Life Of a Direction-ette

Try being that girl that everyone is used to not being popular. That girl that doesn't win anything. Try. Try this: Try being that girl that ends up being famous. That girl that everyone wants to be like, but secretly hates. Also, try being all those girls and not knowing what to do about it.

Charlie didn't ask for fame. And yet, it consumed her.

Charlie was used to being an outsider. Y'know. That one girl that everyone knew but never talked to. She didn't even think that she would win the direction-ette contest. And she sure as hell didn't think she would fall for someone in one direction. When things get tough, she wants nothing more than to go home with her mom. Some things aren't so easy.

14. Chapter 14

I woke up in my own hotel room with a weird feeling of sadness. I hadn't call Jess or Allison the night before about my mom because of my entire rant with them the day before. I sat up and wrapped the duvet around me as I pulled my phone off the green nightstand.

"What, Charlie?" Jess asked me once she picked up.

"Hey, Did you talk to my mom anytime yesterday?" I questioned her  quickly. I was still on pins and needles around her when it came to my mother.

"She's fine. Your mom didn't like how you left a stupid ass note for her to read." She told me with a smack of her gum.

"Good. How are you guys?" I asked Jess as I looked around the room. It was big I guess. In comparison to others I staid in, it was better. It was reddish with black trim to the wallpaper. The bed was a full and had bedding to match the walls. Not very original.

"Fine. When are you getting back? We kinda need you here with us."

"For what? You guys are adults now."

"You have the key to the house." She told me as if it was okay to say so.

I took a deep breathe before I said,

"Probably in a couple of days. I'm not gonna stay for to long."

My friends were very much starting to get on my nerves. The constant reminder that I was famous or that I could buy what ever I wanted.

"Well, that's good!" She said with a surprisingly happy tune to her voice.

"What do you think would have happen if I didn't win and you won the Direction-ette contest?" I asked her. I knew she wouldn't win since she can't sing to save her life but still.

"You won the contest?"

"You were there when I told you!" I yelled.

"No. The Direction-ette contest was for a fan to be a roadie, not a member of the band."

"Roadie? A what? WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN A MOTHERFUCKING ROADIE?!" I yelled through the phone.

"Char-"  Jess began.

I hung up on her and ran out of my room and down the hall until I got to Zayn's room.

"What Charlie-" He began with a sleepy voice.

"Why did you guys lie to me about me not winning the Direction-ette contest?" I cut him off. He blinked at me before proceeding to allow me into his room.

"Are you going to tell me? I really don't think that you guys should have lied about me winning." I began; Zayn threw up a had to shush me and began to say,

"We didn't lie; we just didn't tell you. I'm actually a little surprised that you are getting mad about this since you're kinda famous now. Therefore, who cares?"

I pulled my knees up to my chin as I thought about this. I should have been happy, right? I became a member because I sang okay-ish.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." I whispered to him. He only nodded as he pushed me so he could lay down to get some more sleep.

"You're such a lazy bum." ,I told him with a laugh. All he did was grip his pillow tighter.

"Come on! Don't you have to get up soon?" I asked him. He opened one of his eyes at me and closed it again with a groan.

I sighed and got up to leave, but Zayn pulled me back and forced me lay down next to him. My nose was scrunched up on his collarbone.

"Zayn, we gotta get up sooner or later-"

"We're gonna stay like this and you're gonna like it." He told me as he held me tighter.

I staid back stage for their Oregon concert until Louis pulled me out during the time for their cover time.

"Charlie you have to sing!" He told me though his mic. I shook my head quickly but everyone still cheered.

"Come on Charlie." The boys urged me on. I still said no so Louis turned to the audience and asked, "Does anyone want to hear Charlie sing?!"

Everyone screamed loudly. Louis gave me his mic and told me to sing. Everyone was quiet as I stood there.

"Um... Who knows Kiss Me  by Ed Sheeran?" I asked shyly.

Everyone cheered in response.

I cleared my throat and began,

"Kiss me like you wanna be loved

You wanna be loved You wanna be loved This feels like falling in love Falling in love We're falling in love   Yeah I've been feeling everything From hate to love From love to lust From lust to truth I guess that's how I know you So I hold you close to help you give it up"             When I finished, Harry nearly knocked the mic out of my hands to kiss me.
