2. First Day Jitters

After Niall and I had realised I had broken his best friend's heart, things got a little awkward. Niall kept muttering things, and it felt like he was mad at me. How was I supposed to have expected a relationship to work from another country?

I mostly avoided everyone but Louis for the rest of the day, until his car followed mine home and I realised Louis was my neighbor. We hung out for a while before I decided I needed a break and went home, falling asleep instantly after hanging all of my clothes in my closet, arranging my furniture, and making my bed.

"Wakey, wakey! First day of school! Happy Friday!" Mum cooed as she lightly shook me awake. I rolled out of bed and hopped through the shower, blow drying my hair and applying makeup before I rushed down the stairs, giving Mum, Dad, and Tyler kisses on my way out the door.

"Daisy!" Harry said, matching my pace as I crossed the parking lot.

"Harry, please. I don't have time for this. I've met boys like you, and I'm not wasting my time." I said, refusing to look at him as I stepped onto the sidewalk. Harry yawned and stretched.

"I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about." Harry said. Suddenly, and arm wrapped around my shoulder.

"Piss off, Styles." An irish accent spat, pulling me off. I sighed.

"Thanks, Nia- Jesus, not another. Hands off, Siva." I said, rolling my eyes and pushing his arm off my shoulder. This school was crawling with vermin.

"Cool down, princess. I just saved you from that one. You should be thanking me." Siva said. I rolled my eyes again.

"Not in the mood for you, either." I snapped. Another arm wrapped around my shoulder and pulled me away from Siva.

"I swear!" I shouted, looking around. I let out a sigh of relief when I saw it actually was Niall this time. He chuckled and dropped his arm.

"Saved you from that one, didn't I?" Niall said. I rolled my shoulders back.

"That... was disgusting." I said. Niall laughed and held the door open for me as we plopped down in the back of the class room. People clapped as Niall walked by, and he ducked his head and blushed. "Why are they clapping?" I asked. Niall shrugged.

"Uh, I got Captain. Of the football team." He said. I dropped my jaw.

"Woah! Congrats!" I said. Niall smiled and shrugged, but I knew he was secretly exstatic.

"The man himself! I bow down!" Liam called, walking in and dropping his bag in the seat next to Niall's. He nodded at me before slapping Niall on the back. Niall laughed and they started talking about who was on second string this year and how pissed Siva and 'Jay' were about Niall getting captain. "As if that cocroach would get captain." Liam said, talking about Siva, as he sat down in the row in front of us.

"Let's get class started!" The teacher said. Siva kept shooting me looks like he was undressing me with his eyes, which didn't go unnoticed by Niall.

"Niall, can you come help disect the sentence?" The teacher asked as Niall got up. As he passed Siva, Niall slapped him on the back of the head. Liam and I high-fived and held in a laugh while Siva massaged the back of his head. At the end of class I trecked to Chemistry alone, though that didn't last long. I made the poor decision of sitting by Harry, but he was the only person I knew, so it was hard not to. I pretended to be interested in what we were talking about until the bell rang. As soon as class was over I bolted out the door.

"Daisy!" Eleanor said brightly as I walked up to her in the hall. She smiled fakely at Harry, who was waiting for me. I widened my eyes at her and she giggled. "I'll, uh, see you at lunch." She said, waving as I walked off.

"Slow down!" Harry whined, catching up to me as I navigated the hall. "Come on, at least give me a chance. I know Niall's trying to pin you against me, but he doesn't know me and he never will." Harry said. I rolled my eyes and sighed.

"No, Harry. I'm making this decision on my own to stay away from you. I know your type. Cute, charming, seems like a badboy but begs me to think differently. In reality, you're exactly what everyone says you are. I'm not making another mistake." I said. Harry looked a little wounded, but then smirked.

"I'll change your mind." He said, twirling a piece of my hair between his fingers. I batted his hand away and walked to class.

"Daisy!" Louis said as I walked over. He pulled me in for a one armed hug and I hugged him carefully.

"Hey, Louis." I said. Jade, Perrie, Zayn, and Niall were already there, and they said hello as Harry walked into the room behind me.

"Was he... Harryish in Chemistry?" Perrie asked as Harry took his seat and shot me a look. I giggled and nodded.

"More than yesterday. I thought it couldn't get any worse than that." I sighed. Perrie and Jade giggled.

"See you at lunch?" Perrie asked, slipping into the seat next to me. Jade sat diagonal from me and Zayn sat on the other side of Perrie.

"Definitely." I nodded. Louis sat behind me and next to Harry, while Niall sat in front of me. I kicked his chair over and over throughout the class, waiting for him to react. When the bell finally rang, Niall got out of his seat slowly, pulling his bag over his shoulder. He waited for me while I was collecting my things off of my desk. I looked up as Niall leaned over my desk.

"Gona take more than that to get to me, Sweetheart." He breathed in my ear, and then stepped back, smiling as he matched Zayn's pace and headed to lunch.

"What was that all about?" Jade asked, leaning against the wall and walking with me when I passed.

"I have... no idea." I said. What just happened? Was his new status getting to his head? Whatever it was... I kind of liked it.

"How was school?" Mum called as I entered through the garage.

"Good. Louis' over!" I called, leading Louis into the kitchen where my mum was preparing dinner.

"Louis! You aren't the boy who lives across the street, are you?" She asked, wiping her hands on her apron and shaking Louis' hand. Louis chuckled and nodded.

"Guilty." He said.

"Markus, Daisy has the neighbor boy over! He's a looker, too." Mum shouted into the den.

"Yes, a looker with a girlfriend that I will never be any competition for, not that I want to be." I said. Louis laughed and shrugged it off.

"My sisters are like this, too." He said. I laughed and dragged him into the living room before Dad came in from the den and humiliated me further.

"So Jade told Perrie who told El who told me-" Louis said as he flicked through the channels.

"Is this going anywhere?" I asked, grabbing the remote from him and changing it to Neighbours.

"She said Niall was being very seductive after History." Louis said, turning to face me with his eyebrows raised. I laughed to hide my blush and shook my head.

"We were just messing around." I lied through my teeth. Louis' eyebrows slid higher and higher on his forehead to the point where I wasn't sure how they were still a part of his face.

"Really? Are you... sure?" Louis asked. I sighed dramatically.

"No. I have no clue what happened. I was kicking his chair and then after class he got all serious and up in my grill and was like, 'you're gona hafta try harder than that,' or something, and he threw sweetheart in there somewhere." I said. Louis chuckled.

"I knew it! I knew someone other than Harry was going to take a liking to you! Harry takes a liking to everyone, so I wasn't surprised by that. But I knew someone else was gona make a mooooovvveeee." Louis danced around on the couch. I hit him with the remote.

"Well, it looks like that Siva douche is attached too." I said. Louis' face fell.

"I don't care if he gets a fucking modeling job, you are not to mess around with that boy." Louis said like he was my father or something.

"Yes, Dad." I said, making a face. Louis laughed and snatched the remote from my hand.

"What is this shit?!" He shouted, clicking through the channels.
