The End

When the world ends, will Layla and Dylan be able to survive on their own? They haven't found any water in days, and their food selection is scarce. They need to find help, before their time is up. When they meet up with five boys from the fire, will they be able to survive together? Or will hell find them first? So far, hell is winning.

38. The End!

Layla's POV:

"Dare." Louis said. "I dare you to... kiss Ali." Zayn smirked. Ali and Louis'

faces turned to shock, and Niall looked jealous. Louis shrugged and leaned

towards Ali. Ali didn't pull away, but she didn't want it to happen. "Done."

Louis smiled. Ali stood up and sat on Niall's lap. "Harry, truth or dare?" Louis

asked. "Truth." Harry said. "Ok. How much do you love Layla?" Louis asked. I

looked up and waited for his answer. "Words don't even begin to describe my love

for her. There's no number big enough to say how much I love her. She means the

world to me." Harry smiled. I blushed and looked down. "Niall, truth or dare?"

Harry asked. "Truth." Niall replied. "How much do you miss your food?" Harry

asked. Niall stood up and practically said a speech about how hard it was for

him to cut back. Everyone laughed. I started to feel really dizzy and my head

started pounding.

Harry's POV:

Layla's face got really pale. "Layla? What's wrong?" I asked. She closed her

eyes and collapsed to the ground. "Layla!" I yelled. Everyone rushed over to her

and helped me get her onto the couch. "Layla wake up!" I demanded. She gave no

response. "Layla please!" I begged. Tears were streaming down my face. "Why

isn't she waking up?!" I screamed. "I don't know Harry but you have to calm

down!!!" Zayn yelled. Perrie dragged me over to the couch and gripped onto my

hands. "Listen to me. Layla's very sick and things like this are going to

happen. But if you want her to get better, you have to calm down. Do you

understand me? I'm not kidding Harry. You getting like this will only make

things worse." She explained. I nodded and heard a loud cough from Layla. I

rushed over to her. "What happened?" She asked. She looked confused. "You

fainted." Liam said. Layla squeezed her eyes shut and groaned. "What's wrong?"

Louis asked. "Everything." She replied. "What hurts?" Niall asked. "Everything."

She said again. "Where's Harry?" She asked. "I'm right here." I said kneeling

down next to her. She grabbed onto my hand as I helped her sit up. She sighed as

she put her head in her hands. "How do you feel?" Liam asked. "Like crap." Layla

replied. "I'm not even tired or anything. I just feel awful." She added. I sat

on the couch next to her and laid her down, resting her head in my lap. "What

time is it?" Zayn asked. Eleanor looked at her watch, "9:30." "We're gonna go

back to our apartments. Ali you could stay with me tonight so Harry could take

care of Layla. We'll come back as soon as we wake up. Get us if you need us.

Goodnight guys. Feel better Layla." Niall said. We waved and said goodbye, Layla

and I were left alone. I stroked her hair and we stayed quiet. "Today didn't

bring the best news." I stated. Layla shook her head and looked up at me while

she smiled. "What?" I questioned. "Thank you." She smiled. "For what?" I asked.

"Taking care of me." She answered. "It's my job." "No it's not. You don't have

to do it. You chose to, so thank you." I smiled, "You're welcome." Layla's eyes

started to droop and I walked her to bed. "I'll be right here, ok?" I asked. She

nodded and closed her eyes.

Layla's POV:

I woke up and looked for Harry, but only found a blanket in his place. There was

a knock on my door, and it slowly opened. "Babe?" Harry's morning voice echoed

throughout the room. "How do you feel?" He asked noticing I was awake. My head

hurt too much to answer. Everything felt worse. "Oh no. Is it getting worse?"

Harry asked. I squeezed my eyes shut and nodded softly. He sighed and walked

over to me. "You're burning up." He said taking his hand off of my forehead. "Is

everyone here?" I managed to get out. "They'll be here in a little bit. Niall

and Ali are here." He replied. He sat down next to me and Niall and Ali came in.

"How is she?" Niall asked. "Everything got worse." Harry answered.

Layla's POV:

"What do you mean it all got worse?" Ali asked. "I mean it all got worse. Nothing got better." Harry explained. I heard a knock on the front door and sat up next to Harry. "I'll get it." Ali said. Harry laid me back down as the room stayed silent. I heard Ali open the door and scream. Niall ran down the hall and Harry and I jolted out of bed. "What happened?" Harry asked running close behind Niall. Ali was shaking. "He's here." "Who's here?" Niall asked. "The madman. He's here." Ali explained running towards Niall and away from the door. I started to feel dizzy and gripped onto Harry for support. "What's wrong?" He asked. "I'm just dizzy. That's all." I answered. He wrapped his arm around me and held me up. "What are we gonna do? We can't look for new places to stay when Layla's this sick." Ali explained. Niall walked towards the wall of windows. "I see him walking outside. He's closer to the lake now." He explained. "Me and Layla will keep watch, go get everyone else and tell them to get everything they need and come here. We all have to stick together." Harry said. "We'll go now." Niall sighed and walked outside with Ali. "Are you ok? What was that?" Harry asked walking me over to the couch. "I...I don't know. I got really dizzy like I did yesterday. I thought I was going to faint again so I grabbed onto you. Did I hurt you?" I asked. "No, don't worry about it. Are you ok now?" He replied. "I don't know. I feel like crap." I said resting my head on his shoulder. There was a knock at the door and I stood up to get it. "No, it's not safe. Stay here." Harry said sitting me back down. He walked over through the door and slowly opened it. "How's Layla?" I heard a familiar voice ask. Louis. Harry welcomed everyone in and they all threw their bags to the ground, walked over to the living room and sat down. "How are you feeling?" They all asked. "Terrible." I sniffled. Harry sat back down next to me and rubbed my back. "Anyone hungry? We have some bread and a toaster. I could find some butter somewhere." Harry explained. Everyone nodded and said thank you. I walked over to Harry and helped him find the butter and knives. "Here's the butter." I said grabbing it from the fridge and handing him a knife. "Thanks." He smiled. I rested my elbow on the counter and placed my chin on my hand. I began to listen in on everyone's conversations and watched Harry butter the toast. "You ok?" He asked. I nodded. That's when my stomach began to hurt again. I fidgeted my position trying to get it to stop, but it didn't work. "You're green." Harry said swiftly turning around and grabbing the garbage behind him just in time. I snatched it from his hands and began to throw up. Harry held my hair up behind me as everyone crowded around. "Are you done?" Harry asked. I shook my head and began to throw up again. After a few minutes I started to feel a little better. My stomach was still killing me, but I wasn't puking anymore.

Harry's POV:

"Here." I said handing Layla the garbage just incase. "Thanks." She said as she wrapped her fingers around it and sat it down next to her. "So he was here?" Eleanor asked. "Ya! I opened the door and he was standing right there. It was weird he didn't try to do anything." Ali explained. Niall and Liam shook their heads as everyone else put on looks of disbelief. "So he found us. What are we gonna do?" Liam asked. "Stay here for now. These couches are pull outs. We have another bedroom. So that's already 4 beds. Can everyone share?" Zayn asked. Everyone seemed to be ok with it. Niall and Ali were the only uncertain ones but they said that they'd make it work. Everyone claimed there places and started unpacking all of there things. "I see him! He's just walking around down there." Louis declared. Everyone rushed to the window and looked down at him. "Is there someone with him?" Layla asked. "It looks like it." I replied. "Great." She sighed sarcastically and walked back to her bedroom, taking the garbage with her. I followed her in there, standing outside the doorframe. "You could come in you know." Layla explained. "I know." I said walking towards her. "Feel any better?" I asked. "No. Not at all." She sighed and shook her head. "I'm gonna go to sleep. It's already later then I though it was. We must've all woken up late." She said. "Everyone else is going to bed too. Zayn checked everything and make sure the doors and windows were all locked. You're safe." I told her. She smiled and hugged me. "Thank you for being here for me." She whispered into my chest. "Don't worry about it. Want me to come to bed with you?" I asked. She nodded and laid down, patting the spot next to her. I scooted closer to her and cuddled us into the blankets, letting Layla's body heat from her fever warm me up. "Goodnight." She whispered. "Goodnight. Love you." "Love you too." She sighed and fell asleep.

Layla's POV:

I must've puked up half of the things in my body just now. I was weak and tired and everything hurt. You could see the concern in Harry's face, but he was exhausted. "Go to sleep." I choked out. "No, I need to help you." He yawned. I sighed and leaned over the garbage can again. Throwing up wasn't fun. "Are you gonna be ok?" Harry asked. "Harry I'll be-" I stopped seeing the tears falling down his face. "Harry? What's wrong?" I coughed. "I'm scared." He replied. "Of?" "Of losing you." He cried. "I'm not going to die, Harry." I promised him. "Just stay strong, ok?" He asked. I nodded and smiled, plopping back onto my back and looking up at him. "I love you." I grinned. "I love you, too." He weakly smiled. The next morning everyone met in the living room. I was starting to feel better, but I was still a wreck. "How are you feeling?" Eleanor asked. "It's getting there." I answered. "Did the cough go away?" Danielle asked. "I think so, but now my stomach is killing me." I sighed. "One thing leaves and another comes." Perrie explained. I nodded and hunched over on the couch. Louis stood up and took Harry into the other room.

Louis' POV:

"You gotta get her better. It's not safe for us to stay here and it's not safe for her to be this sick. You need to fix it." I explained. "How am I supposed to do that?!" Harry yelled. "Try." I said walking out the door. "Try? I've been trying! What else does he expect me to do?!" Harry yelled and banged his fists against the wall and walked out. "You ok?" Layla asked. "Uh...ya! Why wouldn't I be?" He asked. "Because when you punched the wall you broke the mirror." She said pointing to the place where a small mirror used to hang on the wall, now shattered into bits on the floor. Harry shrugged and plopped down into a chair. Layla shook her head and sighed. "How many times do I have to tell you that I'm ok?" Layla asked. Everyone looked at Harry, waiting for an answer. "As much as it takes for me to believe it." Harry replied. "When will that be?" Layla asked, clearly annoyed. "When you're better." Harry said. "Great, I get to deal with your anxiety for God only knows how long." Layla snapped. "I'm just trying to help you!" Harry yelled. "I know! And I appreciate that but you spazzing out and breaking things doesn't help much!" Layla yelled. "Harry, just let it go." I tried calming him down, but it didn't work. "Why don't you get better then?! Maybe that'll stop me from spazzing out!" He yelled. "I can't just get better." She explained. "Maybe if you tried you would." Harry said. "I can't try to fix this! I'm sick! I don't know what the hell is wrong with me how am I supposed to fix this?!" Layla started crying. "Grow up and stop crying. You're probably gagging yourself to throw up now. I doubt that you're still sick. It's probably an act for attention. And this madman? Ha! Did you pay him to kill you? You're helpless." Harry declared. Layla stared in shock with streams of tears falling down her face. Everyone gasped at Harry's words, but he didn't look sorry at all. "Loving you was a mistake." Layla cried as she ran out the front door of the apartment. "Layla no! He's out there!" Niall yelled. "I don't freaking care! I'd rather die then see Harry again!" She sobbed and continued to run away. "You should be ashamed of yourself." Eleanor snapped at Harry and ran to find Layla. "How could you say that?" Liam shook his head in disbelief and followed Danielle out the door. Harry and I were the only two left in the apartment. "You're terrible." I snapped. He looked at me and glared. "She's a baby." He said. "She's sick, Harry! She's being strong for how sick she is, and you're criticizing her for trying!" I yelled and stomped out the door. I was furious. How could he do that?!

Layla's POV:

"No! No! Leave me alone!" I yelled at Liam. "C'mon Layla! We have to go back!" He begged. I just cried into his shirt and gave in, letting him pick me up and carry me back to the apartment. "I don't want to see Harry." I whispered. "He's in Ali's room." Liam said as he walked me to my bedroom. Eleanor, Danielle, and Perrie stayed in the bedroom with me when the boys left. "I can't believe he said that." I stated softly. "That was terrible." Eleanor shook her head. "I don't want attention." I declared. "I know. You're really sick. Just rest and I'll talk to him." Danielle said. I smiled at them and gave them hugs. Once they were out, I laid down and fell asleep.

Danielle's POV:

"I can't believe you." I said barging into Harry's room. "Get out." He demanded. "No. Layla's really hurt." I said to him. "What does she care, she's mad at me anyways. She thinks I'm too overprotective, I was just trying to help her." He sighed. "She thinks you don't love her." I told him. His head shot up, a look of disbelief and shock on his face. "Really?" He asked, obviously hurt. I nodded, "It really sounded like you could care less about her. I don't blame her for thinking that. You sounded like an ass." Tears slowly fell from his eyes. "Does she still love me?" He asked. "I think she has mixed feelings about what to think right now." I replied. His lip started trembling. "You need to fix this." I added. He stood up and ran to her bedroom door, banging his fists against it. "Layla! Layla I'm sorry! I don't know what I was thinking! Layla I love you! Please give me a chance to explain!" He begged. There were soft footsteps and a click of a doorknob being opened. "Layla I'm sorry." Harry said cupping her face in his hands and staring her straight in the eyes. "I-" "No, listen. I was an ass, Layla. You deserve better. I'm really, truly sorry." He apologized. Layla stayed silent and looked away. "I love you." Harry stated. Layla looked him in the eyes and let out a weak smile as Harry pressed his lips to her forehead. "You're really warm." He said. Layla closed her eyes and nodded, "I know." She wrapped her arms around Harry's torso. "I really do love you, Layla. I can't have you thinking that I don't." Harry said. "I know." She sighed. I walked out of the room and gave them some privacy. "How are they?" Liam asked. "They're as happy as they used to be." I smiled.

Harry's POV:

"Harry, I need to sit down." Layla said grabbing onto me for support. I walked her over to her bed and helped her sit down. "What's going on?" I asked. "I'm just really dizzy." She explained. I laid her down and laid down next to her, draping my arm over her waist. "How do you feel?" I asked her. "Nasty." She coughed. "Why is it taking so long to go away?" I questioned. "It's only been about four days, Harry. Plus, I don't have any medicine. Who knows how long it'll last." She replied. I sighed and started singing to her in her ear. "I love you, Harry." She whispered. "I love you, too."

Layla's POV:

When I woke up, nausea immediately took over my body. I tried not to wake up Harry as I squirmed out of bed over to the bathroom. I leaned over the toilet and let it all out...again. "Babe?" Harry groggily asked. "What's wrong?" I shook my head and told him to go back to bed but he denied. "Are you ok?" He asked. I nodded and brushed my teeth with what we had. I pulled my hair up and wiped my mouth with the back of my hand. "I'm so sick of being sick." I sighed. "I want to get out of here. I want to leave." I stated. "I want to find other people and food and another place to stay. An actual house maybe." I added. Harry nodded in agreement. I followed himself outside by everyone else. "Better yet?" Danielle asked. I was about to reply but Harry shook his head no. Everyone sighed. I couldn't stand it anymore. I needed to do something. "Can we please go outside?" I begged. "But the-" "I know who's out there," I said cutting Liam off, "and I want to figure out who it is." I stood up and walked to the door, pulling my jacket off of the coat rack and tugging it on me. "Are you coming or not?" I asked everyone as I turned around. They all stood up and put on their jackets as well. We walked outside, splitting up into groups to try to find the man. "Did you hear that?" I jumped. "Hear what?" Harry asked. Footsteps were coming from behind him. "That!" I exclaimed. He turned around just as the man came out from behind a building. I shuffled backwards, calling out for everyone else. They all rushed over, standing around us. Zayn and Louis snuck around the back of the building. "Drop the gun." Liam demanded. The man didn't move. "I said to drop the gun." Liam's voice raised and his muscles tensed. The man's weapon fell to the ground, clattering as the bullets poured out. "Who are you?" Harry asked. The man stayed motionless. "It's not like you'll get arrested or anything, everyone's already dead of you haven't noticed." I said. Louis and Zayn's faces popped up from behind the building. Perrie have them the signal and they jumped on the man, pulling his hands behind his back as another man jumped out and attacked Harry. Liam and Niall stopped him. I ran over to the men, pulled off their masks, and gasped. "Kyle?! Dylan?!"

The End! Sorry for the cliffhanger, but the men ended up being Layla's brothers! I have another fanfic coming up! You'll all love it! Tell me what you think! -Taylor
