2. Chance Meeting
I woke up the next morning confused and tired. I hadn’t gotten much sleep that night. Plus I could not stop thinking about the man at the club last night. As I showered and got dressed I kept thinking about where I had seen him before. He was familiar, one of those people you don’t think you will ever forget but when you see them again you do forget. I sighed as I grabbed my computer bag and walked out of my hotel room. I kept trying to think of where I had seen the guy at the club as I walked down the stairs to the lobby. As I came into the lobby I kept walking, then I ran not someone.
“Oh gosh, I’m so sorry I should have been paying better attention” I said, flustered.
I looked up at the person I had run into. I gasped a little as I saw who it was. It was the guy from the club. Here, in broad daylight. I could see now that he had bright blue eyes, practically crystal blue, and they were just breath taking. I realized I was still staring at him and quickly blushed and looked away.
“Hey, it’s okay, I should have seen you coming.” He said with an accent that left me with no doubt that he was Irish. I blushed a bit more.
“Umm, right Once again I’m super sorry, but I’m gonna be late for work” I said. I wished I didn’t have to leave. I wanted to get to know this blonde stranger a little more but I had to go or else I was gonna be seriously late. I turned and started to walk away.
“Wait!” he called out from behind me.
I felt a hand on my arm and turned around to see him.
“You can’t go out.” he said
I gave him a confused look.
“Why can’t I go out?” I asked. God, I wish he would look away or something, I felt like I was in a spell just looking in his eyes.
“Because there’s snow… on the ground” he finally said.
I just gave him a look.
“I mean like there is a lot of snow. Almost everything is closed, schools, offices, roads, airports.” he said the last two words with a hint of sadness in his voice. I looked at him.
“Wait, did you say offices are closed?”
He nodded just as I felt my phone buzz, I pulled it out of my pocket and l saw a text from Lily confirming what the stranger had just told me.
“That’s just great, now what am I supposed to do. It’s not like I can go sightseeing.” I said, somewhat frustrated. I looked up at the man in front of me and saw a slow smile spreading across his face. I got a few butterflies at the look on his face. I told myself it was just nerves at the look on his face but I barely believed myself.
“Well, I could take you sightseeing. In the snow, that’s something you don’t do every day.” he suggested, with a smile. I just watched him smile; you could see the smile all over his face. It was a beautiful smile, one you could see in his eyes.
“Um… Well sure I guess.” I said.
His smile got bigger if that was even possible.
“Awesome! Um… You should probably go change into something a bit warmer. I will to. How about we meet back here in like 10minutes” he said. I nodded then started to walk away when I realize he was still holding my hand. I blushed and looked down. He looked down at the same time as me and I saw him blush a bit as well. He let go of my hand slowly.
“Err right. Sorry. So I’ll see you in 10?” he said, still blushing. It was actually kinda cute. I nodded and slowly turned to go. Now that o had actually talked to this man I was dreading leaving him, even if it was for only 10 minutes. I walked up stairs and back into my hotel room. I then decided to look out my window, there was snow everywhere. It wasn’t very deep, probably like 3-4 inches, I didn’t understand why everything was closed until I noticed exactly how bright and shiny everything was. So the roads had iced over. I quickly changed into leggings and then put on a pair of grey sweatpants that had a Stanford crest on the leg. I then put on a white under-armor and a light blue long-sleeve shirt that said “Endless Field Hockey”. I put on a pair of boots that would help keep my feet warm. I then went and brushed my hair out of its ponytail and braided it into one braid that started on one side of my head and ended on the other side. As I finished getting ready and grabbed my gloves and coat before walking out of the door again. As I was walking downstairs it occurred that I still didn’t know the strangers name. ‘Oh well I will figure it out soon enough’ I told myself. I walked into the lobby and smiled when I saw him.
