4. I'm Here For You
I woke up with Abby in my arms. She looked so cute when she was sleeping. I checked my phone and it was only 7. I had a text from Louis saying: "hey man, we get the week off. Have fun with your new lady friend ;)"
I rolled my eyes and sent: "oh, I will alright :) see ya later, Lou"
I closed my eyes but couldn't fall asleep. I kept thinking about Abby. I know I've only known her for a couple days, but I really think I love this girl. I just really want to get to know her better. She started talking in her sleep. I thought it was really cute until I heard a whimper and a tear on my arm. "Mum, I love you. Please don't leave me." She mummered. "Mum! Please! Don't go!" She was screaming now. I shook her awake. She sat straight up. "What's wrong? What's going on?" She said looking at me with a worried look in her eyes.
"You were talking in your sleep.." I said.
"Oh, sorry. Did I wake you?" She apologized.
"Oh, no. I was already awake but you started crying and saying something about your Mum.."
"Oh. Sorry." She said, looking down.
"It's fine, sweetie. Just lay back down and try to get more sleep. It's only 7 am." I motioned for her to enter my arms again.
"Okay." She said, smiling sweetly.
She lied back in my arms and quickly fell asleep. I just sat there and played with her hair and rubbed her back. She started talking again, but this time, she was laughing and smiling. "I love you, Harry. I want to be with you forever." This caused me to smile and tear up.
"I love you too, Ab." I whispered in her ear softly and kissed her cheek. She smiled. I continued rubbing her back.
*3 hours later*
Abby finally woke up again. "Good morning, beautiful." I said, kissing her forehead. She noticed I was still rubbing her back.
"Have you been awake for the past three hours?" She asked.
"Yeah. I wanted to make sure you didn't have any more bad dreams."
"Awww, you didn't have to do that for me." She said, smiling.
"But I wanted to." I said, kissing the tip of her nose. She scrunched up her nose and smiled. I got out my phone and showed her the text Louis sent me this morning.
"Yay!" She said, smiling. She kissed my cheek softly.
"I know. And I get to spend it all with you." I said, kissing her back.
"Well, what do you want for breakfast, Poohie?" She said, cutely.
"Poohie?" I said grinning.
"Yeah, that's your nickname." She said, sweetly.
"I like it." I kissed her lips slowly. "And you can be Piglet, just like from Winnie the Pooh." I said, winking.
"Okay." She said, blushing. "You never answered my question!"
"Huh?" I had totally forgotten.
"What do you want for breakfast?" She asked again.
"Oh. How about your lips?" I said before kissing her passionately.
"Harry, I'm too tired." She said, wining.
"Fine. Real food it is, then." I said, pouting.
"Does eggs and sausage sound good?"
"Not as good as your mouth, but whatever. I guess that will be okay.."
"Oh, shut up." She said, "playfully" hitting my arm. It kinda hurt, to be honest. She was just so strong. I liked it.
We headed downstairs and I sat at the bar. She handed me a cup of orange juice before later putting my plate in front of me.
"Thank you, babe." She sat next to me. "Aren't you going to eat some?"
"Nah, I'm good." She said, looking down.
"Fine." I said, shrugging my shoulders. I quickly finished my plate and stuck it in the sink. "So, what do we do now?" I asked.
"Wanna watch a movie?" She said, excitingly.
"Well, that depends on what." I said.
"How about Love Actually?" She asked.
"Sure." We headed upstairs to her room and she popped the movie into the DVD player. We sat on her bed and cuddled. I looked down and she was asleep. Oh, how cute she was when she slept. Something felt strange. I tried to shake her awake. "Ab?" I kept nudging her. "Sweetheart?" No response. I started shaking her shoulders. She wasn't breathing. "Abby!"
I picked her up and carried her down the steps, lying her on the couch. I ran into the kitchen and grabbed her inhaler. I went back to her and opened her mouth. I gave her a few puffs. Nothing. I yelled for her dad. "Dale!" I couldn't find him. He must be working. I picked her up and carried her to my car, lying her in the backseat. I rushed to the nearest hospital. I carried her inside, running to the front desk. "Nurse! My girlfriend! She stopped breathing and she won't wake up!"
"Right this way." She said, guiding me to the E.R. I put her on the bed. All I could do is stand there motionless, until some nurses told me I had to go to the waiting room. I looked back at Abby's lifeless body, feeling a tear run down my cheek. I was in the waiting room for what felt like hours.
"Sir." I just sat there. "Sir." Still no answer. "Sir, you can see Abby now." It was a nurse, pointing me to the room Abby was in. I walked slowly to the door, being afraid of what I may come to see. I opened the door and saw Abby lying on the hospital bed hooked up to a bunch of wires. "She is in a coma. We don't know when she will wake up. It could be hours, days, weeks, even months." I sat down in a chair next to the bed.
"Oh, God." I said feeling a tear run down my cheek. I didn't bother to wipe it away. I didn't care. All I cared about was Abby. "Why did this happen?" I asked, looking up to the nurse.
"She hasn't eaten anything. She's been starving herself for the past three days. Her severe asthma doesn't help much either." How could I not notice? She hadn't eaten breakfast or anything the whole time I've been with her. It's all my fault. I should've known. The nurse had already left the room. I just sat there holding Abby's hand. She looked so pale. So lifeless. She hadn't moved a muscle for the past 6 hours.
"I'm so sorry, Ab. This is all my fault. I should've noticed. How could I let this happen?" I started to cry. I buried my face in my hands and my cry turned into a sob. A messy one at that.
"Harry?" I heard a faint, but familiar voice. I looked up at the bed and there was Abby sitting there, looking at me with those beautiful eyes of hers.
"Abby! Baby! I'm sorry. So so sorry." I said, hugging her and burying my face in her hair.
"It's fine. It's not your fault." She said quietly.
"If it wasn't for me, you would've never thought you needed to starve yourself anyways. You're perfect. You're not fat at all. You're actually complete muscle if you ask me.. even if you were fat, which you're not, I would still love you no matter what. Beauty comes in all sizes." She kissed me on the nose, causing me to mock her and scrunch up my nose.
"I love you, Harry." She said with kind eyes.
"I love you too, Abby. I love you too." I replied.
I'm so glad she's okay.
