The death records

My name is Ivy. I am a Shinigami.

4. but.... why?

William sat down himself, right in front of me as I sat in shock.

"Yep, you guessed it. You. You're the only one I want... I even formed a contract in your area to stay close to you." He admitted his head resting on my shoulder, his face facing my neck. I gently pushed him off, and took his hand. I traced the mark that was proof of the contract.

"William, even if there were no laws against-" I couldn't help myself, I started to cry. "You do realise I have to kill her right? I'll have to take Darcy from you.." I said, tears flowing down my face. William hugged me.

"I don't care, I told you why I did it. Her task for me was to always protect her little brother, even when I started threatening that if she didn't do as I told her, that I would kill him, she never lost her faith that I would protect her brother." he muttered as he hugged me.

"William, who are you talking to?" a nine-year old came down the stairs pouting. "You were supposed to play video games with me!" the boy said. as William stood up.

"I'm talking to my friend, Michael. Go play your games yourself you little shit." He hissed at the kid. "You complain all the time anyway!"

"I'm telling Darcy on you when she gets back!" Michael shouted. He grabbed a dart and threw it at William, who had resumed sitting in front of me, head on my shoulder. William caught it, and threw it back at the kid. Micheal ducked and stormed off.

"Does he always act like that?" I asked the demon as he traced the lenth of my neck.

"Yea, especially when Darcy isn't here. It's always such a pain. I live with the most annoying humans on earth." He muttered into my neck and I laughed.

"Damn." I looked at my watch. "Do you mind if I do take her?" I asked the demon, and his hand perched at my throat, but he pulled it back instantly.

"No, but you might wanna do it now." He said flatly into my shoulder

"The dispatch have already noticed theres more than one shingami in this house. You need to get out!" I ran towards the window and vaulted over it. William looked confused, but followed me anyway.

"Wait, Michael is a-" He started, but I cut him off.

"Yes, Michael seems to be a shinigami too. The dart he threw at you was his choice of weapon." I explained briskly as I ran. I knew that if I ran any further with the demon close behind, he would be killed. "Tell me fallen angel, if you could would you go back to heaven?" I asked William with a hint of laughter in my voice.

"Only if you were there." He laughed at my question. I sighed, he was smitten. I suddenly got swept off my feet. I looked up and saw a beam radiating from William's face as we jumped across the rooftops. I laughed as he skidded on a roof. He jumped across a gap, and I screamed. It was huge. We landed on the roof opposite and he continued running. I heard a crackle behind me. I knew what was going to follow.

"RUN WILLIAM!!" I screamed as the sound grew louder. He sped up, and I could see sweat on his forehead. He jumped another large gap, but on this roof, there was a small compartment able to fit one person. "No, I'm staying with you!" I protested as I knew he would try to protect me.

"Ivy, I don't have much time left before I run out of energy, then I'll probably be captured. He flickered in and out of his human disguise. I saw his wings were only partially black, and his clothes were a light shade of grey.

"Will, look..." I whispered as the sound grew even louder. I jumped out of his arms, my chainsaw appearing by my side again. I saw William finally turn to his other form. I smiled, and he looked down at his clothes.

"Wh-what?" he stuttered as he saw what had happened. I noted to myself. Not a demon, but an outcast angel. But he used to be a demon, didn't he? I came across him a month ago, and he was completely dark, exept for his natural features. His wings, his clothes, his nails... all black. Now, his wings had just a bit of black on them, at the tips of the feathers (Which actually looked kinda cool) and his clothes had patches of black, like they had been tie-dyed and his nails were like a normal humans.

I felt the weapon before I saw it, a small dagger, thrown to hit my head. I caugt it between my fingers as I saw the inscription on the blade, although I already knew who's weapon it was. I felt my chainsaw in my other hand as I threw the knife back.

"Daniel!!" I screamed as he looked at me regretfully. I could see he had been forced onto the dispatch, as usual, but he didn't hold back. Heartless. The word ran through my head as I realized I would have to fight the fiancee I didn't love. I HATE arranged marriges. The laws changed in the human world, but in the shinigami realm, we were pretty old fashioned about our customs. I gritted my teeth. I loved Dan, but like a brother, and he felt the same way. He didn't want to be engaged, neither did I, but we had been forced into it by our parents. He threw the dagger again, but this time aiming for William. Tears slid down my face. I didn't want this, I didn't want this at all.
