4. Wedding Day

Eliza's POV.

"Eleanor! Stop fidgeting!" I cried in frustration as I struggled to zip Eleanor's dress up. "Unless you want the zip to give you a harsh injury, I suggest you sit still. Jeez." We were all sitting in her bridal suite, and while Danielle and Perrie got their hair and makeup done, they left it to me to take care of the nervous bride. How lovely.

"I'm sorry! I'm just so excited! Yet scared, nervous, and I am starting to feel like jelly!" She was literally shaking. I kinda felt bad for her.

I sighed softly and looked at her in the mirror. "Just try to sit still okay? Your hair isn't even done yet, babe. Just let me zip up your dress will you?" She nodded slowly, taking deep, soft breaths. "That's better." I gently tugged at the zip one last time before it finally went up smoothly. "Finally." I groaned. "Now, you, Ms. Eleanor Calder, you listen here. You are going to be the best wife ever. Okay? And if Louis doesn't treat you right, he's got another thing coming. You hear me?"

She smiled brightly, pulling me in for a hug. "Thank you so much Eliza. I don't know what I would do without you." She gushed and kissed my cheek before letting me go. I smiled at her one last time before I was called to get my hair and makeup done too.

"Perrieeee!" I singsonged, "It's your turn!" I winked, motioning over to Eleanor who was sitting at the mirror, staring at herself.

"Alright El, ready for your makeup?" Perrie smirked, sitting down in the seat next to her with her huge makeup kit. Damn that's a lot of makeup... I chuckled before going out, heading over to the next door room where Danielle was with the stylists.

"Hello, love. How are we doing your hair today then?" The lady asked, a warm smile on her face.

"Er, half up, half down? Can we curl the ends too?"

"Of course! At least yours isn't as complicated as the others." She chuckled and got straight to it, twisting and turning my hair and gelling it into all sorts of places- well, the right places- until it all looked neat and presentable. She then plugged in the curling iron whilst she braided my fringe, clipping it to the back. "Is your hair dyed, love?" I nodded softly, careful not to make harsh movements. "Ah, that explains it."

After curling my hair, she got straight to my make up, putting shades of dark blue and silver, mixing them together on my eyelid itself. Then she brightened up my cheeks, and refined my cheekbones and chin, putting a light coating of blush on my cheeks. The second she pulled out her lipstick, I knew what was coming. "Wait- er, would you mind if I did that myself?"

Patricia, which I had just found out was her name, looked at me funny before handing me the bright red lipstick. I smiled gratefully at her and started to carefully apply the red substance onto my lips, framing them nicely, and being careful not to go out of the lines.

Once I was done, I handed the lipstick back to her, and shot myself a smile in the mirror. "Am I done? I'm a little worried the bride may have had a little too much to drink already. And it's not even the reception party yet." I chuckled and got up, slipping my heels back on before heading back over to El and Perrie.

"Eleanor put the glass down! Jeez that has to be your 5th cup." I told her sternly, pointing a finger at her.

"Actually, that's her 6th cup..." Perrie corrected, looking over at Eleanor. "But I don't think she's drunk." That was all I needed to let out a sigh of relief.

"No more champagne for you." I told her, taking the glass out of her hands.

"But Eliza! I need it!" I just shook my head, quirking an eyebrow at her. I gave her a stern look which made her cower back, sighing a little too.

"Now, your hair." I mumbled. I stared at it for a little while before starting to put it up into a bun sort of thing, letting two strands of hair fall to frame her face. Her curly hair made any hairstyle look good. Heck, she'd look good in dreadlocks if she had any. "Do you think that's okay?" I asked Perrie as she applied a soft layer of lipstick.

"Yeah that looks great." She smiled and passed her lipstick over to me, telling me to put some on too.

"Where's Dani?"

"I'm here!" Danielle singsonged as she rushed into the room, her face a little flushed from running in her heels.

"Woah Dani what's up with you?" She just shook her head, waving her hand to say nothing. "Well okay then..." I was about to have a seat in the chair next to El when the was a gentle knock on the door. "Come in!" I called, before a head of brown hair popped through the door.

"Hey girls, it's time." Her dad smiled, eyeing the lot of us. "You lot look gorgeous by the way." Eleanor seemed to have stiffened under my hand that was on her shoulder as she slowly stood up, wobbling a little on her heels.

"Hey, easy there." I mumbled, steadying her. She smiled and thanked me, walking slowly over to her dad. "We'll see you in there." I told her and we all gave her kisses on the cheeks and met Lou in front of the elevator.

When we got into the church, we were rushed into a line, me being closest to where El and Lou were to stand. Louis was already there, tapping his foot nervously. I shot him a wink and he smiled, giving me a fist bump. "Good luck mate." I grinned.

I forced my eyes to avoid the line of groomsmen across from us, afraid I might see something I didn't want to– well more like someone. Ed sat at the piano, waving at me and giving me a thumbs up. I retuned the favor, before he got orders to start playing.

The second Ed pressed down on the first note, everyone stood up, their eyes averting to the two big doors at the end of the hall.

-

"Congratulations you two!" I squealed, hugging them both tightly.
"Thanks, love. And thank you so much for helping out." Louis smiled, kissing my cheek whilst Eleanor did so too. I blushed a little.

"Naw it was nothing." I grinned. "Anywho, come on! It's time for the bride and groom's first dance." I stated, winking at them as I took Eleanor to one side of the dance floor whilst Dani took Lou. I have no idea where the groomsmen all are, but that didn't matter at the moment.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Zayn's voice came through the speakers, "the time has arrived for the bride and groom's first dance! Would everyone clear a space on the dance floor please? And would Mr. Ed Sheeran take his place on stage. Give it up, everybody, for Ed Sheeran!"

The crowd cheered wildly, yet they managed to clear a big space on the dance floor with ease. "Good luck." I whispered to Eleanor as I gently pushed her towards Louis. I smiled as Eleanor wrapped her arms around Louis' neck and he gently placed his on her waist. Ed started singing Give Me Love whilst they slowly started moving, swaying, and well- dancing.

As they were dancing I felt someone stand next to me. "They look so happy don't they?" Niall's voice said softly, a small smile creeping onto my face.

"They really do." I sighed happily, side-hugging Niall as I watched them giggle and have a little banter as they dance.

They danced a little more before they did a little bow, and split, Eleanor walking back to me, and Louis walking back to where Dani was. "Your turn." I heard Eleanor whisper with a smirk, just as Zayn's voice came back over the speakers.

"Give Mr. and Mrs. Tomlinson a hand! Wonderful dance." Zayn winked, "Now, a well known tradition in the Tomlinson family, the maid of honor and best man will take the dance floor." I froze. I knew who that meant, and I honestly didn't know what to do.

"Eliza?" I heard his voice, he was standing behind me.

I turned around to face the green-eyed boy I fell in love with back in New York. It was him, not the one who kissed Taylor Swift because management forced them on a date... This was Harry. My Harry. He held his hand out, offering to take me to the dance floor. I stared at it for a moment, before gingerly placing mine in his, letting him lead me there.

The instrumental of Fix You by Coldplay started and I felt my chest tighten. This was the song that had kept circling my mind when Harry asked me to be his... Cheesy, I know. But you can't erase history I guess. Then I heard the angelic voices of the 4 boys who probably planned all of this.
I placed my arms around his neck, whilst he cautiously placed his on the small of my back, as though if he placed it in the wrong place, I'd explode.

I examined his face quietly as we started swaying back and forth. Under the amounts of concealer Lou probably put on him, you could see the outlines of his eye bags, which just seemed to agree with what Dani told me. Was he really miserable?

"I'm sorry." He blurted before pulling off me and running somewhere- actually, more like sprinting.

“Harry?” I whispered, mostly to myself, as I stared at the door he had run out of. Louis ran over to me, asking if I was okay. I nodded stiffly, still trying to process what happened. He was about to run after Harry when I put my arm out to stop him. “Wait- don’t. I’ll go.” I told him, taking my heels off and passing it to him. “I’m so sorry this had to happen at your wedding.”

It started of as a jog before I started full on sprinting in the direction he ran. I’ve been in Louis’ house before for the preparations, but I didn’t exactly get to memorize where everything was. It wasn’t long before I was lost in his mansion of a house.

“Harry?” I called, hoping he was close enough to hear me. “Harry where are you?” I started walking aimlessly, looking into every door in hopes of bumping into him. This house had 4 floors, and each of these godforsaken floors were bloody huge. That’s when  I heard it. A soft whimper. It couldn’t be Harry... Could it?

I quietly tiptoed to the sound. I was surprised I could even hear it because of the blaring music from the El and Lou’s reception party. Ed was rocking it out to Iridescent by Coldplay and let me tell you, it sounded amazing. Anyway, back to the whimpering sound. “Harry is that you?” I asked, stepping through the door.

It was a pretty much empty room. A big, empty room at that. But in the middle of all the emptiness was a white grand piano. On the seat was Harry, crying and sniffling, just as I had thought. "Harry... Are you okay?” I murmured, taking a seat next to him, careful not to sit so close. He shook his head slightly, not looking where I was and keeping his eyes on the piano keys. “Tell me what’s going on, Harry. Please.” I was begging.

He slowly looked over at me, his eyes red and dull, whilst his cheeks were pink and wet. I gently used my thumbs to wipe away the tears. Not once did either of us say anything as I stared him in the eyes. “I can’t live without you.” He finally whispered, his voice cracking mid-sentence. But that wasn’t the only thing that cracked... My heart did too. “I’m so sorry I forgot our dinner date, I’m so sorry I went for that date with Taylor even though all she had were empty threats, I’m so sorry I didn’t chase after you when you left my room, and I’m so sorry I was a coward and didn’t show up at the airport. I regret all of that now, and if I could take it all back, I would. I swear to you. But I know I blew my chance, and I know I ruined everything. And I’m just so so sorry.”

I didn’t care that the tears were falling out my eyes, I didn’t care that I had let sobs escape my lips, and I didn’t care that my tears were ruining my makeup. I grabbed his face and hugged him so tight, I swear he would have choked to death. But he didn’t pull away. Instead, he wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me as close as physically possible. I buried my face deep into his neck as I continued to sob uncontrollably. All the nights that I spent missing him, and holding in my tears, finally reached is breaking point as all those trapped up tears were let loose like a broken flood barricade.

“And even after all that, I still wish you would give me a chance to make it up to you.” He mumbled into my shoulder, a sad smile on his face. I pulled away gently and looked him in the eyes.

“What if I gave you a chance to do just that?” I told him, sniffling as I rubbed my nose.

“Then I’d take that chance without a second thought.”

“Prove it.”

With that, he grabbed my face, smashing his lips against mine. It felt so familiar, yet brand new. The butterflies, the fireworks, the soft curls between my fingers. It all felt so familiar. But the one thing that was different, was the feeling of his lips against mine. Considering I hadn’t felt them in ages, I would say it’s quite reasonable.

“I love you so much Eliza. And I’m so sorry I let you go.” He stuttered out, his green eyes slowly gaining their color again. “Words can’t come to explain how fucking sorry I am. I’m so damned sorry that I’m fucking swearing... I love you.”

One last sob escaped my lips before I finally let my heart speak. “I love you so much, too.” I sighed and kissed him again.

“Can I take you out tomorrow? To prove how damned sorry I am? Please?” I didn’t have to think twice. I’ve missed him too much to let him go again. No matter what he did.

“Sure.” I smiled, for once, it was a real smile.

“We should probably get back to the reception party shouldn’t we?” He chuckled, standing up and offering his hand.

“I guess we should.”

We stopped by the toilets to clean up, washing our faces whilst I re-did my makeup simply. I looked over at Harry in the mirror, a smirk gently playing on my lips. Our eyes locked and the butterflies errupted in my stomach making my cheeks flush red. “I didn’t get a chance to tell you how beautiful you look.” I only smiled shyly, thanking him.

“Alright you done?”

“Yeah.” I grinned before we walked side-by-side, back to the back garden. The second we stepped onto the grass, all the eyes turned to us, staring intently at the two of us. “What?” I didn’t know if acting oblivious to everything would make them stop staring, but it seemed to have taken their eyes off us as we made our way back to Eleanor and Louis.

“Er, hi.” Harry mumbled quietly, his hand and the back of his neck, I however decided to keep up the oblivious act.

“Hey guys! Haven’t cut the cake yet right?” They both gave me a funny look before Louis gave a hand signal to Zayn.

“Actually, we aren’t cutting the cake until you two finish your dance.” Eleanor stated, pushing my heels in my direction. I blushed realizing I still had no shoes on. I thanked her, slipping my shoes on, before Louis pushed us both back onto the dance floor.

“Right, ladies and gentlemen! Let’s all pretend nothing happened before yeah?” Zayn chuckled into the microphone, the whole attendees laughing too. “Well, let me introduce to you the maid of honor, Ms. Eliza Smith, and the best man, Mr. Harry Styles! Let’s get this tradition started.” He stated, just as the four of them re-entered the stage.

“When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse”

I stared up into his green orbs, regretting the whole year I spent ignoring the agonizing pain in my heart. The year I spent missing him, craving him, just wishing he’d burst through my doors because he couldn’t take it without me either. But maybe it should have been me?

“And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?”

“Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you”

“And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth”

“Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you”

“Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I...”

“Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I...”

“Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you”

The minute the song ended Harry did the most unexpected thing. I was literally paralized as I felt his soft lips press against mine. It took me a few seconds before I responded, my fingers travelling discretely to back of his neck. I gently pulled away, leaning our foreheads together. “You crazy bastard.” I breathed, hoping no one else around us heard. Suddenly, the whole crowd burst into a loud clap, all cheering and smiling widely.

“You planned this didn’t you?” Harry smirked, looking at the four grinning boys who now stood across from us, their hands jammed into their pockets. “Sneaky gits you lot.” He chuckled, wrapping his arm around my waist. “Thank you though.”

I smiled widely and thanked them too, bringing myself a little closer to Harry. I haven’t felt this happy since the day he asked me to be his girlfriend... And that was a long time ago. “This calls for a second celebration!” Danielle squealed, Perrie, Selena, Justin, and Lou coming up behind her.

“I agree.” Eleanor grinned as she gave me a high five. “Time to cut the cake!”
