Guys, I will be more than happy to get your feedback and constructive criticism. and please feel free to point out any mistakes, grammatical, spelling, etc. it would actually be helpful since my mother tongue is not English.
As soon as the driver closed the car the fake, loving smile on Liam's face disappeared and was replaced with a smirk that I well knew was for being able to scare the hell out of me about moving in. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction by acting all angry and freaked out, but I seriously couldn't hold it in anymore.
"What the fuck was that Liam?"
"What? Don't act like you hate the idea. I know you wanted this from the beginning."
Now I was fuming with anger. I knew he was a jerk but I guess I had underestimated him.
"Well sorry Liam, but I don't think I can do that!"
"Well you should have thought about it sooner when you were signing the bloody contract!". He said as he rolled his eyes.
Yeah the contract. I knew I was flushing my whole life and future down the toilet when I signed it. But I had no choice. Soon I found myself wandering in the memories of last month again.
Soon after our not so pleasant encounter in the restroom, I was in the very same car which I was in right now to have a "private conversation" with Paul and Liam.
"I thought told you not to let anybody in." Paul said to the man who was blocking the restroom door earlier.
"She was sick and I didn't want to make a scene."
They were talking and talking and I felt like they had forgotten that I was there.I coughed to remind them of my presence.
Paul apologized. "Look, about what you heard..."
"I won't tell anyone. I swear! Listen this is not a good time. I have a sick father here who needs surgery, soon, and I have to find a way to pay for the whole thing on my own, because there's no one else to help us. I..." I stopped mid track, and closed my eyes, embarrassed. What was I thinking, telling these to complete strangers?! Well one of them wasn't exactly a stranger since he was Liam Payne and everybody knew him but I couldn't care less about him right now!
I muttered an apology and mentally slapped myself. seriously, what was I thinking? Was I trying to buy their sympathy? No, of course not! I just needed to tell someone about my situation, since I couldn't tell it to my own family. I was just trying to numb the pain for a bit but I knew what I did was stupid. I had just made a fool out of myself.
After a long silence I decided that there was nothing else to talk about, I grabbed the handle and was about to open the door when Paul said: "Wait!"
Liam and I both looked at him surprised.
"I have an offer for you."
"Sir did you not hear me when I said I had to help my dad?"
"The offer concerns you dad too!"
That got my attention.
"I would pay for all your dad medical expenses and in return you would date Liam."
"Paul do you even know what you're talking about? We don't know her. How are we gonna trust her with this? For all we know she can be a twisted crazy bitch who can ruin everything! We met her in the Men's room for God's sake!" This was the first time that Liam spoke after we got out of the restroom. I liked him better when he was silent. How dare he insult me like this?
"I was so sick I didn't have any other choice but to get to the nearest restroom which happened to be the Men's room." I almost yelled back at him in my defense. He just acted like he didn't hear me and waited for Paul to answer his questions.
"Liam, first, she heard the whole conversation, this way we can make sure she won't tell anyone Second, before arranging the contract, I'll do a research about her to make sure she's... not gonna make a problem."
Okay, I was sick of them speaking like I wasn't there. When they were acting like this when they needed me how would they act when they didn't need me anymore?
"And what makes you so sure that I'm gonna sign that "contract" of yours?!" I asked angrily.
Liam smirked and muttered something that sounded like: "Oh please!" and Paul shook his head and said: "I'm sorry for disrespecting you, I'm just desperate as much as you are. No body said you had to sign the contract. So why don't you just get off and give it some thought while I sort everything out and arrange the contract. Then after you read it you can decide if you want to sign it or not."
After weighting all my options, which wasn't a hard thing to do since I didn't have many, I ended up in Paul's office, reading the contract.
after reading each line I explained it for him to make sure if I have got it right.
"So you will pay for all my dad's medical expenses right? For the whole time that I am dating Liam."
Paul nodded and I went on. So that was what I was going to get out of the deal. In return I had to "Not let anyone know that our relationship is fake. Even my mom?"
"Even your mom." He replied with wide eyes as if it was the most obvious thing.
"I should do anything the management asks me. Hey, I've got a problem with that. How do I know you won't make me do something...bad?" I didn't know how to say what I meant.
Paul laughed. "Just add the things you don't want to do as an exception."
I started writing the things that I wouldn't be willing to do and when I added moving in together to the list of my exceptions he stopped me. "That's not an option. You have to move in together eventually!"
Hesitantly I scratched that part, hoping that day wouldn't come any time soon. I was hoping that my dad would get better soon and I could put an end to this stupid contract. But then Paul said something that crashed all my hopes.
"And no matter what, you guys can't break up before at least a year. We don't want people to think that Liam isn't able to have a steady relationship. Unless a serious problem occurs"
A serious problem? Could that Problem be about Liam's issues? I guessed it could. I would just put up with him until my dad recovers and then wait for Liam to end the relationship himself. There was no way he would stand me for over a year. I could count on that.
"Any problem from your side and our financial aid would be cut back immediately." Paul shot me a warning look. I nodded understandingly and kept reading the conditions and rules.
Just as I was about to sign the contract, the door burst open and Liam came in.
"I wanna talk to her Paul."
"Shoot mate." Paul said as he leaned back in his chair.
"Alone!" Okay, seriously, someone needed to teach that kid some manners!
"Just don't mess up, alright?" Paul said as he got up and left the room.
Liam walked up right to where I sat and towered over me. "Look Janice..."
"I don't fucking care. You have two options, run while you can, which is highly recommended, or sign the contract and make your life a living hell. 'Cause no matter what, I'll make sure you'll suffer through every second of being with me."
As much as I hated to admit it, he scared the shit out of me. I couldn't believe back home, when my friends went crazy over one direction I used to say I only tolerate them because of Liam. He seemed so sweet back then. Nothing like the monster that was now before me threatening me not to sign the contract.
'Don't let him scare you Alex. He's just bluffing. Even if he isn't, it's a sacrifice you have to make for dad! You owe him that much.' With that thought I pushed Liam away from me and signed the contract before giving myself anytime for having second thoughts.
"Welcome to hell Alex!"
