Lux felt a calm overcome her as she walked into the arena for sound-check, and she was certain it had something to do with Harry being at her side. They truly do hate each other, but when they're both in the presence of music, she feels like strings come out of her and tie her to him, making them bond.

She walked onto the stage with her mic in hand, in-ear monitors settled gently in her ears, allowing her to hear her own voice over all the noise. Her stomach clenched up tightly as she scanned all the empty seats that would soon be filled with people watching her.

“Ready, sweets?” Harry's voice came in through her in-ears, and she sighed in relief.

“Ready.” She said quietly into her mic, hearing her music begin to play. She went over her song a few times, listening to Harry in her ears, taking his advice without hesitation or disrespect. She saw the cameras come in, ready to film little pieces of her and Harry working together to show the audience how well they get on. Harry walked onto stage, adjusting the gray wool beanie he had on, his black curls poking out. Lux watched him stride straight to her, and her heart felt like.. it felt like it fluttered.

Her eyebrows pulled together as she shook her head, thinking she must be crazy.

“Quick, compliment me.” Harry said as he approached, speaking in a whisper.

“What? Ew, no.” Lux said, wrinkling her nose up in disgust.

He sighed, “Just swallow your pride and do it, and I'll compliment you. That way, we can think about those compliments in front of the cameras and hopefully come off as friends, or something close enough to it.”

He was right, it would help her think of Harry as a friend if he complimented her for once.

“Um...” She paused, “I like your nose.”

His eyebrows shot up and he reached up to touch his nose. “What? Nobody likes my nose. Quit being snarky!”

“What's wrong with liking your nose? Jesus, you don't take compliments very well.” Lux snorted, folding her arms across her chest. “I like your forehead, too.”

“WHAT?!” Harry screeched, “What is wrong with you?? These are terrible compliments!”

Lux noticed him touching his nose and then moving up to touch his forehead underneath his curls, his face pensive and confused. She wondered what the big deal was, so his nose was wide and his forehead was big under all those curls. She didn't care, she liked it.

“I like them.” Lux said softly, “I like the things about you that aren't perfect. What's so bad about that?”

“I don't like them.” He said, but his voice wasn't harsh or mean, just confused and almost.. insecure.

“Well, that's... rubbish.” She said, throwing her hands up. “Okay, I'll give you the same compliment everyone else gives you, how about that? Harry, I love your eyes, dimples and curls.”

He blinked, realizing that those were all the compliments he got, he just never realized. He's not sure anyone's ever come up to him and said, “I like your nose.” the way that Lux did.

“Thank you.” He whispered, and she rolled her eyes, assuming he meant thank you for the new compliments, but he was actually thanking her for complimenting two of the things that made him feel insecure. He wouldn't clarify that for her though.

“I love your bum.” Harry's voice and face were serious, and Lux laughed.

“Really?” She turned to look at it in her sweats, not seeing the appeal. “Well, thanks.”

“And I like that your eyebrows are dark and your hair is light.” He added, nodding slowly.

Lux felt a smile tug on her lips at his awkward stance, and she knew the cameras were probably already recording from a distance, so when she got the urge to do something unexpected, she did it. She stepped up to him and threw her arms around his middle, pressing her palms flat to his shoulder blades.

He grunted lightly, not hugging her back right off, but soon he gently wrapped one arm around her shoulders, tugging her in closer. He kept his other hand shoved in his pocket, and pressed his chin to the top of her head as they hugged for a good moment. Lux was reluctant to let go because she knew that was probably the closest she'd ever get to Harry, but she didn't want to hug him too long and start rumors of them dating. That's the last rumor she wants going around.

“Now laugh like I said something really funny.” Harry whispered to her before pulling back from the hug. Lux retreated, throwing her head back and laughing loudly. He watched her as she moved, her head tilted back slightly, blond hair streaming down to the middle of her back, her hand going up to clap over her mouth as she laughed. He found himself smiling as she laughed, because it sounds so genuine and real. Wait a second..

“Are you laughing for real?” He asked, scrunching his eyebrows.

“Yes!” She continued to laugh, “The idea of you saying something funny..HAHAHAHA!”

He rolled his eyes but felt a smirk tug at his mouth, and he tried to choke back the chuckle that was trying to escape. He failed and started to laugh too, reaching out and tugging on a piece of her hair.

“Let's get back to work. And keep smiling.” He reminded, pointing to his mouth as he forced a big bright smile. Lux started to laugh again, this time at how crazy he looked with that smile on his face.

“I don't think that will be a problem.” She said softly, her eyes glittering.

Harry's eyes looked a little too shiny for someone who hated her guts, and the thought of his eyes gleaming when he looked at her made her heart flutter again.

It really needs to stop doing that.
