As soon as my shift was over, I bolted up many flights upstairs to my room. I threw my apron sloppily on the ground, pulled on my jacket, new boots, and awesome fuzzy trapper hat, then dashed back downstairs.
"Bye mom, bye Jerry, going somewhere, be back sometime!" I yelled, as I ran excitedly out the door. My shift had ended late, unexpectedly, and I was afraid that my new friends would leave without me, not seeing why they should wait. And they probably shouldn't have; they had only met me the day before, and I didn't expect us to be the best of friends so quickly.
"Sorry I'm late!" I said, as I greeted Ty, Mickey, Kyle, Bridget, S'more, (who last minute decided to come) Shawn, and Emma, who was resting underneath Shawn's grip around her shoulders. By the way, I was so planning on filling Em's boyfriend in on that.
"Don't worry about it!" Ty said.
"I love your hat!" Mickey squealed.
"Thanks!" I beamed. I was doing something right!
I shivered in the cold. It seemed as if everyone had ways to deal with the freezing cold. I shivered, Mickey bounced up and down, Ty rubbed his hands together, Kyle tried to fit both hands in one glove, S'more scrunched up his hood until you could only see his nose, and Shawn and Emma cuddled (wink). Bridget seemed unaffected, but her cheeks were red.
"We better go." Shawn reminded everyone.
"Okay." I said.
We strolled down the street, though a number of blocks (which I had no knowledge of counting, by the way), and down to a dirty subway station. And well, my first time was... interesting.
