Today is the day I get to leave the place that I will forever despise. As I pack my bags I hear children running up and down the hallways and screaming at the top of their lungs. Suddenly my door opens and a little girl comes in. Her name is Sarah she has caramel colored hair and blue eyes. She is two years old and I love her like my own little sister. Boy am I going to miss her.
"Ashwee?" Sarah says.
"Yes?" I reply.
"Where you going?"
"I have to go, but I promise that I will visit you okay?" I say. As Sarah realizes that I am leaving and am no longer going to be there full time she starts to cry. I walk over to her and give her a hug and we stand there hugging for a long time.
"Ashley! The cab is here!" yells Missy the foster care director.
"I'm coming!" I yell back. I turn to Sarah and give her one last hug and a kiss. I pick up my bags and Sarah and bring them to the front door. I hand Sarah over to Missy and take one last look at the house that has been making my life hell ever since I can remember. The cab driver puts my stuff in the back for me and I get into the backseat. "Manhattan please." I say. I watch as the foster home slowly gets smaller and smaller, once it is out of sight I let out a breathe that I didn't know I was holding. I am finally free.
