Maturity is a Choice

{Sequel to Age Is Just A Number}

It's been two and a half years since Ski became One Direction's photographer and Harry's new girlfriend. She's now seventeen, turning eighteen and she can now tell the press her and Harry are dating once eighteen. Also, the boys are going on tour in America and the boys and Ski are very excited but what happens when Ski gets jealous about all the girls Harry keeps hanging with, and Niall starts drinking to hide his feelings, and when Zayn finds a girlfriend that only wants his fame and money? Why don't you read to find out?

8. Save A Life

"And here's the band you've all been waiting for! One Direction!"

I watched as one by one, the boys ran out. I snapped a picture of Niall doing his signature jump.

"Welcome Washington!" Liam's voice boomed over the arena. Thousands of screaming girls replyed with loud screams.

The boys started off with the first hit single on their new album, Take Me Home. Live While We're Young. I nonchalantly sang along while snapping more pictures.

The rest of the concert went by pretty fast. It was interesting at some parts. Two girls ran onto stage and tackled Niall in a hug. He freaked out and I was able to get a shot of his priceless face. Security came and ripped the two girls off of him and took them outside. It was hilarious.

The boys ran backstage drenched in sweat. Instead of high-fiving like they usually do after a concert they started changing.

"Wait, why are you guys changing?" I asked.

"The fans want more." Niall said adding a wink.

They ran back on stage and were greeted by more screaming girls.

"We figured you guys wanted more of us." Niall says into the microphone. Another chorus of screams went around the stadium.

"Our last song is something special to us all. Here's Little Things." Zayn announced.

I looked around the stadium and examined the screaming faces of these dedicated girls. They were all so beautiful. I held my camera up to my eye and snapped a picture of the front row. I looked over at the picture. Perfect. Except for one thing. This one girl in the very front stood out.

She had dark brown hair that was amazingly straight that fell down past her breasts. She was wearing this beautiful beige dress with a jean jacket over it. She looked so beautiful. Except for the tears down her face.

She was crying, hard. She looked like she was trying to hide it but she just couldn't. Without thinking I ran onto stage. The song was already into a few notes when I ran out but stopped when I stood front center. Everyone's came to me and I felt my stomach churn.

"Ski, what are you doing?" Harry asked through a smile.

I pointed at his microphone and he held it out to me. I hesitated before grabbing it and bringing it up to my mouth.

"Um. . . Hi guys." I did a small wave toward the audience. "As most of you know, I've been One Direction's photographer for awhile now and let me tell you, it is awesome!" A few laughters erupted bringing a smile to my face. At least they weren't dead.

I look over at the boys and they all looked at me with confusion on their faces. I gave them a reassuring smile before continuing with my little speech.

"So just a few moments ago I took a picture of this front row," I pointed at the front row and sent them a smile. My gaze fell upon the girl in the photo and I locked my eyes on her.

"And this girl caught my eye. she was absolutely stunning, just like all of you tonight, but the thing is she was crying."

The girl I continued to look at now held my gaze. I couldn't hear her but I could make out the sniffing from her gestures.

"Now, I don't like seeing anyone cry because it just hurts me to see someone sad," I make my way toward the front row and the girls start going crazy except for that one girl.

"What's your name and how old are you sweetheart?" I held the microphone out to her. She doesn't speak at first. I think she was overwhelmed that someone noticed her crying.

"Lillie and I'm fifteen," she finally said. Her voice cracked at the end showing everybody that she cried recently. She looked past me and I followed her gaze. On the big screen was me and her. Her eyes were red and puffy and she quickly tried to hide her face.

"Wow what a baby!" someone yelled from the crowd.

"Hey!" I looked out in the audience. I didn't know where this mysterious voice came from so I just looked all around.

"You have no right to judge her! If you were crying right now and someone called you a baby, I'm pretty sure you would feel horrible. Leave this beautiful girl alone."

I squat down to her level and sent her a smile. I held out my hand and she hesitated before grabbing it. I pulled her up to the stage and toward the boys.

"Boys, as you may know this is Lillie." All boys said hello and gave her a smile. Liam pulled her into a hug. "How ya doing Lillie?"

She smiled and choked out a 'fine'.

"Now this is what's going to happen. The boys are going to sing Little Things to this wonderful girl and you all are going to sing along. Sounds like fun?"

I honestly thought I was going to get booed off stage but to my surprise, the arena uproared in screams and clapping. I handed Harry his mircrophone back and he smiled. I started exiting off the stage when I remembered something.

"Oh wait!" I yelled before running back to the stage. I took Harry's mic again and went center stage once more.

"Say Cheese!"

I held up my camera as I watched everyone smile and yell 'cheese'.

"Perfect! Love you guys!" I threw the microphone back at Harry who caught it nonchalantly. I ran off stage smiling. I turned back around preparing my camera for a bucket load of photos. A man in all back rushed past me carrying a black stool. He placed it on stage before running back.

I watched Lillie slowly make her way and sat down.

Little Things start playing and the boys start singing. A few people in the front row take out their cameras and start swaying back and forth, as if their phones were candles. Sooner or later, the whole arena was lit up by iphones.

"I know you never loved the crinkle by your eyes, when you smile you never loved your stomach or your thighs. . ." Liam sings. The song continues to play as everybody enjoys this memorable moment.

I could feel a few tears tug at the corner of my eyes as Isee Lillie buries her face in her hands and I could hear her crying. By now it's Harry's solo.

He comes and squats next to her. He gently pulls her hands away from her eyes and wipes her tears away.

"I know you never loved the sound of your voice on tape,
you never want to know how much you weigh,
you still have to squeeze into your jeans but you're perfect to me.
I won't let these little things slip out of my mouth but if its true,
its you, its you they add up to, and I'm in love with you,
and all these little things."

At this point, I'm literally balling. I snap at least five photos of that moment. I look out onto the crowd and inhale deeply. From my point of view I see thousands of girls crying and holding onto one another. I see one girl a few rows back from the first run over to another row and hug a crying girl. Such a beautiful sight.

"And I've just let these little things slip out of my mouth,
cause it's you, oh it's you, it's you they add up too,
and I'm in love with you."

The boys join in the next verses and surround Lillie. She was still crying but Harry had his arm around her, pulling her close. At the end of the very last verse, they all came and hugged Lillie together in a big group hug.

Niall walked her over to her seat and helped her off the stage. He gave her a quick peck on the cheek before exiting the stage with the rest of the boys.

The boys slowly walked backstage and I ran over to them, tackling them in a hug. I was still teary-eyed and my sniffles was still audible.

"Ski, why are you crying babe?" Liam asked with a worried expression.

"You guys are probably the most down-to-earth, sweetest, best guys I have ever known." I said between sniffles.

"Group hug!" Niall yelled. We all yelled while shuffled close together. I got in between Liam and Zayn. Harry was right across from me, smiling. I smiled back.

"Huh?" I broke our little group hug to see Paul holding a camera of his own.

"You know, I need some memories of my own." he said holding up the camera and snapping another picture.

"Well goodnight guys!" I yelled from my little bunkbed on the tour bus.

"Wait, Ski! Come here quick!" Zayn yelled.

I yanked off my warm sheets and hopped off my top bunk. All the boys were in the mini living room surrounding the tv.

"What's up?" I asked crossing my arms over my chest. This bus was freezing!

"Look!" Niall said pointing at the tv. They were watching E News.

"Now here's something everyone is talking about right about now. As you all know the British boy band, One Direction, recently hired a new photographer a few years back named Ski Motto. We interviewed some fans about her and they honestly had no idea who she was. But after last night, that's all these directioners are talking about!"

Then a video started to play. It was the concert from last night with Lillie and the boys singing Little Things. The person recording then turned the camera toward her. She was crying and her eyes were red and puffy. "Best concert ever! I love you Ski!"

The video ended and the woman reporter came back up.

"Earlier this morning I got to have a talk with the girl on stage, Lillie Clearwater."

The tv screen then went to another video of the reporter lady and. . . Lillie!

"So tell me Lillie, how did you like the concert last night? Did it feel good knowing the boys were singing to you?" the reporter asked.

"Yes, it was absolutely phenomonel! And when Ski made the boys sing to me, it was. . . I can't even explain it!" Lillie replyed with a small laugh.

"Speaking of Ski, are you a big fan?"

"Yes, totally! One hundred percent yes! She's my role model now." Lillie exclaimed.

A felt a small smile creep onto my face. I have a fan. I'm a role model to someone. Probably many others who were at the concert last night.

"So, let's get deep into things. Why exactly were you crying last night?"

At first Lillie didn't respond. She put her head down and stared at the hands in her lap. She opened her mouth to speak but then shut it.

"Lillie? Was it too personal of a question? Should I move on and forget the subject?" the reporter kindly asked.

"No," Lillie looked up, "I was crying because I've been bullied recently in my life. I've been called ugly, fat, hideous, and many other nasty words. When the boys came back onto the stage and announced Little Things thats when I started to cry. The day that song came out I was bullied by people at my school and that song saved me from taking my life. . . and the day of the concert I was once again bullied and I promised myself I was going to commit after the concert because I felt like nobody would even care. . ."

There was a long pause. Lillie had a fews tears fall from her eyes. The camera shifted from Lillie to the reporter who was also crying a bit. I heard a few sniffles but it wasn't from the tv, it was from the boys. All five boys were crying and staring at the tv waiting for more. I heard myself sniffle right after. I put my hand to my cheek to find out I was crying.

"But when Ski came running on stage," Lillie began again. I snapped my head up paying attention to the tv, " and started talking about how beautiful we all are and then started walking toward me I felt. . . loved for once. Especially when she called me beautiful. Ski, herself is gorgeous, and when she tells ME that I'm beautiful, I actually believed her. Then of course the boys sang Little Things which really touched my heart. Also when Harry sang his solo to me, I decided not to commit because of the boys and mostly because of Ski." Lillie turns and faces the camera.

"Thank you Ski. You saved my life." I felt as if she was really talking to me through the camera, through the television. "I love you."

The screen disappeared and went back to the reporter who ended the 'Ski subject' and moved on to the next subject which was about American Idol. The screen then went black and the tv clicked off.

"Ski, you're a hero." Liam says as he stands up and pulls me into a hug. I bury my face into the neck of his shirt and hug he back. I felt another pair of strong arms from behind me. I look up to see Harry smiling wide with big red puffy eyes. Niall comes, then Louis and Zayn. We all stood there, hugging each other.

"I love you guys." I said with a small laugh.

"We love you too Ski." they all said in unison.

Today, I saved a life.

Author's Note: Hey guys, I wrote this chapter because I really can't stand the thought of bullying. I don't know why people do it, it just brings people to tears and worse. I've been bullied when I was younger but not so much anymore. People would always give me the same advice. "Just walk away" or "Don't listen to them" and "Don't let them get to you. Don't show them that they won." All those advices are very true but most people don't understand how hard it is for a victim to do that. We try to walk away but they seem to always come back. I'm going to end this authors note but I just want to let all of you who are reading this, that I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! I may not know you but goodness do I love you :) Also, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS, WONDERFUL, EVEN SEXY ;)   (little joke there. . haha, no? Okay. . .) Don't think of taking your life because you are much more than that. You are very important to everyone even if they don't show it. Turn your problems into a story that maybe one day can help save someone else's life. <3
