Second Chances

Sequel to He's Mine | During Eleanor and Louis' wedding, Eliza comes in contact with the one person she had hoped to never see again. But what was she thinking? That he'd suddenly disappear from her life? No. Harry was here to stay, and this time he was determined to fight for them to be together again. But the real question is... Does Eliza believe in Second Chances? Even if it wasn't entirely Harry's fault?

2. Liam's Surprise

Eliza’s POV.

I woke up to the pounding of my wrist. “Bloody hell that hurts.” I muttered to myself, grabbing hold of my left fist.

“Here. It’ll ease the pain.” Eleanor, who I had just realized was in the room, told me, passing me a yellow pill and a glass of water.

“Thanks El.” I sighed and downed it, waiting for the effects to kick in.

“So I hear you and Liam are going out for lunch? Liam Payne I hope?” Eleanor interrogated, almost making me choke on my water.

“No, I’m totally going out for lunch with Jerk Face.” I answered, sarcasm dripping from my words. El just giggled, obviously catching my drift.

“Alright well, you better get ready because he should be arriving in a good half an hour.” She warned me, casually skipping out.

“LOVE YOU EL!” I called after her, plopping back down onto the bed. I heard her shout something along the lines of “I LOVE ME TOO!” But I couldn’t quite catch it. Though I laughed anyway.

I went into the bathroom, unwrapping my fist and looking at it. Ew the cuts look absolutely gruesome… I shrugged it off and slipped off all my clothes, stepping into the shower to prepare myself for the interesting, or not so interesting, day ahead. Well it might be interesting because I’m going for lunch with Liam. Hoorahhh.

After doing my necessities, I wrapped myself in a towel, scanning through my items of clothing. I finally decided on some dark denim jeans with a plain white v-neck, and my light grey leather jacket. After putting those on, I grabbed my white converse, re-wrapped my fist, and then headed to the front door, taking my phone on my way there.

“El?” I called, hoping she was still here.

“El went to go buy some groceries, but I’m here!” I squealed jumping into his arms, not wanting to let go. “It’s great to see you love.” Liam cooed, kissing my head.

“I missed you Liam.” I whimpered, burying myself deeper into his shoulder.

“I missed you more. Now let’s go get some lunch. I know you must be dying of starvation.” He joked, prodding my cheek lightly.

“Oh you know me so well.” I smirked and we made our way out of the apartment, heading down the street.

“Now Liam, as much as I love spending time with one of my best friends, what exactly brings you to Cambridge?” I asked, quirking an eyebrow at him. He shifted a little in his seat, before a huge grin formed on his face as he stared at something that stood at the door.

“Because a certain someone was dying to see you again.” I heard a sweet voice from behind me, my eyes widening is shock.

“Holy shit it’s you!” I squealed whilst I ran into Danielle’s arms, hugging her tighter than I had originally planned to. I seemed to be doing a lot of squealing and hugging today.

“Gosh, you look absolutely gorgeous!” I gushed, examining the adorable outfit she had on.

“Awe thank you love! You look far better though.” She smiled, leading us back to the table.

“I told you she’d be surprised.” Liam smirked, putting his hand on Danielle’s knee, who was currently sitting opposite me.

“I have to admit babe, you were right.” Dani giggled, ordering herself a plate of macaroni and cheese. “I hear the pasta here’s good right?” She questioned, hoping I’d say yes. I quickly nodded, assuring her that the pasta here was one of a kind.

After finishing up, Dani decided to stay here for the week, to help out with the wedding plans and such. “I think that’s a great idea!” I grinned, jumping up and down a little. Liam huffed, pouting like a little baby.

“But I want my Dani.” He whined, giving Danielle his signature puppy dog eyes.

“You know that’s not going to work babe. Now come on, get outta here! The boys are waiting for ya at home.” Danielle jested, pecking him on the lips before Liam sulkily left, leaving the two of us to walk back to my apartment.

“So are you going to ask yet?” Danielle questioned. Confusion filled me up as I stared at her lost. “Don’t pretend were weren’t dying to ask how Harry was doing.” She stated, folding her arms across her chest. I tried avoiding eye contact as I tried convincing her I wasn’t.

“Okay for one, you’re not looking me in the eye. And two, you’ve been stuttering every damn word that’s came out of your mouth.” She didn’t look impressed. Her eyebrows were quirked whilst she looked a little disappointed that I wasn’t being honest with her.

“I’m sorry,” I sighed, “I just don’t like bringing him up… I feel so embarrassed that I had actually believed he cheated. I- I should have trusted him… But I didn’t. Every time I hear his name, or see anything related to him, I feel my stomach go up to my throat and guilt takes over.” I wasn’t tearing up, but I subconsciously bit down on my lip. “I hate it.”

Sympathy washed over Dani’s features as she looked at me sadly. “I can’t tell you that everything is going to work out, because I’m in no position to do so. But I can tell you this. Harry’s miserable. Like, not a joke, miserable.” She placed her hand on my shoulder and made a turn, heading up into my apartment.

“Yeah well, I wouldn’t blame him.” I mumbled whilst I unlocked the door, stepping in and taking my jacket off, folding it onto my arm. “Want something to drink? I’ll make us tea. Eleanor’s in her room so you can go get her. Second door on the right.” I offered, which turned out to be more of a statement than question…

Dani chuckled and shook her head laughing, making her way to Eleanor’s room. Kyle had gone out with a group of his friends so the house was free from all male presence. I started boiling the water, then went into the pantry to get the tea bags.

“Rosemary vanilla or chamomile raspberry?” I called out to the two, who soon came strutting into the kitchen.

“Chamomile raspberry please!” El chirped, sitting onto the kitchen stool. “Oh god how I haven’t had that in so long.” She chuckled. Danielle nodded in agreement, sitting down next to her.

“Chamomile raspberry it is.” I smiled and popped the teabag into the kettle. “So shall we get planning?” We all shared looks before splitting up to find pens, papers, my macbook, and my organizer.

“Alright, where exactly do we start?” Eleanor asked, looked over the mass of stationery that was laid sprawled out on the floor.

“Dress.” Dani stated, grabbing my macbook and taking a seat on the dining room floor. “Any brand suggestions?” I quickly grabbed the laptop, a huge smile plastered on my face.

“I was randomly browsing through some bridal gown websites, and I came across this brand called ‘JLM Couture’ so I went on. Let me tell you, the dresses were literally breath taking. But one certainly caught my eye that would definitely fit you El. This one.” I turned the laptop to show her the ivory Alencon lace bridal gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline and elongated bodice, horsehair belt at the natural waist, a three tiered tulle skirt with horsehair trims and a chapel train.

( - If you’re interested in finding out how it actually looks.

Their mouths dropped wide open, and I swear I saw saliva threatening to drip from Eleanor’s lips. “It- wow.” Was all Danielle managed to choke out before I slammed the laptop shut, snapping them out of their trans.

“So it’s set then? That dress?” Eleanor’s head nodded rapidly and she got up to do this adorable happy dance. Bless her.

I quickly jotted down the dress designer, brand, contact number, address, code, then wrote down a date for me to go check out the dress. “What about the bridesmaid dresses?” Eleanor asked whilst sipping slowly on her tea.

“I have an option for that too.” I chuckled, opening my laptop once again. This time, I pulled up the website for the bridesmaid dress that I had come across. Which was also from the same brand.

It was a cashmere chiffon, above the knee bridesmaid dress. It was also strapless, had a softly scooped neckline, and a soft front skirt ruffle detail. It was going to be navy in color. “You, my friend, have amazing dress taste. I would definitely wear that. No doubt.” Danielle rambled, going on and on about how nice the dress looked. I was in a giggling fit, like legit.

“Alright come on you guys! Be serious.” Eleanor chuckled, helping me write the details about the bridesmaid dresses into my organizer.

“Now, the cake.” Danielle smiled and pulled out her phone, dialing a number. “You guys know who Buddy Valastro is right?”

“HOLY GUACAMOLY NO WAY. LIKE, CAKE BOSS BUDDY VALASTRO?!” I screamed, jumping out of my seat. A grin spread across all of our features, except Dani who had a smirk on as she watched El and I jump around the room like fools.

“This is crazy awesome.” Eleanor cheered before settling back into her seat.

“Hey Buddy!... Yeah I’m great! And you?... Aw that’s great to hear. Now, I actually called for a reason this time… Oh of course! No, no listen! Haha… Yeah that’s right! How’d you hear about it?... Oh right. Anyway, she’s wondering if you’d make her wedding cake?... Really? OH MY GOSH thank you Buddy. I’ll just tell her… Yeah I’ll call you back as soon as we agree on the flavors and stuff… Yeah thanks Bud! Cya!” Then she placed the phone down slowly.

“BUDDY VALASTRO IS BAKING YOUR WEDDING CAKE!” She squealed, making us all start dancing around again. Gosh this was more exciting than I thought! “So I guess we should start planning the theme for the cake?” El and I both quickly nodded our heads and once again sat back down.

“I think…” Eleanor started, trailing off at the end.

“You think…?” I urged, leaning forward a little.

“I think… We should do a castle themed cake made out of red velvet with cream cheese.” I felt my smile grow even wider, my hands absentmindedly clapping.

“I’ll go with that.” I stated, Danielle quickly agreeing.

“Then that’s the cake settled!” Dani bubbled, taking her phone to call Buddy again. “Gosh,  you’re one lucky bride.” I chuckled, nudging Eleanor in the side.

“Sure am!” She breathed, leaning back into her chair. “Venue?”

“Shit.” I muttered.

It has been 3 hours. And finally, after 53987402984 pieces of crumpled up papers, we’ve finally started deciding on the venue for El and Lou’s reception. This would be after the whole church thing of course, which would be held in London. “I think we should do it at Louis’ house… There’s a huge backyard that we could set up for the reception.”

“You mean that huge white mansion he owns in London?” She nodded, searching my eyes for some sort of answer. “It actually wouldn’t be that bad of an idea. It over looks a lake right?” She nodded once again, a smile slowly crawling onto her lips. “Sounds good to me!” I grinned, shrugging my shoulders.

“I like the sound of that!” Dani clapped, then got up.

“What are you doing?” I asked, eyeing her as she made her way to the kitchen.

“I’m going to make dinner. How does spaghetti sound?”

“Holy shite, yes please!” Well Eleanor definitely loves her spaghetti… I just nodded along, jotting down some last-minute notes.

“El? Who are your bridesmaids?” I asked, getting my pen ready to write it down.

“You, Dani, Perrie, Selena, and Lou.” She smiled, tapping her fingers on the table. “You, of course, are my maid of honor.” She added, winking too.

“Harry, Liam, Zayn, Niall, and Justin.” She paused, hesitating for a moment. “Harry’s best man…” It came out as a mumble, almost as if she was scared it might trigger something… Which it did, but I hid it well.

“Oh ok.” Well done you idiot. That came out so blunt. “Louis’ handling his, and their tuxedos right?” Eleanor nodded slowly, then turned to see what Danielle was up to.

We sat discussing a few other things about the wedding, like the flowers, bouquets, where the bridal suite was to be at, and the bachelorette party. As for the bridal suite, she decided on the Belgravia Penthouse Suite. Hell yeah it’s fancy.

“Dinner’s ready!” Danielle called, the scent of spaghetti filling my nostrils. We both quickly scurried into the kitchen like hungry dogs, sitting ourselves around the kitchen island.

“Dayum Danielle! This smells great.” I gushed, taking the plate of spaghetti she was offering towards me.

“Aw thank you.” She cooed, passing El one as well and took her own, too.

We sat around eating and talking, just basically fangirling about the fact Eleanor was going to get married. We were going to go for fitting in a few weeks, so we were discussing shoes, hairstyles, and then we decided on the little flower girl and ring bearer.

“So guess who showed up at the doorstep yesterday night?” Eleanor frowned, folding her arms onto the table.

“Who?” Danielle questioned, her eyebrow raised.

“Liam. Jones.” She stated bluntly, her facial expression blank, making me feel like cowering back. Danielle’s face fumed as her eyebrows slowly scrunched together.

“What did he want?” She asked, directed at me of course, since I had been silent for the whole subject.

“He wanted a chance to explain…” I muttered, rolling my eyes too. Dani’s expression soon turned into a disgusted one as she, too, tapped her fingers on the table.

“You didn’t give him one though, right?” I nodded, chuckling as I did so. “Good. Because there’s no explanation for a frickin’ hickey on his neck.” She shook her head.

“It doesn’t matter now anyway.” I stated, sipping onto my tea.

“Wait, so what happened to your hand?” I choked a little on my tea before shooting her a sheepish smile.

“Er.. Aha. I was so furious I kinda just… I just punched the wall.” Her eyes went wide, then started to scan the walls until her eyes landed on the hole my hand had managed to make in the plaster walls.

“Dayum. Was he scared?” She laughed, “I’d definitely be scared outta my wits!”

“Oh he was scared alright. He even scampered out the door like a little dog.” Eleanor snickered, running her fingers through her hair with a mocking smile. Danielle sat laughing pretty hard, whilst I fought to keep a giggle down. Though it didn’t work. We were all rolling on the floor laughing our butts off.

“Oh-ahah-oh my gosh. That is just priceless.” Dani managed out through her laughs.

“Hello? Is anyone home?” Kyle’s voice rang from the front door before his figure came strolling in.

“Hey Ky.” I grinned, waving my bandaged hand. “We were just talking about the hole I made yesterday,” I winked, “btw, I think we need to patch it up some time soon.” I added, chuckling.

“Wassup y’all. Oh, really? Yeah I figured. There’s a dude coming tomorrow to fix it up. No worries.” He told us, “I’ll be in my room if you need me.” Then he disappeared down the hallways.

“Well something’s definitely gotten his mood up.” El teased, getting up to wash her cup.

“I know right! I’ve only met Kyle once, but I can tell his happiness level is a little higher than usual.” Danielle agreed, nodding her head.

“Meh. I’ll get it out of him later.” I shrugged, not really thinking too much about it. “But anyway, on a different note, how’s about we go catch a movie?” I suggested whilst getting up to put my cup into the dishwasher.

“What movie is there to watch?”

“How about that new movie… Er, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters? I think that’s what it was called.” I said, my eyes flickering from Danielle, to Eleanor, then back to Danielle.

“Sure. Sounds like fun! I’ll just go change, and be back in a flash!” Eleanor declared, then dashed off to her room.

“Maybe I’ll go change too?” I chuckled, getting up to leave too.

I quickly got to my room, changing into a pair of black jeans and a blue floral top, slipping my grey cardigan over it. I grabbed my white flats, putting them on as I made my way back to the dining room.

“Well that was fast.” Danielle chuckled, tying her curly hair into a ponytail.

“Hell yeah! I’ve been dying to go watch a movie outta this house for ages!” I cried, flopping onto the chair next to her. “Where’s El?” I asked, braiding my hair to the side.

“I’m here!” Eleanor singsonged, skipping happily into the room. “Let’s go!”

We quickly made our way to my beetle, jumping into the front seat with Dani in the passenger seat. I started up the engine the backed out of the parking lot, speeding down the lane to the mall. The girls both threw their hands up, singing along to ‘Dynamite’, which was blasting from the radio.

“Alright girls we’re here!” I cheered, turning off the radio. They both cheered along whilst we got out, and I locked the door.

“THAT WAS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!” I screamed, receiving odd looks from the people around me. Eleanor was in hysterics, whilst Danielle struggled to swallow her laugh. I cleared my throat loudly, causing Eleanor to freeze, obviously noticing the stares. Her whole face became red and she grabbed our wrists, pulling us into Starbucks.

“Well that wasn’t embarrassing at all!” Danielle jested, sarcasm lacing all her words. Eleanor snorted at Dani’s sarcasm making us both double over in laugher.

“Wha-what on earth- ahah- was that?!” I choked out between laughs, struggling to breath.

“A snort!” Eleanor stated, a matter-of-factly. “You two are such dorks! Now come on! I want my latte." Danielle and I both slowly calmed ourselves down before slowly making our way to the cashier.

“Er, one vanilla latté, venti, under the name Eleanor, one chai latté, less sugar, under the name Danielle, also venti, and a dark chocolate mocha with whipped cream, venti, under the name Eliza.” Eleanor told the barista, charming her way into a faster service like the girl she was. Danielle and I both snickered as the teenage kid behind the counter checked her out thoroughly before sending her a wink.

“We-aha- we’ll go get a table.” I giggled to her, grabbing Danielle and pulling her to a table. “Oh that was hilarious! Did you catch that wink? Oh god he must have been like what, twelve?!” I bantered, clutching my stomach for the pain I was getting. Damn if we keep this up, I’ll end up with abs at the end of the day.

“Oh gosh I know right! He may have even been eight from the sound of his high-pitched voice!” Dani blurted, holding onto the table for support.

“What’s gotten you two in such bubbly moods?” Eleanor questioned, handing us our drinks. Danielle and I shared looks before choking down our laughs.

“Oh nothing!” I said innocently, smiling a little too widely at her. Well this definitely was a fun day.
