I breathe in the scent of the rose and smile. I walk shoulder to shoulder with James, who's carrying the picnic basket. We make our way towards the less crowded side of the beach. James leads me to this set up of a yellow umbrella and a blanket.
I stand next James, holding the flower, as he sets the basket down. He gestures to me to I sit down besides him. I place the flower down next to me and James opens up the basket.
"Your favorites" he says smiling while handing me a heart shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwich and an apple juice box.
"Aw how sweet" I reply referring to the heart shaped sandwich.
James just smiles in response.
"Thanks for this, it means a lot" I say taking a sip of the apple juice.
Me and James spent the rest of lunch talking, after we were finished, we walked around the beach for a while. We spend hours talking and laughing. We decided to head back to where we ate lunch to watch the sun set.
I walk back to our spot and sit down looking out into the ocean watching the beautiful sun set. I let the light breeze play with my hair. Then arms wrap around my waist and I find James sitting behind me. It is James and he's gazing into my eyes. He smiles and so do I. He then brings me back up to my feet and we both stare for a moment at each other. Before realizing it, I bring both hands around his neck and I play with his hair. James holds my hips and he leans into kiss me. A bunch of thoughts come rushing through my head. After an eternity of kissing we both look up at each other and then lean in and our noses touch. Me and James lay down on the blanket looking up at the now dark sky, covered with stars.
James drives me home, he said he could drive me to work tomorrow because I left my car at the beach. James pulls up into my drive way and walks along with me towards the door. Just as my hand goes for the door handle he stops me and says "Thanks, I had fun" I smile and kiss him on the cheek and I almost get inside my house, but he stops me again. "That's our good night kiss?" James flirts. I punch him slightly in the arm as we kiss for real.
"Much" he says smiling.
I walk into my house, and I see my mom walking to the door.
"Oh hey James! Would you like to stay for dinner?" my mom asks
"Uh, yeah sure, that would be great" he responds walking through the door as well.
"Jackie, I've invited James over for dinner!" Mom cheers and then disappears down the hall. James swings an arm around me as we walk towards the kitchen table. He occupies the seat next to me and holds my hand under the table and smiles. I couldn't help, but smile back and look into those eyes of his.
