Life Of a Direction-ette

Try being that girl that everyone is used to not being popular. That girl that doesn't win anything. Try. Try this: Try being that girl that ends up being famous. That girl that everyone wants to be like, but secretly hates. Also, try being all those girls and not knowing what to do about it.

Charlie didn't ask for fame. And yet, it consumed her.

Charlie was used to being an outsider. Y'know. That one girl that everyone knew but never talked to. She didn't even think that she would win the direction-ette contest. And she sure as hell didn't think she would fall for someone in one direction. When things get tough, she wants nothing more than to go home with her mom. Some things aren't so easy.

12. Chapter 12

I woke up to the faint yelling of my retarded cell phone. I answered it without a second thought. I was just so fucking sleepy.

“Yes?” I asked with sleepiness very evident. I rubbed my eyes with a loud and dramatic yawn.

“Charlotte? Are you awake?” Harry’s raspy voice asked.

“Its seems that way; yes.” I said with a hint of sarcasm. I had been asleep in my mother’s room with her purple satin drapes covering the -bright as hell- sun light. Her velvet-soft covers warped me up in a soft warmth.

“How’s your mum?” He asked me. I blinked a few times until I completely understood what he said.

“My mom? Well, she’s fine. We talked all this week. She asks about you.” I lied. I really liked him and I didn’t want him to think my mother liked Zayn more. I tried to make it known that I strictly liked Harry. Not Zayn.

But is it so bad if I liked Zayn, too? Zayn not so bad now is he?

“Yeah. I think she fell for your curls…. I know I did.”  I barely whispered. I wanted to let him know I liked him but with a bit of subtly.

“How are you?” He asked me after a moment. He seemed a little happier with the way he was talking.

Please let it be about me!

“I’m great. Never better.  Just a bit sleepy.” I told him, probably the first thing I said with out a lie in it. I just liked him so much. Oh Shit.

“I’ll leave you to your resting, but call me back.”

“I promise.” I said sleepily.

Once I hung up, I pressed my phone to my lips, thinking about the boy with the green eyes and curly hair.

“Char! We’re going to the store do you want anything?” David asked me.

“A Sprite would suffice ” I said from the pale blue couch in the living room. I was reading poems and some books from my mom’s closet. She never told me she was a fan of literature,

“K. Me ‘n KC will be back later. Do. Not. Eat all of my damned banana pops.” He told me with a stern look.

I only smiled and continued to read Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken.

“That looks boring.” Jess said to me. I looked over the papers at her. She had her nose in her phone, so I hadn’t think she’d notice my reading.

“Boring? I kinda like it.”

“Its old people shit and you know it.” She told me. She hadn’t even looked up until I scoffed  She let an amused smile play on her lips before she asked,

“Its not old? Last time-“

“Shut up Jess and talk to your man whore som’ore.” I told her with a smirk before I went back to reading. She shut up about it after that.

Allison skipped in with a bright smile on her blushed face. She had on a floral dress with some tacky yellow flats on. She had her ash blonde hair up in a ponytail. She looked like a preppy school girl.

“Who have you been fucking?” Jess said as she looked up at the blushing girl that sat on a chair that some how  matched her bow that sat atop her hair.

“Remember Jonathan from fourth block French?” She asked as she straightened out her skirt.

“The nerd with the funny glasses?”I asked as I put a pencil mark on the line I stopped at.

“Yeah.” Ally giggled and then sighed. “He’s great actually. He says he loves me every time I see him.”

“Have you fucked him yet?” I asked with a tiresome smirk.

Allison shot her eyes open and gulped before whispering, “It was more of a mutual set up.”

Jessica and I widened our eyes as we looked at each other and then busted out laughing.

“Holy Shit, Ally! You gave away your sacred jar of cookies to a junior?” I asked.

“You gave yours away to KC. No problem. Then you gave it away to Harry Styles. I really don’t see why I have to be treated differently because I’m me and you’re you.” Ally said. Her words were directed towards me and they hurt like a bitch.

“I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings, Charlie but I can’t pretend to be okay with you guys constantly making me out to be the good girl. I have a life god dammit!” She said to us (ME). She looked amused from her cursing but quickly brought back the bitchy face.

That night, Zayn and I talked for hours on end.

“No way! She actually cursed?” He asked me with an amused laugh.

“Yes. It was so adorable even though it was directed towards me.”

“I’m sure she hadn’t mean it. Just give ‘er some space.”

“How much space is the question. But, anyhow .. How are you guys?” I asked. I hadn’t asked Harry about the boys and I missed all of them.

“Good. We’re asked about you a lot.”

“Good questions, I hope.” I said, trying to sound funny.

“Heh. They were good questions.”

I switched the phone from my left ear to my right before I asked, “So what are you doing?”

“Watching Friends.”

“I love that show.” I said simply with a yawn. I rolled over on my back as I looked up at the ceiling.

“You sound sleepy. Do you want to go get some sleep? I can call back tomorrow.”

“Okay, babe. Call ya tomorrow.” I said sleepily.

“Good night.” He said hesitantly.

It was after He hung up that I realized I called him babe.

“Aww Shit!” I said to my sleepy self. Better luck tomorrow I hoped.
