I woke up the next morning in a ray of sunshine. I squinted my eyes adjusting to the sun rays beaming down and shivered when I felt the cool February breeze hit my bare skin. I felt breath on my chest and saw Lessie snuggled against me. I then vaguely remembered last night's events and well, it was a very great night. I unwrapped my arms from around Lessie trying not to wake her, but to no avail. She squirmed and her eyes popped open, then squinted when trying to adjust to the rays of the sun.
"Good morning." I said kissing the top of her head.
"Morning." She said lazily, rubbing her eyes. She sat up and looked around the empty beach. "What time is it?" She asked. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and tried to press the button to unlock the screen, but it was dead.
"Phone's dead. But it can't be that late in the afternoon. It might even be noon." I said. She just nodded.
"Well can we go, this has been nice and all but I miss my bed... and my shower." She said. I chuckled and nodded. We wrapped up the blanket and cleaned up the food and bottles of wine from the night before. I stuffed it in my trunk and threw my blanket in there as well. Lessie had already hopped into the car, which made me frown a little. I wanted to open up the door for her. I got in the car and put my key in the ignition. I put the car in drive and made a U-turn to head back towards our homes.
"Did you have fun last night?" I asked, not looking at her. But I could feel her squirm in her seat a little.
"Yeah. Uh... did you?" She asked kind of nervous.
"Oh, I absolutely loved it." I said smirking. She didn't say anything, just kept quiet. I looked at her quickly and noticed a blush of red on her face. I put my hand atop of hers and squeezed it. "No need to be embarrassed love." She sighed and just nodded.
"Thank you Harry, you've been such a sweet gentleman. Well, most of the time at least. I really had fun." She said.
"Do you believe I like you now?" She chuckled a little.
"Yes, yes I do." I smiled and pulled her hand to my lips and left a soft kiss. The rest of the ride was filled with idle chatter and singing some songs on the radio. I wasn't honestly singing though, just sounding like a dying cat along with Lessie. It was fun though, her company was great. I arrived at her house, perhaps a little to soon for my liking. I got out of the car and opened the door for her, helping her out and earning a kiss on the cheek. We walked the long walk to her front door.
"Yesterday Harry, it was amazing. Your such a charmer." She said winking at me.
"I try love, I try." I smirked at her and she gave me a smile. I tilted her head up until her eyes met mine, the ember color making me smile out of pure joy. As I bent down to give her a soft kiss on the lips, her front door opened. And it was a middle aged woman, her hair in a high bun and she was in a red button up top and a red skirt. She had on Prada glasses and a clutch bag that was also Prada. I quickly stepped back and cleared my throat.
"Mom?" Alessia said very, very shocked.
"Yes honey. Your father and I are back. And I've heard, that you went out with some boy." She said stepping out of the house, her hills clicking and clacking against the cobble porch and she circled around me and her daughter. "Such a fine looking young man." She said. "May I ask your name?"
"Harry Styles." I said nervously.
"Well Mr. Styles, thank you for finally bringing my daughter home. But I think you should be on your way." She said shooing me away.
"Yes Ma'am, it was nice to met you." I said. "Bye Lessie." I said turning on my heels and making the awkward walk back to my car that seemed to be farther away then it was before. I felt her mother's gaze burning into my back. I got in my car and looked at the house once more to see them gone into the house. I began my drive home. To say that was the most awkward moment of my life, was probably an understatement. Maybe she liked me, she called me fit right? Ah, maybe that was all just a show. Maybe they don't like me since we were out all night. I let my thoughts jumble through my mind until I returned home. I pulled my, well I guess now it's my mom's car again, into the driveway. I got out spinning the keys in my hand until I reached the door. When I put the key in the lock I heard muffled screams, and a loud thud. Immediately my calm and serene feeling was replaced with desperation and anger. I unlocked the door and threw the keys on the entry table. I walked into the kitchen to see my father shoved against my mum, her back to the fridge. Tears staining her little face.
"Get off of her!" I yelled. He turned around and I pushed him off of her. He barley moved but it was strong enough to get him off of my mum. She fell forward and I caught her. There was a bruise on her right breast and on her right cheek. "You bastard, get the fuck out!" I yelled to him. He didn't move, instead he moved closer to me. I shot up and prepared for him to try and get to my mum. But instead he swung his fist into my cheek making me stumble backwards, almost tripping over my mum. He didn't stop there, he stepped over my mum and began to choke me.
"You little fucker! You think it's okay to talk to the man who created you? Huh? You think that's alright you curly haired cunt!" He began to choke me more and I was desperate to breathe. He was so much stronger then me, and I was beginning to see black and white. My mom jumped on his back, he stopped choking me and moved backwards, ramming her into the dining table. She slumped off him and to the floor. He pressed down on his shirt and jeans, and spit into the sink. "I'll be back soon Anne. And for you, curly cue, I'll be seeing you real soon. Fucker." He walked out of the house, slamming the door behind him.
I crawled to my mom who was on her knees holding her stomach, crying uncontrollably. I held her in my arms and she cried into my shirt.
"Harry, I'm sorry." I shushed her and rubbed her back. None of this was her fault. It isn't her fault she fell in love with a jerk, it's not her fault he can't seem to leave us alone. It's not my fault that she has these bruises on her face.
"Sh, Mum. Look at me." She turned her eyes to look into mine. Her eyes were red and swollen from all the crying she had been doing. "Don't apologize, do you hear me? Don't. This is not your fault okay? Things are going to change. And they're going to change starting today." I helped her up and she put a hand on the kitchen counter for support.
"What.. what do you mean things are going to change?"
"For starts, we have to get out of here. We have to leave our house." I said sternly.
"But Harry, we can't just leave. I mean, it's not that simple." She said.
"Please, just hear me out. We have to leave. I'm sure we can find a place to stay until everything is moved out. We can find a two bedroom apartment. We can get away from him, at least for a while until I get us out of this town." I said. She still had tears running from her eyes. I grabbed a towel and damped it. I wiped the tears from her eyes and placed it on the mark on her cheek.
"Harry." She said quietly. "I don't think-"
"Do you want him to keep hurting us?" I said getting irritated at my mother's persistence. "Do you want him to keep beating you senseless? Come on mum! I'm not letting him near you again!" I said upset. I threw the towel on the ground and sat at the kitchen table. I ran my hands through my hair and took loud breaths.
"Okay." She said quietly. "Okay. We-we can move." She said. I looked up at her. She walked towards me and rubbed a circle on my back, trying to calm me down.
"When." I said plainly.
"As soon as possible son."
"Then we start today." I say rising from my seat.
"But Harry, you have to go to school." She says. I turn around and give her a dumbfounded look. When I dropped Alessia off it was around 7:50, school didn't start until 9:00. It was about 8:40 now. And there was no way I was going to school.
"Mum, I'm not going to bloody school." I said dismissing the subject. She must not have wanted to argue and just nodded. "Please, take care of the marks. I hate to see you bruised. I'm going to go shower and stuff okay?" I said. She nodded.
"I love you son." She said before turning around and grabbing a towel from a drawer.
"I love you to mum." I said barely audible, but she heard me. I walked upstairs and went into my bedroom. I pulled my phone out of my back pocket, surprised it didn't slip out, and called Liam. It answered on the 3rd ring, which was usual for him.
"Hey mate." He said seemingly happy.
"Liam, a lot of shit has happened man. I need to know if you can come over after school or something." I said.
"Uh, yeah yeah sure. But why? Is everything okay?"
"It's my fucking father. If you can even call him that. He's put his hands on my mum for the last time! Things are changing. I'm getting us out of here and we're finding an apartment, and I'm going to do something to protect us. Something." I said.
"I'm sorry mate. But no problem, I'll come over right after school alright? If you need something else text me. I'm here for you."
"Yeah, I know. Thanks man."
"No problem, love you." He said. I chuckled a little.
"Shut up you puss." He laughed a little.
"Bye." I tossed my phone on my bed and walked into the bathroom. I stripped out of my clothes and turned on the shower. I looked at my face in the mirror, my left cheek was starting to turn kind of purple. It would bruise, and people would ask questions. Questions I don't want to answer. I shrugged out the thought and got into the shower. The warm water rolling down my hair, showering over my chest and back. Things are going to change. Things are going to change... I just kept telling myself that. Although the way things have always been with my father, it won't be that easy.
