“Everyone I’ve met is either a jerk, or just not interested. I don’t talk to many guys, so I guess that’s why.”

“Well, you seem alright with me and Xander.”

“That’s only because you both helped me. And you made the effort; I don’t really make any effort to talk to people. If you hadn’t found me in the estate agents yesterday, I don’t know where I’d be by now…I sure as heck wouldn’t know where my home is, and I’d have no friends here.”

“Come on, you know that’s not true…but I’m glad I did find you.”

     “Thank you.”

     “What for?”

“Everything. You didn’t have to help me, you didn’t have to become my friend, you didn’t have to do anything, but you did. And I don’t know how to thank you for that.”

“I know how. You spend today with me, be happy today, and forget about Xander and what he said. Have an amazing first day in your new home.”

“Okay. I can do that. Starting now.”

“Good, I like seeing you happy. It makes me happy.”

“So, we gonna do shopping today or what?”

I practically ran into Topshop, Josh had to jog just to keep up with me. Nothing can get in the way between me and shopping.

     “Ooo. That’s pretty!”

“What do you think? Does it suit me?”

“Would my bum look big in this?”

     “This matches my jeans!”

     “I. Want. Need.”

“Calm down, Amy, ok?” Josh finally interrupted.

     “I can’t…it’s….clothes.”

“You’re right, these are clothes.” He sighed, rolling his eyes. “Girls and their clothes, ey?”

I ran off to a different rack, while Josh went to browse in the men’s section. I picked out a short, pink skirt that I’d seen my favourite YouTuber wearing in one of her videos, Marzia.

I went to the changing room in the back of the shop and tried it on. It fit perfectly. I’d have to wear opaque tights underneath it though. So I asked the changing room manageress if she had any on the rack next to her; she nodded and passed me some, so I tried them on underneath the skirt.

   £34, not too expensive then.

I went to go pay for them, but as soon as Josh saw me going to the counter, he rushed over and paid for me. Boys, huh.

We walked out of the shop, me scolding him for paying for my clothes. He just shrugged his shoulders, as if it was no big deal.

“Let me buy stuff for you, it’s what boys do.”

     “No, it’s what boyfriends do.”

“Is that what you want me to be, huh?” I hadn’t really thought about Josh like that, so his question hit me by surprise.

“Dream on.” I smirked, rolling my eyes.

“Won’t have to, if I turn on my charm.” He winked at me for about the billionth time since I got here.

I just ignored his, shaking my head, and carried on walking down the high street, it wasn’t too busy today, well, I couldn’t judge from what it was normally here, but it wasn’t that busy compared to back in Bury St.Edmunds.

The next shop that we went into was Next, I found a floral, white, summer dress that I adored in there, so I rushed to the counter when Josh wasn’t looking and bought it myself. I smiled, because I’d won.

When Josh realised, he walked over to me and didn’t look happy.

“Why won’t you let me buy you stuff? I have the money…”

“Jeez! Calm down! You don’t even know me, I could be a gold digger, and about to flog the stuff you buy me on eBay, oo, girls, come to my eBay, I have the amazing Josh Hutcherson’s clothes for sale! Oooo! I’d be a millionaire by the end of the day!”

“Yeah but, I know you wouldn’t do that.”

“I’m just saying. Besides, I said before anyway, you’re not my boyfriend, you’ve only known me a day, so you don’t get to buy me anything, alright?”

“I want to, so let me. Let me get you a KFC or something?”

“But we only had a McDonalds last night!”

     “So what?”

“Soo, we shouldn’t have 2 different fast foods in less than 24 hours!”

“Well, where do you wanna go for lunch then?”

“I don’t know what places they have here.”

“Alright, KFC it is then. Besides, it’s only chicken.”

“You’re lucky my sister isn’t here, shes a vegetarian.”

     “You’re not though, right?”

“Nope! Couldn’t live without eating chicken!”

“Same, we have so much in common, right?!” He said, mocking a typical girl’s voice.

“That is sooo not what us girls sound like!”

     “It actually is.”

     “Not.”

     “Is.”

“Not, so sh and go make me a sandwich.” I mocked a typical boy’s voice by saying what I’d already been told by Xander. ‘Go make me a sandwich.’

     “We don’t sound like that!”

     “Agree to disagree?”

     “Sure thang, babygee.”

“I admit! I used to call people babygee! But back in the summer of ’09. Gosh, you’ve gotta keep up with the times, man!” It was so easy to use sarcasm when I was with Josh. I’d never found it this easy to talk to anyone in my whole life. And the fact that he’s famous! Ask me 2 months ago if I’d ever thought I’d be in this position? I’d have said no chance.

“You’re so mainstream. Or were, were!

“You saying you weren’t like that, back in your day?”

“No, can’t say I was.” He grinned.

“Lame.” I punched his arm, playfully.

“Yes you are.” He punched mine back.

We got into a mini ‘punch fight’ thing, we didn’t realise but we had a crowd around us chanting, ‘FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!’ like they did back in high school.

“Hey guys! We’re not fighting! We’re friends!” We both screamed at them, laughing. They all sighed and walked away, disappointed.

     “What just happened?” I asked.

“I have no idea, but it was something that…I’m probably not going to forget for a while, at least.”

     “Haha, me neither.”

“Shall we?” He said, holding out his elbow. I interlinked my elbow into his and we walked to KFC.

Once we got there, Josh was mobbed by some fangirl. There were only about 10 girls and their parents there, but one tried to kiss Josh, on the lips. I felt a pang of, what was it? …Jealously?! Surge through my body. I had no idea why.

After about 5 minutes of Josh signing fans books and posters and whatnot, he’d finished and we headed into KFC and ordered our chicken.

30 minutes later we were waddling out of the door, holding our stomachs.
