10. Chapter 9

(Nina's POV)

I reached for my phone but it disappeared. I looked up at Niall who was now holding it.

"Hello?" he answered. He was quite for a few minutes.

"Thanks. Bye." he said hanging up.

"Who was that?" I asked.

" Nobody. Are you okay?"

"Niall. Who the hell was that???"

"The hospital." he mumbled.

"What did they say?"

"Lucy is in critical condition. She is in a coma." he said.

I shot up from the floor and ran to get my keys. I had to see her. I bolted out the door and down the steps towards Nialls camaro.

"Nina! Wait!" he yelled.

I waited in the car as he hustled up to the passenger seat. He got in and buckled up just as I began speeding down the street.

"Slow down!" he said.

I shook my head. My foot pressed the gas again as I got on to the highway. We roared down the highway at full speed and Niall nervously tapped his foot.

When we arrived at the hospital I jumped out of the car, throwing the keys at the valet parker. I ran to the desk and was met by an old lady with thick rimmed glasses.

"Hello?" she asked not looking up.

"I need the room number to Lucy Hanes. I'm her sister." I rushed out.

"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk." the old woman said.

"What's the room number!?" I screeched. My anger rising.

"Your friend won't make it if you have an attitude like that young lady. Be wise with your words. Lucy is in very grave condition. Her fate is in your hands. Room 777." she said.

What the??? I looked at her name tag. It read Angel Hanes. Hanes? Like Lucy Hanes? And 777? That's Lucy's lucky number. 7. This is really weird.

"Nina? Who are you talking too?" Niall asked.

My head snapped up to Niall who had a quizzical look on his face.

"The old lady. She's right the-" I began.

I only found an empty desk. I sighed.

"777. 777. 777." I said. I took off down to the elevator. Floor 7. Niall was right on my heels. When we reached the elevator I jumped in an empty one and hit the button I needed. As we went up the elevator, I was shaking.

"Nina. It's alright." he said.

He looked freaked out. Concerned even. Worried about Lucy's physical health and my mental health. But when the elevator opened for floor 7, I froze. I couldn't move. I was to afraid to see her like that. Niall nudged me and I slowly slid down the hall. Step after step sounding like rocks on glass. When I reached the room I looked in and there she was. Looking peaceful. She was sleeping. Or in the coma. I couldn't tell. I walked to her and held her hand.

"Lucy. Luuuucy." I cooed. Her mouth twitched. Nothing.

"She can hear me!"

"She can hear everything." a voice from behind me said.

I slowly turned at the familiar voice.

"Are you Lucy's doctor?" I asked the old lady with the thick rimmed glasses.

"Nina? Who are you talking to?" Niall asked.

"Wait." I said to him and turned back to the old lady.

"No I am not Lucy's doctor. I am her guardian angel. Only she can see me sometimes." She said

"Then how can I?" I asked.

"You are her sister. Her other half. If she becomes injured or sickly. Close to death even. I am to guide you to save her." she said.

"So then how do I?"

"As the saying goes, you can't fix the dancer. You can only fix the song." she said before walking away.

"Nina?" Niall asked.

"Niall. Do you still have that song on your phone that I downloaded?" I asked.

"Yeah why?"

"Let me see it." I said.

He handed me the phone. I quickly scrolled through the songs before landing on the one I needed. I hit play and Coldplay's Fix You came on. I placed the phone by her ear as the song began.

Half way through the song, her fingers began to twitch.

"Lucy?" I asked quietly.

She slowly opened her eyes and blinked a few times before looking up at me. I wanted to cry. And jump for joy. And hug her. But my happiness was short lived by what she said next.

"What are you doing here?"

My heart sank.
