3. Are You Flirting?

I sat down at my usual spot in the park. I pulled out my book and began reading. I turned my music on too so that all sound would be blocked out. After about five minutes of reading someone tapped me on the shoulder. I looked up and saw the familiar silhouette of the guy from the night before. I pulled the headphones off of my ears and paused the music.

"Hello love," The guy greeted me.

"Hi," I replied. I was surprised to see him here. I kind of expected it to be a one night thing where we met and he was off. And yet, here he was.

"I brought Nandos," He held up a bag full of food.

       "You enjoy that," I laughed.

"You're going to make me eat it alone?" He asked skeptically.

"It's your food," I stated clearly.

"But I wouldn't mind if you ate some too," He exclaimed.

"I'm not a big Nandos person," I replied simply opening my book.

"That's outrageous!" He took the book out of my hand. "You have to have some," He insisted still holding my book.

"Can I have my book back?" I asked him reaching up for it.

"What do I get in return?" He questioned.

"Nothing. It's my book," I tried to say seriously but ended up laughing.

"How about you enjoy some Nandos with me?" He suggested.

"Are you flirting?" I asked him.

"No. Of course not," He answered. "Nandos for the book. Deal?" He inquired. I sighed but he took it as a yes. He sat down in front of me, carefully placing the book on his right while I was on the left of him.

We ate Nandos and he kept a conversation going. "How long have you been taking pictures?" He asked me.

"Since I was like eight." I answered.

"Are you surprised I came here today?" He questioned me.

       "Yes," I replied truthfully.

       "Why?" He asked.

"Because its my spot," I declared.

"Do you I'd come tomorrow?" He inquired.

"I wouldn't know. I'm going to some stupid concert tomorrow," I replied.

"Well good because I have prior obligations," He answered vaguely. "What concert are you going to?" He asked.

"A One Direction concert. My friend is like obsessed with them! I think they are okay. Probably full of themselves," I vented.

"One Direction? How do you like their music?" The guy asked.

"The music is okay. They put on a good show for everyone I guess," I replied eyeing my book because I was done eating.

"Well you know what the Americans say; don't judge a book by its cover," He told me.

"Sure. Can I have my book back now?" I questioned holding out my hand. He high-fived it and just smiled.

I sat up on my knees and reached over to grab my book but ended up falling. The mystery man caught me and let me have the book. "Isn't this the time when you run off?" He asked.

"Aren't you ever going to stop asking questions?" I replied sitting back down.

"That must be a really good book," He changed the topic smoothly.

       "Mhm." I responded.

"Well I think I might just have to read it now," He laughed.

"You do that. So I think I should go," I told him.

       "Going so soon?" He asked.

"What are you talking about? We've been talking for like, two hours." I said standing up.

"Will you do me a favor?" He questioned me.

"What's the favor?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Meet me here on Saturday. At dusk," He requested. I thought about it. It was Thursday today and HE wanted to meet.

       "No," I said.

"Why?" He asked trying to cover his dissapointment.

"Because it's my spot and I get here first," I answered simply before turning to walk away.

"See you Saturday!" He called as I walked out of sight.
