Life Of a Direction-ette

Try being that girl that everyone is used to not being popular. That girl that doesn't win anything. Try. Try this: Try being that girl that ends up being famous. That girl that everyone wants to be like, but secretly hates. Also, try being all those girls and not knowing what to do about it.

Charlie didn't ask for fame. And yet, it consumed her.

Charlie was used to being an outsider. Y'know. That one girl that everyone knew but never talked to. She didn't even think that she would win the direction-ette contest. And she sure as hell didn't think she would fall for someone in one direction. When things get tough, she wants nothing more than to go home with her mom. Some things aren't so easy.

5. Day Five

We had a good couple of days before the actual first concert so on Tuesday I pulled on some sweats and went for a jog around the city. I didn't really mean for anything to happen while I was out. I just wanted to get in a good run before I was called back to the hotel. I jogged down this really long road and was mobbed by paparazzi.     "Charlie! Is it true that you're dating Taylor Lautner?"     I was stunned but I still answered with an, " I wish."   "Charlie, which boy in the band would you date?"   "What kinda question is that?!" I asked as I jogged around them. But like any other effing nosey person they still trailed me. I didn't even notice that Harry had caught up with me.    "Hey! You were gonna leave the hotel without me?" He asked me while throwing his arm around my shoulders.    "I just wanted to take a jog." I told him while removing his arm.    "Jog where?" He asked me, not even disturbed by the fact that I moved his arm.    "Anywhere."  Lie. I wanted to go see my mom.    "Can I come?" His green eyes meeting mine.    "Nah. I'll just go on my own. But thanks for the offer."     And yet, he still walked along side me.    "Harry, I don't need someone to walk with me. I'm perfectly capable of walking on my own."   "Nonsense! I don't mind it at all." He said as if was asking him to join me.  I just shook my head as I began to jog again. Surprisingly, Harry was able to keep up with me pace.   "Where are the rest of the boys?" I asked as we turned another street corner.   "Looking for you."    "Oh." I said. Just the one word. There were a bunch of other thoughts that were  swirling through my mind. Like, why did everyone find me so interesting. I mean look at me! I'm not that pretty! I'm not that funny. AND I have horrible taste  in clothing. I walked out side in public with sweats on!! While one of the most cutest guys in the universe jogged next to me wearing some of the hottest clothes I've every seen.    "How did you find me?"  I asked as I slowed down. We were near my house so I didn't try to tire myself.    "Well, you said, ' I'll be right back', so I went to go see where you were going. Then I saw the paparazzi so I came to help."    "You didn't think of telling the other boys?"   "Why would I do that? They wanted to find you and I found you. I'm happy." He told me with a shrug.    I simply laughed at him as I jogged up my front stairs.    "Who lives here?" He asked as he followed my up.   "I do." I told him. I unlocked the door and let it swing open.    "MOMMY!!!! I'M HOME!!!" I yelled, scaring the crap out of my mom's dog, Dex.    "Sorry, Dexter." I whispered. I ran up the stairs and into my mom's room. She took a double take and realized that it was me.    "Charlie!!!! I haven't seen you in-"   "Two days. Exactly." I gasped. She was holding me really tight.    "How's everything?" She asked me as we walked down the stairs. She stopped short when she saw Harry playing with Dexter.   "Who's this?" She barely whispered.   "Mom. Really? This is Harry. Harry, this is my mom." I said introducing them to each other.   "Hi Ms.Renders." He said all business like. He held out his hand to her and she shook it slowly. I could help but smile.    "Mom. I just wanted to stop by, but I really have to go." I told as me and Harry began to walk out.  She pulled me back and whispered, "He's cute."    I shook my head with a smile as I kissed her on the cheek and caught up with Harry.    "What did she say?" He asked me when I caught up with him.   "She says your cute."    He smiled at me and shown his dimples as if to say he was flattered. I pushed him lightly and we went to meet up with the boys at the hotel. Now I have to agree with my mom. Harry is really cute. He was even cuter when he met my mom. Like, really! Usually my mom doesn't like my friends besides Jess. So, when she said she liked Harry, I was happy.    "My mom happens to like you, y'know." I said to him as we turned down yet another street corner.   "Really? She looked pretty shocked to see me." He told me with a faint smile.   "Yeah. She's not used to me bringing a guy in the house." I sped up slightly.    "I don't believe that."   "Why not?" I asked. I was actually genuinely curious. He wasn't really predictable to me. Maybe it was that he had green eyes and dark brown hair. It could be that he was nice. Maybe...but I wasn't sure at that moment.   "I just assumed you had a boyfriend." He confessed, looking at me suddenly. My breath caught and I looked away quickly. Why did assume I had a boyfriend? Look at me!!!!     "No. I don't have a boyfriend. If I did, I probably wouldn't be here." I told him, truthfully. I looked back up at him and realized he was looking back at me. He sighed and wrapped an arm around my shoulders.    "Then, I'm happy you don't have a boyfriend. Because if you did, I wouldn't have ever met you." He told me with a smile. I just shook my head and wrapped my arm around his waist and thats how we walked back to the hotel.
