Life Of a Direction-ette

Try being that girl that everyone is used to not being popular. That girl that doesn't win anything. Try. Try this: Try being that girl that ends up being famous. That girl that everyone wants to be like, but secretly hates. Also, try being all those girls and not knowing what to do about it.

Charlie didn't ask for fame. And yet, it consumed her.

Charlie was used to being an outsider. Y'know. That one girl that everyone knew but never talked to. She didn't even think that she would win the direction-ette contest. And she sure as hell didn't think she would fall for someone in one direction. When things get tough, she wants nothing more than to go home with her mom. Some things aren't so easy.

10. Chapter 10

The boys and I were waking around Toys "R" Us because I had to buy gifts for my baby cousin's birthday party when Jessica called me.

"Charlie, we need you to come to New York." Jess said fast.

"Wait! Wait, what?" I asked confused. I was in Seattle and I couldn't leave while I was still on tour.

"Its-its y-your m-om. S-she- somthing happened-" She sobbed through the phone. I stopped in my tracks.

"What?" It was barely a whisper as I stood there. The boys were all around the store so I stood there by myself.

"She was in a car accident and she keeps asking for you." She told me.

I was silent as I sunk to the floor letting small tears fall.

"We really need for you to be her, Char." She said. I could hear her sobs in the background as she tried to muffle it.

"Its gonna be okay, Char, I know it-"

"How bad is it?" I interrupted.

She was silent on her end.

"Its pretty bad."

Zayn walked down the aisle, he was about to turn but then he saw me.

I looked up at him quickly and he stopped what he was about to say. He sat next to me and pulled me close.

"What happened?" He asked me.

"My mom." I said. I rested against his shoulder before i told Jess that I'll be there as soon as I could. I still ran around Toys R us until I found the fastest, redest toy car there. I bought him a tablet /too, just so he won't ask for anything for Christmas from.

I staid in my hotel room that night while they were at their concert. I just talked with Jessica. She filled me in on the most part. There was still things she refused to tell me. After the concert, Liam didn't go to the after party, saying Zayn filled him in. He stayed with me and we talked about it.

He never interrupted me, listening so intently to me and at that time thats all I needed.

"When I was younger, I was in a car accident, too. She was depressed for weeks until she found out I was fine. She said it was the worst three weeks of her entire life." I told him truthfully.

I never felt closer to someone other then my mother before that. He made feel better and he had barely said a word.

"Thank you." I said sleepily into his chest. I curled up to him with a sigh and thanked him numerous times.

"You're welcome. Its gonna be fine." He said into my hair.

I gave him a breathy laugh before I told him I knew. I fell asleep in his arms and it was a peaceful night.

I left a couple of days later by plane. All the boys were there with me and I gave each of them a big hug since I was gonna miss them all.

When I got to Harry, though, he pulled in for a really long kiss. His finger tips massaged my scalp softly. When he pulled away he whispered,

"Make sure to miss me 'cause I'll be missing you."

I only nodded with a smile. They called my flight and ran with a wave.

I sat on the pure white plane, listening to Zayn's ipod that he slipped into my pocket when he hugged me. I had my own personal playlist that he wanted me to listen to. When I landed, Jess, Allison, David and my old flame, KC.

"Well. I'm here now." I said to jess when she pulled me in for a tight hug.

"I missed you so much! Where have you been?"

"On TV" I said with a sigh. Before I let her go, I whispered, " What is KC doing here?"

"Thought you'd might want to try you luck now that your famous."

I let go of her and said," I swear to god! I will never know what the hell to do with you!"

She smiled at me.

"THERE GOES MY FAMOUS BESTIE!!!!! WHERE'S THE BOYS?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?" Allison yelled in my ear.

I only laughed at her small frame. She had to be a whole foot smaller than me. She was adorable, like a little thirteen year old.

"Hey." Was all I heard from David. He pushed me and we stared play fighting for a bit before Jess pulled us away from each other.

Then standing there with his tall, manly glory stood KC. He was the jock at school. The football player that everyone loved, even me. When we started dating it was fake. Completely fake. I thought it was real. Hell, I wanted it to be real. He was blond with gold specks in his deep brown eyes. His torso longer than mine and his smiled could blind some one. He had a think southern accent that made all the city girls swoon.

He only dated me for a bet between friends. If he could sleep with me then his friends owed him one hundred dollars. We only dated for a month but it felt like three.

"Hi." I said to him weakly at the airport.

"Hi." He said back to me. Our eyes met and for a second, JUST A SECOND, I fell for him again. But I remembered the kiss I shared with harry not an hour before and I didn't care about KC.

"So are we going to the hospital now or what?" I said with fake enthusiasm as we walked to the car.

"Ugh-" Allison started as if she knew something.

"Char, we might have not have been completely honest with you." Jess said to me.

"What do you mean?"

"Your mom's injuries are worst than I said."

"How bad are they?" I asked.

"Really bad. Like that time you died on call of duty bad." KC said to me. I smiled bleakly at his southern accent. I realized I had a big thing with accents. A) Harry. B)KC.
