7. Chapter 7 ~ Lose My Mind

I woke up, feeling slightly drowsy, in a place that I didn't recognise. Blinking rapidly to clear the blurriness from my eyes, I sat up and took in my surroundings. I was lying on a big, soft, chocolate brown sofa in what appeared to be a living room. Three walls were painted white and the other one was painted a deep red. The floor was made up of dark brown mahogany wood and a red carpet to match the wall. I was so confused, where on earth was I? Maybe I'd fallen and hit my head and had concussion, perhaps that was why I couldn't remember. I tried to think back about what happened last night, I went to the Valentine's Day Dance with Nathan, and then, oh no, I thought, as the realisation of what had happened hit me. I was pretty certain I was lying in the living room of none other than Nathan Sykes. Just as I thought that, he sauntered into the living room, whistling and throwing me a massive smile,

"Good morning love, how are you?" he asked,

"Uh, good morning, I'm slightly confused to be honest with you," I replied as he came over and gave me a hug. It was then that I noticed I was still in my outfit from last night. "How did I get here?"

"Ah, well, you see," Nathan started, "you were sleeping so peacefully last night that I just told the driver of the limo to carry on to my house. I didn't want to wake you, you seemed so comfortable and I would've felt really mean waking you up, and plus, you're really cute when you sleep," he added with a wink.

"But how did I get in here?" I asked, curiously,

"Well how do you think? I carried you of course!"

"Oh Nathan you would've probably broken your back trying to lift me," I say, embarrassed.

"Don't be so silly, you're light as a feather," he scoffed,

"Well thank you anyway," I say, smiling at him. And then I spot a familiar looking navy blue bag sitting beside the sofa, "Hey, is that my..." I trail off as Nathan answers,

"Yes, Kelsey and Nareesha picked out a few things for you from your house and dropped them off here for you, I hope that's ok?"

"Yes, that's perfect, thank you. I could've hardly gone home dressed like this," I say, gesturing down to my dress,

"You look gorge no matter what you're dressed in babe," Nathan replied, "but I hope you're not planning on leaving too soon though,"

"Oh no I'm not, I'll stay for as long as you want," I reply,

"Well you'll be trapped here forever then," Nathan says with a cheeky smile, placing his arms around me from behind, trapping me against him, I shriek with laughter and we both fall off the sofa, giggling like crazy.

"Careful, we don't want to ruin your dress," Nathan says thoughtfully,

"I suppose I should go and get changed," I say,

"Oh yes, of course, if you walk through this door and along the corridor then there's a spare bedroom, first door on the right,"

"Alright," I say, scooping up my bag on the way past,

"I'll see you in the kitchen for breakfast," Nathan calls out to me,

"Wait, where's the kitchen?" I ask,

"Oh I'm sure you'll find it, just follow your instincts and you'll find me," Nathan says, trailing off and heading in the other direction.

I walk along the corridor and enter the spare room. It's painted a nice, calming light blue with white birds scattered along it randomly. I catch sight of myself in a mirror outlined with white embellishments, god I look a mess, I think, my hair is all over the place and untidy from sleeping on it, I don't know what Nathan sees in me sometimes, I think as I unzip the bag and pull out all the things the girls have put in for me.

I put on a pair of light blue denim flared jeans and a simple white strappy top and then pull on over the top of that a light grey oversized jumper. Then I find my hairbrush and make up inside the bag and walk over to the mirror, fixing my make up and sorting out my hair. I'm not sure what to do with it so I just leave it completely down for once and natural, it's back to it's normal, wavy, brown curls eruption state, though right now I really couldn't care less. I slip on my black ballet flats, pack everything else back into the bag and walk out of the room, attempting to find the kitchen.

I find it quite easily, because I can hear snatches of somebody singing, as I near the voice I realise that Nath is singing Gold Forever, my personal favourite out of all of The Wanted's songs. I walk into the kitchen, dump my bag on the floor and walk over to Nathan, giving him a big smile.

"Hey you," he says to me, "I've just realised something,"

"What?" I ask, confused,

"I've not had a good morning kiss,"

"Well, that can easily be sorted," I say, coming right up to him and looking into those captivating green eyes. Nathan places his hands around my waist and I put mine around his neck, standing up on my tip-toes so I'm level with his height, and then leaning in for the kiss. It felt like a million little fireworks were exploding all at once in my stomach and I was so happy I almost laughed out loud. Once we broke away, Nathan said,

"So, what would you like for breakfast?"

"Oh gosh, I don't know, what have you got?"

"Umm, not a lot,"

"Wait! I know! We'll make pancakes!" I say,

"And you know how to make them?" Nathan questions me,

"And you don't?" I retort back, "I've been making pancakes since I was twelve! Come on, I'll show you,"

We begin to make the mixture together, lsughing and cracking jokes all the way, then we pour the mixture into a pan and wait for one side to cook. When it comes to the point where we have to toss them, I let Nathan take hold of the pan, even though he's not sure, I stand beside him and place my hand on top of his to guide him and we successfully flip the pancake over without any disasters. Whilst we wait for the other side to cook, I, feeling mischievous, take hold of a handful of flour from the ingerdients and flick some at Nathan's head. It lands perfectly in his hair and he shouts out,

"Hey!"

I just giggle naughtily and walk up to him, flour on my finger and say,

"Oh, you've just got a little bit, here!" And I dab some on his nose, turning it white, it's far funnier than I imagined and I just burst out in fits of laughter,

"Right, that's it Miss Ferrier," he says, a cheeky glint lighting up his green eyes, he takes the packet of flour and grabs a handful and throws all of it at me. Flour goes everywhere, on the floor on the walls, but mostly on me. It's in my hair and on my face and all over my jumper.

"Oh, now you've gone too far!" I exclaim, taking the packet off him an hurling a handful at him like it's snow. Nathan tries to take the packet from me, but I have a firm grip on it and it ends up spliting down the side and flour pours out everywhere all over the floor. We both immediately fall to the ground, scooping up bits of flour and chucking them at each other. Then suddenly Nathan jumps up and goes over to the cupboard, pulling out another packet of flour. I also get up and run out of the room, with no idea where I'm going and with Nathan in pursuit. I run up the staircase and through the first door I see, and I find myself in a bedroom, without stopping to take a look around I climb into the wardrobe and close the door. I hear Nathan's footsteps clambering up the stairs and his voice saying,

"You can run Hannah Ferrier, but you can't hide," I watch through the gap in the wardrobe as Nathan slowly opens the bedroom door. My heart is thumping quickly in my chest, either from running away from Nath or from thrill and excitement, I'm not sure which. It is then that I spot the trail of white flour footsteps leading across the room to the wardrobe at the same instant that Nathan sees them. Oh no, I think, I'm busted. I watch a small smile creep across Nathan's face, and he began to walk slowly towards the wardrobe. Then he suddenly pulls open the doors, shouts,

"ATTACK!!!!!" And throws more flour at me,

I respond by screaming and attempting to run out of the cupboard, but Nathan's arms work themselves around my waist, preventing me from running away again,

"You're not getting away this time," he whispers in my ears, as I struggle playfully against him. We end up collapsing on the bed together in a heap of giggles, rolling over and over on top of each other until we finally come to halt, Nathan leaning over me, breathing heavily,

"Ok, ok, alright," I say, breathless, "I surrender, I surrender."

A smile plays across Nathan's lips when WHAM! I hit him in the face with a pillow,

"SURPRISE ATTACK!" I scream, laughing and hitting him again. Nathan rolls away from me and grabs a pillow of his own, striking back, we spend the next few minutes in an intense pillow fight until I stop and fall to the ground, crying with laughter. I look up and see Nathan is laughing is head off too. He makes his way towards me and picks me up, hands around my waist, and spins me back around onto the bed,

"Let's call a truce," he says,

"That sounds like a good idea," I agree with a smile, and Nathan leans down and kisses me again. Although this one is different to the rest, it still sends sparks flying in my tummy, yet this one seems more passionate, more sad in a way, although I can't think why, and this time, it really feels as if there is some sort of connection between us. Eventually we break away, foreheads resting against one another, Nathan's fringe flopping down into my face when I say,

"Wait, hang on, can I smell burning?" I ask, we both look at each other and say at the same time as the realisation hits us,

"The pancakes!"

We both rush downstairs at top speed, our pancake is completely burnt to a crisp. So we make some more and while they're cooking become sensible again and clean up the mess we've made of the kitchen. Then, once the pancakes are ready we sit down and enjoy our breakfast together,

"Hannah," Nathan says, "I've just noticed something, you're not wearing your charm bracelet,"

"Oh, I didn't think you'd notice," I replied, "I normally wear it everyday, but it's still at the jeweller's, getting your charm fixed on to it, although it should be ready to pick up now."

"Ah, I see." Nathan says, "Hannah, there's something I need to tell you," he adds, with a serious tone to his voice,

"Oh, alright," I say, worried,

"Tomorrow me and the boys are flying back to America to record some songs, I just thought I'd let you know so you don't think I've disappeared off the face of the earth,"

"Oh," I say, breathing out a sigh of relief, "Is that all? I thought you were going to, well, never mind, as long as you don't stay away forever," I reply with a smile,

"Oh no, we're only going out for two days and then I'll be back,"

"Good, good, well I shall eagerly await your return," I say to him as we finish off the pancakes,

"Those were good, you're awesome at cooking," Nathan compliments, "Oh by the way, there's something else you should know, last night, at the dance, the performances only were recorded and televised, so everyone kinda knows about us now,"

"Oh I see, well I suppose it's about time that your fans knew," I say with a sad smile,

"Yeah," Nathan trails off,

"Nathan, I am so sorry if you lose fans or followers on twitter or whatever because of me or if-" I'm cut off by Nathan shushing me and placing a finger to my lips,

"Hannah love, don't apologise, you have nothing to be sorry for, if people can't accept the fact that I love you then that's their problem, not ours. I love you, and I know you love me and that's all that matters. I can't guarantee that there will be no hate because there always is, even if it's just a rumor. But I want you to stay strong and ignore it ok? And while I'm away I want you to promise me something. Promise me that no matter how many negative comments you receive while I'm away, ignore them, blank them, don't let them get to you, and I want you to email me everyday so I know you're alright. Can you do that for me?"

"Yes Nathan, of course, I promise," I reply, smiling at the thought of how much he cares about me,

"Right, now let's get you home,"

We both stand up and I gather my things together and we head out of the door, hand in hand. It's a beautiful morning, the sun shining brightly in the sky and tiny beads of frost glistening on the grass. As we climb into the car Nathan turns and says to me, putting on his hat I bought him at the same time,

"Why don't we stop by at the jewellery store and pick up your bracelet brogue I drop you home?" He asks,

"Oooh yes, that would be good," I respond. We drive to the shop and pick up my bracelet, I immediately take it out of its bag and put it on, Nathan's butterfly charm glinting in the sunlight streaming in through the window,

"It looks lovely," I say, "now I'll have a piece of you with me everywhere I go," I say to Nathan with a smile. As we walk out the store and towards the car, a girl of around my age, though slightly younger approaches us with a glare of steel, for some reason I'm scared senseless and I grab Nathan's hand in fright and hold it tightly. The girl walks up and stops in front of us both, hands on her hips, cold, icy blue eyes piercing my soul, making me feel afraid.

"You'll regret this Hannah," she spat out my name with disgust as if it had left a bad taste in her mouth, "you have no idea what you're messing with. You should back off now before you get hurt." And with that, she stormed past Nathan and I and I heard her hiss into Nathan's ear,

"You could do so much better than her Nathan,"

Stunned, we both watched her stride away, until she was out of sight. I didn't know what to say, I was speechless.

"Hannah, are you alright?" Nathan asked with concern,

"Yeah, I'm fine," I trail off, and the conversation ends there. We drive to my house in a tense silence, when we reach my little cottage, Nathan turns around to face me and says,

"Listen to me, you've got to remember your promise to me ok? Ignore the haters alright? Their just jealous of a gorgeous girl like you."

"I know, I know, but they won't be jealous of me Nathan, why would they be? I'm not exactly a walking beauty. Whoever she was, she was far prettier than me, and she's right, you could do so much better than me, I mean, you..." I trail off, breaking down in tears, and Nathan just stares at me, a saddened expression on his face,

"Hannah, listen to me now. Do not ever doubt yourself. You are the most beautiful girl in my life, and believe me, I've seen a lot of girls. Anyway, looks don't count, I love you for your amazing personality, you are one of the sweetest, kindest, most caring people I've ever had the pleasure to know. And you're wrong, I can't do better than you, you're all I've ever wished for and more. " Nathan finishes, gently wiping a tear from my face, "promise me you'll be alright while I'm gone? It's only two days and I'll email you everyday alright?"

"Ok, I promise," I whisper, beginning to get out of the car, but Nathan catches hold of my hand, pulling me back inside the car, and then he kisses me again, this one is mixed with the saltiness of tears and filled with sadness and longing. We leave it at that, with no words left to say, and I climb out the car again and head back inside again, refusing to turn around and watch him disappear because it would only start up the tears again.

When I get inside, there's a message from Sophie on my phone:

Heyyyy girllll .... U ok babe? U were on the tv ! & I saw your bf!! Lol. Anyway I'm off work tomorrow, want 2 do something, unless u hav other plans with u know who... :) xxx

Sophie always knows how to make me smile, I can almost hear her bubbly voice in my head as I read her text and I reply with:

Heyyyy, ye I'm fine, just a bit overwhelmed with everything u know? Haha I know, don't remind me. Oooh that's great, I'd lovee to see u again. Oh no, he's going to America tomorrow so I'll be free. What do u want 2 do? Xxx

While I wait for Sophie to reply, I can't help but let my mind wander to the girl we met today. I couldn't help thinking she was right, despite what Nathan said just then, he could do better than me, I mean, she was stunningly beautiful and...my thoughts were interrupted by my phone vibrating, Sophie again:

Oh thats good, I'm just a bit worried about u that's all. Fantastic! Oh I don't know, what about shopping spree, coffee at our fave cafe and then sleepover? I need all the gossip! Sound good 2 u? Aww u missing him? Xxx

I reply back with:

Don't worry about me, I'm fine. Ok, that's sounds great, I'm needing some girl time! Haha of course! :) yeah I am.. Xxx

Sophie replies back within an instant:

Awww babe, well I'm here to distract u until he gets back! :) xxx

I smile to myself, Sophie isn't my best friend for nothing. She has no idea how amazing she is. She's perfect for taking my mind off everything worrying me at the moment, for now anyway. It's only when I lie down in bed for sleep that night that all the worried thoughts come flooding back and my dreams are turned into nightmares.
