I woke up on the sofa next to Liam. I realised that I must have fallen asleep after what happened yesterday evening. There was a blue blanket wrapped around me to keep me warm, it wasn't their yesterday so Liam must have given it to me when I was asleep. I untangled myself from Liam's arms, it was quite awkward as this was only our second date and we had already kinda 'slept together'.
I ran my finger through my messy hair as I looked around frantically for my purse. When I did find it in the end I wrote a quick note to Liam and left it on the kitchen table. I then quietly slipped out of the house. The streets empty and the air was cold. I rubbed my hands together attempting to warm myself up the I just wasted energy. I crossed a couple roads as I headed back to my house. Just as I unlocked the door my phone rang. It was Liam.
"Why did you leave?" He asked " sorry, I had to get home, loads of stuff to do and... Well don't really feel like spending a practically living with Louis." I explained. Liam sighed. " okay, um.. Sorry for the rubbish second date, I will definitely make it up to you, don't worry" he laughed. " that's okay, you where really nice about the whole, already knowing Louis thing." I said sincerely. Liam couldn't have been nicer to me last night and I would be forever grateful. " okay, I will leave you to do whatever you need to do... Bye Christy, talk to you soon" he said and hung up.
I sighed and pushed open the door. The first thing I realized when I walked into my house was that it was awfully silent. My mum was supposed to be home. She didn't tell me that she was going on a business trip or anything, so she should be at home. I flipped the switch to turn on the light in the hallway. The next thing I noticed was that something seemed different, a bad different. "Mum?" I called up the stairs , there was no reply so called again. I slowly put my keys down on the table as I wearily walked around the first floor. Fear was gripping my heart and it began to thump harder in my chest. I moved slowly around the house, every second hoping that my mum would jump out at me and scream 'scared you!', but it never happened. the last room I was going to check was the living room, it's door was closed so I grabbed the handle, tempted not to open the door but knowing it was for the best I pulled the door open. There lyng on the floor was my mother. I rushed to her side and lifted up her head, calling her name. She seemed to be unconscious. I called her name again and shook her gently. Nothing. When I placed her head back down I started to shake in horror at what I saw. Blood, covering my hand, everywhere. Just then I heard a thump coming from the floor above me, then slow silent footsteps nearing the top of the staircase. I stifled my scream and grabbed my phone. This couldn't be happening. I called the first person on my contacts list. "Help, my mums hurt and there is somebody in our house" I whimpered into the phone, crying with fear and worry. This isn't real, I'm still lying on the sofa next Liam, my mums still at home, happily working on her computer, please let this not be real, though to myself as I sat on the floor shaking. This stuff only happened in horror movies, not in real life. I heard the footsteps reach the top of the stairs, they where about to begin their descent down to me, to kill me. Please don't make this happen.
"Help, my mums hurt and there is somebody in our house."
I nearly dropped my phone at the words that had just entered my brain. Christy was in trouble. I told her to lock to door of the room she was in and to call the police. I then immediately grabbed my coat and sprinted to the address she had given me. When I got to the house a police car had just arrived. Out came a cop holding a gun. I immediately backed away put of instinct but then realised that Christy was in danger and that I needed to help her.
" Excuse me Mr, would you please stay away from this house" Another police officer demanded and pushed me out the way. " Please, I know the girl that is in there, the girl that called you, I need to help her." I cried. The police officers face hardened.
" No, that is not permitted, you can't in-danger your own life, please mr, stand back." As the words left his lips i heard a gun shot and some shouting, I realised that the police had already broken into the house. Out came a stretcher with paramedics pushing it gently into the ambulance. IT seemed that every thing had turned into slow motion. I pushed past the angry officer and sprinted into the house, there was a sickening smell of blood, wafting around the room. I rushed into the sitting room to find Christy, wrapped aup in a blanket crying her eyes out, her mascara was smudged and her hands where crusted with dried blood. I ran to her side and wrapped my arms around her.
" She's...... she's..." Christy tried to say something but just collapsed into a flood of tears. " shhhhh, its okay Christy, don't worry, she will be fine." I tried to console her.
" They, they. didn't catch him" She screamed through her tears. Wait, they didn't catch the man that did this to her and her mother? What the hell?! I stood up and kissed Christy of the forehead. I then ran to the police, clenching and unclenching my fists in anger.
" You DIDN"T CATCH HIM!" I yelled. The police officer sighed. " No, we will have to put Christy under 24/7 watch." The police officer said calmly. " Why?" I asked, confused and angry.
" This wasn't a random attack, it was planned. he might come back for her." Those words chilled me to the bone.
It was that day that I made a promise to myself and Christy, I didn't care if we had only been on 2 dates, I needed to protect Christy, I wasn't going to let anybody hurt her.
