2. Manhattan baby!
As we arrive in Manhattan I am surprised by all of the people. The only time I was ever away from the foster home was when I visited my dying Grandmother who was my only family I ever actually knew. As I get out of the cab with my bags I breathe a breath of fresh and smile. I go to the nearest apartment building, Downtown Heights, and ask about an apartment. I pay the first months rent and head up to the fourth floor. As I open the door I can't help, but freeze. It was the cleanest place I ever saw. There weren't any toys or food or stains anywhere and it was wonderful! I went to my room and saw that it was decent sized. It had a queen sized bed, a flat screen tv that was inserted into the wall and a good sized dresser with a mirror on it. I walked into the bathroom and started to put my stuff away in the cupboards under the sink. Once I finish putting my bathroom stuff away I start on my clothes right as I hear a knock on my door. I lay the clothes down that I had in my hands and went to answer the door.
When I opened the door there was a guy who looked to be around my age standing there. He had brown hair and was wearing a striped shirt.
"Hi, I'm Louis! I'm staying in the apartment down the hall from you for a while, while I am here in Manhattan." He says with a big smile.
"Hi, I'm Ashley." I reply. For a moment we stand there in silence and then I remember my manners and invite him in.
"I would love to, but I have to be somewhere. If the offer is still up this afternoon, however, I will take you up on it." He says with a wink.
"Sure, it will give me time to unpack my things anyway." I reply with a smile.
"Okay, then I will see you later Ashley." He says and walks down the hall.
I close the door and stand there frozen for a bit. He had the cutest British accent. I wondered if I just made a new friend. I go back to my room and finish putting away my clothes. I then take the sheets that were on the bed and put my own sheets and comforters on. Perfect, for now, I thought.
I walked into my kitchen and my stomach growled. I was about to get some food, but then I remember that I don't have any. I decide to go to the grocery store. I grab my purse and jacket and head out.
