes slowly, as I sat up. “What?” I said sleepily. “We landed.” She said innocently. I grumbled unhappily, as I turned my iPod off, and put it back in my back pocket.

I stood up slowly, stretching as I did; and picked up my stuff that I had with me. “Alright let’s go.” I said, now fully awake. After we got off the plane, we had to go to baggage claim… and I swear, if I would have gotten bumped into anymore than I did. I would have screamed. It was so crowded; you would have thought the world was going to end soon.

As soon as I saw my bags, I snatched them up; I was so ready to get out of here. “Nicole, where are yours?” I asked impatiently. “Right there.” She said as I let out a sigh of relief. When she had gotten her bags, we made our way to the nearest exit. But the nearest one wasn’t near enough.

When we got out of the airport, I breathed in deeply. “I am so happy to be outside!” I said as we continued walking. We called a taxi, and climbed in as soon as it came. “Where to miss?” The driver asked looking at us in the mirror. I looked at Nicole, as she gave him an address. “Hey, so tell me more about your brother.” I said turning and facing Nicole.

“His name is Liam. He’s the sweetest guy ever. Trust me when I say that. Uhm… I can’t really think of much. I haven’t been around him in awhile…” She said looking down. I dropped the subject, and just stared out of the window. We went from bustling city, to forest in mere seconds.

I opened my mouth to ask Nicole if she gave the right address, but quickly shut it as we came up to a huge house… And when I say huge… I mean HUGE.

It was like something you would find in a magazine. It was big, and gorgeous. Her brother couldn’t live here all alone, right? Not possible. The taxi stopped and we got out slowly, and stood there in awe. We snapped out of our trance, and Nicole paid the driver, as I got mine and her bags.

After we got all of our stuff, he drove off. “This is amazing.” I said looking up at the house amazement filling my voice. “Tell me about it.” Nicole said as we walked up to the front door.

She knocked on the door slowly, as I pulled my phone out of my pocket. We waited there patiently. “Are they even here?” I asked not looking up. “Trust me.” Was all she said, I shook my head slightly as I checked my twitter.

Both of our heads snapped up, as we heard laughter and shouting from behind the closed door. Nicole gave me an ‘I told you so’ look, before the door slowly came open. I put my phone in my pocket as I watched Nicole’s expression go from happy to this weird combination of worry and happiness.

“How can I help you, loves?” A British accent asked. My focus went from Nicole to the guy standing at the door. I shook my head at Nicole, and spoke up. “We’re looking for Liam.” I said looking in Nicole’s direction. He nodded slowly, and walked back into the house.

“He didn’t know we we’re coming did he?” I asked smirking a little. “Nope.” She said smiling. “Dude, That’s not cool.” I said laughing. “At least next time don’t freeze up like that.” I said before—Liam I’m guessing—came out of the house and onto the porch. I looked at Nicole, before looking at him.

“How can I help you?” He said, before turning and looking at us. I swear I think his eyes got just about came out of his head when he saw Nicole. And me, I sat over to the side trying to hold back my laughter. “Surprise?” Nicole said stretching her arms out, as he stared at her.

“What are you doing here?” He asked. “We came to see you. Duh.” She said motioning to me. Great…

I repositioned my duffle bags on my shoulder uncomfortably. “Hi, I’m Liam.” He said turning and facing me, sticking his hand out. “I’m Charlotte.” I said shaking his hand kindly. I stood there awkwardly as they kept on talking… and talking… and talking… Gawd! They just would not stop talking.

My shoulders were getting sore, and I was very tired of standing. I glared at Nicole, as she looked over at me. I think she got the hint, because not long after that we we’re lead inside.

The inside of the house was even more gorgeous than the outside… and I didn’t think that was possible. Liam gave Nicole directions to our rooms, and I followed behind her, looking around in awe at all of the decorations. This was going to be an amazing trip.

I threw my bags on the floor, before falling backwards and landing on the bed that was in ‘my’ room. I groaned as I laid there staring at the ceiling. “What’s wrong with you?” I heard a voice say from the door. I lifted my head enough to see Nicole standing there with a smile on her face.

“Nothing’s wrong. I’m just… you know how I am around new people.” I said staring blankly at the ceiling. “Yes I do. But trust me, you’ve got nothing to worry about with these guys. They’re not going to do anything.” She said reassuringly. “Wait. What do you mean ‘these guys’ you mean there is more than two?” I asked looking up at her. “Yes, Char. There are five of them.” She said chuckling.

“And, you didn’t bother telling me this before?” I asked throwing my head back. “Nope, because then I knew you wouldn’t want to come.” She said coming and sitting beside me. I looked over at her. I knew she was right, so I didn’t bother arguing with her. “So, do you want to go meet them now? And get it out of the way?” She asked poking at my side lightly.

“Fine.” I groaned before heaving myself off the bed. “Great!” She chirped, before leading the way back downstairs and into the living room, where all of the guys were. Great… this is just great.
