One Of The Originals (Vampire Diaries- FanFic)

First and for most I would like to say that all rights go to L.J Smith for writing such an amazing book and Julie Plec and the producers of the CW show The Vampire Diaries. I do not own anything from the show or book. Some characters will be the same as the show but I will not take credit for them. Thank you! x
This is the story about a vampire named Jessica. She's not just any old vampire, she's an original. Her brother, Niklaus (Klaus for short), daggered her along with the rest of his family. One day, he needs help. So he goes to undagger Jessica. But of course, if your brother kills you I'm sure you would be very ticked off. So will Jessica ever be able to forgive Klaus and help him or will she turn her back on him? Hmmm. Intense. Read to find out what happens.

13. Don't Give Up On Me

I made my way to the boarding house to see Damon. I just had to see him one last time before I did what I needed to do. I might not make it out alive but it'll be worth it to save Damon's.

I found Damon still laying in the cell. He looked like he was in so much pain. Sweat was beating off of his forehead and by the way he was muttering words, I could tell the hallucinations have started. He might not be able to recognize me but at least I talk to him one last time.

"I'm sure Stefan will be of company enough..." Damon mumbled to himself. I narrowed my eyes at him through the cell door window. He must be having a dream about his past. "Katherine..."

Yeah, he was having a dream about Katherine. Oh that's just lovely. I rolled my eyes.

"Damon?" I called lightly.

"Katherine?!" He replied back looking my way. His eyes were so glossy and full of hurting and pain. It was not a pretty sight. He looked like he must thought everything was a dream to him. He wasn't focused and barely met my gase.

"No. No, Damon, it's me. It's Jess." I said to him. I could see him smile slightly even if he didn't know what was going on.

"Jessica.." He said quietly.

"Yes, it's me." I paused and when he didn't answer I talked again. "I love you, Damon. I'll make everything better, I promise."

"You will?" He asked, voice breaking slightly.

"I will. You'll see."

I watched as Damon drifted off into sleep. He was more peaceful that way. He didn't look like he was in so much. I slowly and quietly opened the door to his cell and took small steps over to his resting body. His chest moved up and down as he took short breaths in his sleep.

I reached down and wiped some of the sweat droplets off his face. My eyes flickered down to his lips and I slowly leaned in and pecked them. There, that'll do.

Alaric showed up at the door of the cell. He looked at my sympathetically before leading me out of the cell and closing the door behind me.

"Are you okay?" He asked me.

"I will be."

I was walking through town trying to find Elena and for some reason I couldn't find her. I've practically been everywhere searching high and low for her.

I was walking past the police station just minding my own business when all of the sudden a chair was thrown out of the office window. The glass shattered everywhere. I covered myself and by the time the glass stopped flying, Elena was climbing out of the window.

"What are you doing?!" I yelled at her. "I've been looking for you everywhere!"

"Sheriff Forbes had me locked in her office!" She said running a hand through her hair.

She looked at me and her eyes were full of sympathy. At that moment I knew it was about Damon. Everybody has been looking at me that way since they found out about the bite. I wish they would just stop it!

"What is it Elena?" I snapped at her not really meaning to.

"They found out about them, Jess." She paused. "They found out about you and now they are after Damon."

"How'd he get out of the cell?" I asked.

"When they went to take him, he became delusional and insane and he escaped. I don't know where he is now." She looked to the ground and I knew she was worried.

I was worried too. The bite was becoming worse. He was going to die soon. As much as it pained me to think about it, I knew I was right. I also knew that the only way of saving him could possibly get me killed.

It was worth it. Dying for the one I love. But I knew the only way I would get the cure in time is if I leave now.

"Elena.." I said as she raised her face to meet mine. "I want you to find Damon and take him home. Watch over him and take care of him."

"Why can't you do that? You can probably stop the cops better than I can."

"I need to do things. Please, take care of him for me." I pleaded and she nodded before saying "I will."

I was walking through the apartment complex parking lot up to where Klaus was staying. He was still using Alaric's apartment and I just pray to God that he is still here.

As I was walking, I noticed something and stopped. It was Stefan. He must have come here for the same reason I did.

He was just about to walk through the front door when I used my vamp speed to appear in front of him.

"Are you crazy?!" I asked barely above a whisper since I didn't know if Klaus was up there or not.

"He's my brother, Jess." He said and tried to walk past me but I stopped him. He rolled his eyes.

"Which is why he needs you! Seeing Klaus will instantly get you killed. I'm pretty sure we've gone over this before! Damon doesn't need me, Stefan. He needs you and Elena and everyone else. I'm just someone who happened to walk into his life at the wrong time. It won't matter if he never sees me again, he'll get over me in a week anyway."

I gave my little speech to Stefan and I couldn't help but feel pained at my own words. His family means a lot more to him than I ever will and he will eventually get over me. That's just how it goes. It's how it always goes.

"Jess, he loves you. I can see it in his eyes." He paused for a moment. "I want you to let me do this for my brother and I want you to go back and take care of him."

"If we keep arguing like this he wont even around for anyone to 'take care of him' because he'll already be dead! Now go home, Stefan." He didn't budge. Man was he stubborn! "I wish it didn't have to come to this, Stefan..."

I trailed off before using my vamp speed to bring my hands to his head and snap his neck like a twig. Evil, I know. But it was my only way of keeping him safe.

I started to drag his body into the bushes so it wouldn't look to weird for a dead body to be lying on the ground. "Sorry, Stefan but I'm not letting two brothers die tonight." I said before tossing his body away. I knew he would wake up soon anyway.

"I won't even let one." I said to no one and started running up the stairs to Alaric's apartment.

When I finally reached his apartment, I stopped to listen to see if I could hear anybody moving. It sounded like there was only one person in there. Katherine, I'm assuming and secretly hoping that it's only here for right now.

I turned the door handle and found to my surprise it was already unlocked. "Well this is easy." I mumbled to myself before walking in the apartment. I'm so glad I came here with Alaric one time to pick something up and that he invited me in. I probably would have been screwed if he didn't.

"Jess?" I heard a female voice say behind me. I turned and found myself looking at Katherine. Just as I expected.

"Katherine.." I smirked. "Long time no see."

She sighed. "It's nice to know you still call me Katherine and not Katerina like your siblings."

"Well, when your on the run for someone for a very long time you get used to calling each other by there fake names."

"Ah, those were the good times." She smirked.

I shook my head. "No, they weren't."

"Aww, are you still angry at me?"

"That's an understatement..." I growled to her.

You see, I have my own reasons for hating Katherine. She screwed me over. After her little escape from Klaus in 1492, she was turned into a vampire and ran. I caught up with her in the early 1500's. We traveled the world together for a very long time, running from Klaus. Till one day, she just left me. I searched for her until 1864 when I finally had a lead on her. I heard she was in the little town of Mystic Falls so I went looking. Only to be completely fooled and it cost me a dagger in my back. I didn't know she planned to fake her death until I met the Salvatore brothers in this century but I have not liked her ever since.

"Oh come on, Jess. Get with the picture. If we still traveled together you would have just lead me right back to Klaus and you know it." She snarled.

"I wouldn't have though!" I snapped. "You were the only person I had left. The only person that I trusted. But I guess I was wrong and what'd that cost me? It cost me a dagger in my back."

"Better you die than I." She shrugged and smirked.

I was very angry now and you know how I am when I get angry. It's not pretty.

I lunged at her with my fangs showing and my face changed and had her pinned against the wall. She looked surprised at me actions and it left her scared.

"Now I think you're forgetting that I can't be killed. I also think you forgot that I'm many years stronger than you. You are no match against me. But you, on the other hand, can be killed and what is there to stop me from breaking the leg of the wooden chair over there and driving the state right through your heart." I threatened and she trembled beneath my grasp.

"Please, don't." She begged.

I smirked. "Too late."

I used my vamp speed to run and break one of the legs of the chairs to make a pointy stake. I ran back to her and was about to drive the stake through her heart when a voice from the door stopped me.

"Back so soon, little sister?"

I turned around to face Klaus. "Always gotta ruin the fun." I said and he smirked.

"If you came back begging for forgiveness, I don't have time for it right now." He said walking towards the kitchen with Elijah following behind him. Elijah wouldn't meet my gaze. He knows what he did was wrong.

"I didn't come for forgiveness, I came to talk." I said taking my eyes away from Elijah and back to Klaus.

"I still don't have time for it right now." He sneered. "I have brother business to take care of." I watched as he picked something up from the counter. It almost looked like a...

"Elijah no!" I screamed as Klaus turned around and daggered him right in the heart. My mouth dropped as I watched Elijah turn gray and fall to the ground.

"I promised you I would reunite you with our family." He said to Elijah's dead body. "Consider yourself reunited."

He turned towards me and smirked. "What was that for!?" I yelled to him.

"Just keeping a promise." He shrugged. "Now what is it you want to talk about?"

I was almost to angry to answer him but I was running out of time. I needed him and I needed him now.

I took a deep breath and began to speak. "I need the cure for a werewolf bite."

He chuckled. "Ah, how is your little boyfriend doing? I'm sure the hallucinations have already started am I right?"

"You knew about that?"

"Oh yes." He smiled as if remembering a hilarious memory. "He came begging to me to take Jenna's place at the sacrifice. I considered it but his blood was impure with the werewolf poison."

"He tried to sacrifice himself?" I asked and he nodded.

I sighed and it was quiet for a moment. Katherine was staying low and sitting on the couch on the other side of the room. She probably knew with two originals in the room, she wouldn't stand a chance.

"Will you please give me the cure to save him?" I begged. "I will do anything."

"Anything?" He asked and I nodded. "Okay then."

I watched as he walked to the other side of the kitchen. He looked like he was thinking of something. Possibly a way to punish me for betraying him. I'll admit, I am a little worried at what might happen.

"An apology." He finally said breaking the awkward silence between us. I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

"An apology?" I said not sure if I heard right.

"Yes. An apology for the part you played in trying to kill me. After all, I am your brother." He smiled showing off his dimples and I questioned for a moment whether or not this was all a joke. He didn't say anything so I had to ask.

"An apology? That's all I gotta give you and you'll heal Damon?" I asked.

"Yes." He said before holding up a small vile and biting into his wrist. I watched as the blood dripped into the container, filling it all the way to the top. "The cure will be Damon's, all you gotta do is apologize. That's the deal."

"Okay.." I took a deep breath. "I'm sorry for trying to kill you. I was angry at you  for daggering me and ripping apart our family. I was angry at you for killing mother and having me lie about it. Everything I did was out of anger and I'm sorry."

I apologized and smiled at me. I smiled back as he turned and walked over to Katherine. What was he doing?

"I want you to give this cure over to Damon Salvatore and come right back." He said beginning to compel here. Even though I knew it wouldn't work.

"No!" I yelled.

"You're letting me go?" Katherine asked, pretending to be fazed.

"Yes." He said and she took the cure and ran out the door. I just stood there with my mouth wide open in shock.

"She's never going to take it to him!" I shouted towards Klaus.

"Why? Because she's on vervain?" He asked. "I'm over a 1000 years old. It's gonna be hard to fool me."

He knew. He knew she was on vervain this whole time. Ugh! I knew that plan wasn't going to work out. That didn't matter now, the only thing I have to be worried about now is whether or not she will take Damon the cure. I also gotta be worried about what Klaus has planned next for me.

<3rd person POV>

Elena was sitting next to Damon as he laid on his bed. She was patting him on the head with a damp piece of cloth. He was dying and he knew it too. They both knew it. Elena was worried about what would happen to Jess if Damon died. She'd probably go nuts. Let alone Stefan. She was especially worried for him .

"It's not okay. It's not okay." Damon repeatably told Elena as she whispered reassuring words to him. "All those years I blamed Stefan. No one forced me to love her. It was my own choice... You showed me that. Jess too." He said weakly.

Elena shushed him gently.

"I've made a lot of choices that gotten me here. I deserve this. I deserve to die." Damon said upon himself. He truly believed he deserved to die.

"No you don't." Elena told him.

He sighed. "I do Elena, okay. 'Cause if I'd chosen differently, I wouldn't have met you. I've done so many things to hurt you. I'm so sorry." Elena tried to shush him again but he didn't listen. "And Jess. I wouldn't have met her either. I finally told her that I loved her and now I have to leave her. It isn't fair on her."

"It's okay, Damon." Elena told him softly. "She forgives you, and I do too."

"I love her, Elena." Damon said becoming more weaker. He knew he was coming closer and closer to death. "I love Jess more than anything... will you please tell her that next time you see her?"

Elena cried. "I will." She said softly.

"If only you guys could have met me in 1864. Maybe things would have turned out differently." Damon let out a hard and shaky breath. "You two would have like me more."

"We like the way you are now." Elena told him softly with a tear rolling down her cheek. She leaned down and panted a gentle kiss on his cheek.

"Thank you.." He whispered. "For staying with me."

"You're welcome." She told him.

"It's me who you should be thanking." A voice said from the door. Elena turned to face the door as Damon weakly looked in the direction. Katherine was there. She began to walk towards Damon and Elena. "I mean, I'm the one who brought the cure."

Elena got off the bed, giving Katherine room to give Damon the cure.

"I thought you were dead." Katherine stated with a confused look on her face.

Elena nodded. "I was."

"You got free." Damon stated. Katherine gave him the vile full of Klaus's blood and nodded. "And you still came here?"

"Yep, I figured I owed  you one. But Jess, on the other hand. Not as lucky as I am." She stated.

"Where's Stefan?" Elena asked.

"Where's Jess?" Damon said right after her.

"Elena?" A voice said from the door. Elena turned to see Stefan standing there. She ran to him and gave him a hug. She was happy knowing he was safe but another thing bothered her. Where was Jess?

"Where's Jess?" She asked Stefan.

"Are you sure you care?" Katherine teased her with a smirk.

"Where is she?" She argued back.

"She's paying for this-" Katherine said holding up the empty bottle that had the cure in it. "-Klaus just asked her for an apology but I have a feeling he has something more planned for her. After all, she did try to kill him. Anyway, I wouldn't be expecting her any time soon."

"What do you mean she's paying for that?" Damon said while slowly regaining his strength back.

"I mean, Klaus is probably going to make her pay for everything she betrayed on. Which means he's gonna make her give everything up- including you." Katherine said to Damon. "It's a good thing you have Elena here to keep you company." Damon glared at her.

"Goodbye Elena." Katherine said turning to face her doppelganger. Oh- and it's okay to love them both. I did." She said with a wink. "Besides..I'm sure Jess wouldn't mind to much. She's not here anyway."

With that Katherine left and left the three of them to standing looking frantically at each other.

<Jessica's POV>

"Okay..Thanks Elena." I said into my phone and hung it up before turning back to Klaus. He held is hand out to me and I placed my phone into his hand. "Katherine got the cure to him. He's fine. Thank you."

Klaus nodded towards her before turning around grabbing something off the counter.

"What more do you want from me? I gave you an apology. That was the deal." I said to him as he still had his back turned. He froze where he stood and let out a dry laugh.

"You betrayed me and you think I'm just going to let you go?" He asked. I didn't respond. Truth is, I was scared. He turned back around and used his vamp speed to run over to me.

I felt a sudden pain in my chest. I looked down to see a dagger and it was sticking right in my heart. I could feel the life being drained out of me. I looked back at Klaus with pleading eyes. I didn't want to be dead again.

I slowly began to fall to the ground. I did everything I could to try and fight it but it wasn't working. My skin was becoming gray and veiny. This wasn't how it was supposed to go.

"Apology accepted, little sister." I heard Klaus say and then nothing.

Just blackness.
